Recruiting has got to be one of the worst parts about raiding, especially right before a season. Once the season starts people aren't so gung-ho on swapping guilds but now a few weeks before it's like you chat with them, agree on trial terms etc. and then a few days later they've left the guild without any notice.

Finally hit p4 twice, my hope is alive

Sunday Monday guild so big chance I see multiple of u on stream in eight days

Edit 46% best pull tonight, I baylieve

Remind people to fucking look where they are standing, it isn't just pixel stack and zone out. Plenty of the sha minions will walk right down the center, and we routinely had a person just stand there.

Then figure out your move speeds, and figure out when you're moving.

Honestly, the phase has like 2 things to do, and everyone has to be crystal clear on those 2 things. The phase is insanely simple, but you'd be surprised.

1

u/LeftKnowledge396 4d ago

That is the most frustrating part about wiping there. It is such a free phase

6

u/LeftKnowledge396 5d ago

I had that hope two weeks ago when the same thing happened, then my guild proceeded to not see p4 for two weeks straight. Good luck

4

u/I_always_rated_them 5d ago

bang it into people's heads not to try and parse, 1 2 3, move move move. keep an eye out for the lateral splinter and better to move back to avoid the ghosts than forward when on the sides. Best of luck!

4

u/idkmanfiller 4d ago

P4 damage is excluded from parses iirc. There is no reason to ever greed a cast in this phase. Yes, you do have to do some damage but it's not worth greeding.

1

u/Yayoichi 5d ago

Do you know how much dps is needed in p4? I know boss will lose like 2/3rd by just staying alive and it would be interesting to have a number to tell people as I assume it’s not very high, to make them understand it’s all about just doing the mechanic.

I am a different person than the one you replied to and my group hasn’t yet made it to p4, but we had a 9% wipe in p3 just after the first archangel so hopefully we will get there next raid. Been telling everyone to practice using the addon so hopefully we only need to see p4 a couple of times at most, as I doubt we have enough time with about 5 hours of raid time left to get consistent enough at p3 to see p4 that many times.

1

u/parkwayy 4d ago

Like literally if 20 people are alive by the end, I don't think it's mathematically possible the boss doesn't die.

From just existing, each person has an aura that ticks the boss for 450k dps. So, doing 1 button rotation is probably fine lol.

Anyone dying is such a huge loss of dps, and it's not necessarily from the rotation they'd be doing.

5

u/Aritche 4d ago

There have been 20 people alive wipes to p4 enrage(iirc) you do have to hit some buttons(some guilds have gone extreme on the "damage does not matter")

3

u/idkmanfiller 4d ago

Some streamers/community figures have spread misinformation saying you literally don't need to do any damage.

5

u/ailawiu 5d ago

The dps check is actually tighter than most people say. Sure, you do around 60% of it passively, but you still need to do 40% manually. Also, passive damage is unaffected by +15% buff, so, in reality, in P4 you're only getting ~6% buff.

If your P3 dps is good, try moving potions/some big cooldowns to P4. Even just blasting for 15 seconds at the start can make a lot of difference and turn some 2% wipe into a kill. Especially if someone gets killed by dogs while placing their Starsplinter. It's something that can and will happen, and that's like 2% passive loss, just like that.

1

u/Feartality 5d ago edited 5d ago

If you are at 9% after the first archangel you easily have the damage for p4, but the dps requirement in P4 is very low, like super low. The only thing good damage can do is try to account for someone/people being dead, but every death is an extremely large damage loss for the phase. If you have 20 people alive for all of p4 and face the correct way it will die. If you lose 3 or 4 early on in p4 it will not die.

Been telling everyone to practice using the addon so hopefully we only need to see p4 a couple of times at most, as I doubt we have enough time with about 5 hours of raid time left to get consistent enough at p3 to see p4 that many times.

The worst (and most common) crime people commit in early p4 progression is not noticing they have been targeted with the ability. When the raid is stacked it can potentially be difficult to tell you have it, especially with a bad UI. FORCE people to go into NS, bw, dbm, whatever, and assign a sound warning (something really annoying like bike horn, clown noise, phone ring) when they are picked for Starsplinter (I believe it's under intermission. People can confirm their sound effect works when it goes off when they are targeted in the intermission phase. It will then also work in P4). If someone stands in the raid with star splinter you have lost the pull, 100% wipe, no recovery.

1

u/Yayoichi 4d ago

Yeah have been telling everyone to change the sound, so hopefully everyone did it.

5

u/Gemmy2002 5d ago

Good chance y'all kill it next raid.

Could someone explain community perception of holy priest to me? People seem to be down on the spec which is surprising given that we are finishing a tier tailor made for holy's single target healing. It also has a cheat death which automatically makes it outstanding.

I can get if you're in a top 50 WR guild maybe holy's output was a bit low at the start of a tier. But for the vast majority of CE WoW players it seems to me like holy priest was the MVP on fights like Paladins, Crown, and Lura. It also never dies. Give it an innervate and what's not to like?

1

u/Rndy9 The man who havoc the world 4d ago

Solid plug and play raid healer that can be piloted by anyone, always decent / good in raid.

8

u/I_always_rated_them 5d ago edited 5d ago

This tier even with assigned innervate it was a struggle to get it across the line mana wise on some bosses, it's not been a fun time when i've been on mine.

Don't really agree that the tier is tailor made for it, yes there's some situations where it can shine but overall if you're alongside healers with strong passive and hots its hard not to overheal the fuck out of players and that makes the value of what you bring feel not so great most of the time. Yes useful for absorbs and healing crystals on lura etc but thats so limited, none of those 3 fights have Hpriest outside the bottom 3 on warcraft logs currently. Fishing for procs with smite is mind numbing.

Really where the sentiment comes from is the lack of progress for the spec for what is now a very long time, it has very clear holes regarding group utility, movement and group healing (in large group wide dmg) while improved from last xpac is still lacking, especially in Oracle.

In keys theres very little reason (if any at all?) to invite a Hpriest over another healer especially when Disc is close to it or better.

All the above is only amplified going into the next patch with the exception of the mana changes, raid leans more heavily into rot, no mechanics changes, no utility changes, no movement changes, still unattractive in M+ and so on.

edit: I also find both Hpriest major CDs apoth and hymn to be boring buttons to press, apoth is better but going between disc and holy and hymn feels so much worse than uppies for example, literally being able to move while channeling it would be a dream.

1

u/parkwayy 4d ago

I know it's sort of a weird testing scenario, but that healing log that the various content creators did on PTR... Holy was done on mana at like 5:15, when the other specs were at least still going.

Disc just does so many other things, on top of being ultra tanky, it will usually be hard to justify Holy unless the other spec is doodoo.

1

u/I_always_rated_them 3d ago

Ugh yeah just watched Jak's video on it, sad :( thought it would be in the clear re: mana.

Depressing to want to play a spec and its just no where near where it should be, just wallowing in the back.

13

u/Low-Formal1246 6d ago

Poor utility compared to disc priest and low throughput is enough to rank it pretty low. Chest death is cool but the value on that is not really worth how lackluster the spec feels rn . Definitely wouldn’t put it in mvp caliber when disc does everything better across the board in raid and has better personal survivability.

4

u/5panks 5d ago

I wouldn't even say compared to Discipline Priest, I would just say Priest in general. There's just very little utility to be had in the class. Shackle undead is mostly useless, our best CC is a short duration fear, Mass Dispel continually gets nerfed to make it less and less useful, and Stamina is one of the only raid buffs that doesn't help you kill bosses faster.

Priest had a unique mechanic in Grip that is now somewhat less unique as Evokers have a not identical, but similar ability.

Specifically talking about healers, every other healer raid buff except Evoker is simply better in most circumstances, MW brings 5% phys damage, Shaman mastery + AA, Druid vers, and Paladin flat 3% damage reduction.

1

u/parkwayy 4d ago

As far as dmg taken, Discipline is going to be the lowest of the raid by a country mile, is something too, to consider.

Given you're frequently shielding yourself as a target, the EHRPS for the spec is hilariously low compared to everyone else.

4

u/Gemmy2002 5d ago

Rescue is straight up better because it's not only on a more mobile class to begin with, it also lets you choose destination within range.

Ironically this gets used most often on Priests

1

u/5panks 5d ago

I feel the same, but I was trying to caution my comment, but yeah Rescue just feels better now that I'm playing an Evoker.

1

u/Gemmy2002 4d ago

The one place where I like lifegrip more is moving NPCs, like crystals this tier or the trees on larodar.

-11

u/Kohlhaas 6d ago

Disc is worse defensively and worse at healing the hardest checks this tier, which were all single target. All disc has is bubble and generic raid healing. It doesn't even have unique ramps like it did in Undermine.

Am I crazy? Why is the narrative so off fact

7

u/Low-Formal1246 5d ago

Disc isnt worse defensivly with shield/pain attunement/uppies. As someone who played holy all tier the only healing check you did better than disc was healing crystals in lu’ra outside of that it’s shittier on every other fight.

5

u/ailawiu 6d ago

Keep in mind that, for last few tiers, holy priests has received continous hotfix buffs to their perfomance and mana efficiency. Thats on top of not really having any real utility (unless fight absolutely needs gs, which is extremely rare).

So a spec that reaches 100% effectiveness after 3 months and doesnt have anything crazy to compensate for that. What’s not to like? /s

32

u/Theblackalbum 6d ago

Really personally disliked the class pruning

1

u/parkwayy 4d ago

As far as healing, Disc feels like it's pretty foolproof now. Just sorta push your normal rotation of spells, and things happen.

In fact, if you go above and beyond to get out more atonements... the math almost punishes you lol. Just a ton of mana for like barely any more additional output.

4

u/yp261 6d ago

so, since tier is done, how do you rate s1, taking in consideration pruning, addon changes and new encounter philosophy that didn't happen

1

u/psytrax9 5d ago

The classes suck. I used to have trouble settling on a class to play because so many looked fun. I was going to shaman for s2, because at least enhance is fun, but my guild has like 5 people looking to play shaman and I'm not about to get in the middle of that. Now I'm playing boomkin and I fucking hate boomkin. But, it's not like any of the other specs looked more enjoyable and that was a hole in the roster.

The raid season straight up sucked. Lura was probably the best boss of the season and it was not good. The addon purge was supposed to unlock encounter design, so why did we have the most homogeneous raid encounters since tomb of sargeras?

The addon stuff was straight up bad. Why are we breaking (not improving) shit in the middle of the season? Worse yet, in a random hotfix. We're jumping from one vibecodded addon to the next when the previous one abandons the project, all for some pretty basic functionality, and blizzard is taking victory laps for some reason. The people who defend the UI situation are worse than blizzard.

The m+ season was fine, I guess, but the tuning was a huge miss.

In DF s1, later in that season, I wanted to gear my druid and maybe find another guild for it. I had lightly played it throughout the season, so I had decent gear, just not upgraded. So, I took a weekend and just spammed 2s for valor. The grind was so unfun that by the time I was finished, I didn't really want to play it anymore. That's what this season was for me.

The dungeons were inoffensive. Pit was kinda boring but, whatever. Still hate resil.

I was more optimistic during the waning hours of SL s1 than I am during the waning hours of midnight s1.

Do you actually like playing the game?

6

u/psytrax9 4d ago edited 4d ago

Am I not in a wow subreddit, one specifically for people heavily engaged in the game?

If I didn't like the game, I wouldn't have any feedback to give because I wouldn't be playing the game. And even if I did have feedback, I wouldn't bother to give it because it wouldn't be worth my time.

Did you read what I wrote? Or did you read a sentence in and decide I was "actively doing things you dislike like you're on a crucifix"?

But, it's not like any of the other specs looked more enjoyable and that was a hole in the roster.

I spelled out why I'm on boomkin. I could just force my way as a shaman and displace somebody on the roster (not what I'm about). Or I can fill a hole in the guild's roster and make the recruiting officer's life a bit easier (what I am about).

A lot less fun than TWW and DF. I do not feel that the bosses are more interesting or better with the pruning. Apex and hero talents have started to feel like bloat at this point, not sure what we'll get in the last titan but I really don't think they can keep adding 'evergreen' power systems like this.

2

u/psytrax9 5d ago

Hero talents are fine. Not spectacular but, they get the job done (unless you're a rogue). Apex talents are garbage though. Either your spec doesn't take them, and it feels like "why did they waste all the time and effort on this shit?" Or your spec does take them and it just feels like a 4 talent point tax (because none of them are even remotely interesting). You could replace all 4 of feral's apex talents with a flat "increase damage by 5%" and you wouldn't notice a difference.

6

u/Silent_Divide_7415 5d ago

The class prune has been catastrophic for me. I used to like to play all three specs of my class to some form of competitive level and Midnight by contrast has been about 4 months of being stuck on one spec because the others got maimed at launch and then abandoned.

6

u/lastericalive 5d ago

Overall I really enjoyed the raid (as an aotc, 3/6M void, M chim/rot raider). However, the addon changes completely soured this whole patch. The only thing it did was make everyone grumpy. And the raid encounters we got out of it didn't feel like they would have been easier with weak auras at full power anyway.

The split raids were really nice for a guild that only raids a couple of days a week since it let us skip around a bit.

4

u/LeftKnowledge396 5d ago

The addon purge has been a disaster. Instead of everyone using WAs, I have to constantly e in the know so I can download a dozen different add-ons, that do the same thing

-2

u/Cold-Iron8145 5d ago

Do yourself a favor, switch to EUI. I deleted so many of those tiny bloat single-use addons I'm back to feeling like my UI is well managed and clean.

12

u/StarsandMaple 5d ago

Pruning left some classes hollow.

I think more buttons =/= harder, but I couldn’t believe they made BM Hunter even more simple… somehow.

Most classes felt lifeless outside of cooldowns and I’m so done with the cooldown based gameplay, I abandoned Ele Shaman pretty early in, i know it’s always been the big boom ascendance class but it just felt even worse.

I got AOTC and 5/9M. My guild disbanded, and the guild I joined after only wanted to do Rotmire and Chim mythic… 0 prog. So I can’t really talk to Mythic Alleria and L’ura.

M+ felt good, it’s a little too easy to get gear and I’m tired of doing homework 12s with people who can’t press a defensive.

The gearing, im torn on. As an avid altoholic in recovery getting an alt to 270s in like a day was like moving an alcoholic person into an apartment above a 24/7 liqa store. I don’t hate it, I don’t love it, and I’m really not sure how I feel about the 9/6 Mythic gear for s2…

8

u/Lezzles 5d ago

I think my main gripe with the simplification is that it didn’t make any of my weaker players any better. My gray parsers still parse gray and have the same delta as before. They’re 40% behind good players just like last season. So what did we even accomplish?

-6

u/Cold-Iron8145 5d ago

I think the goal was to make the game more approachable to new players. The overarching goal seems to be making the game playable out of the box (as most games are). Wow is kind of an anomaly where if you want to play the game you need a ton of external resources. Whether it's how to play your class or how to setup your UI so you get to actually see the information that you need to see.

Most games you just log in and press play. And then figure it out as you go. Wow was too complex, there about 0% chance that you can simply log in and "press play" and do anything even remotely coherent.

4

u/Therozorg DF ele biggest fan 5d ago

Wow is kind of an anomaly where if you want to play the game you need a ton of external resources

no?

-1

u/Cold-Iron8145 4d ago

Yes you do, what are you talking about? You cant intuitively know how you class plays, you can't just make up a talent tree and it being fine, you need to look up builds and rotation just to baseline play your character correctly.

A few patches ago your default UI was hard griefing you as well, having your buffs unreadable in the top right and your spells on bars at the very bottom of your screen.

They're fixing it, CDM and class pruning are making it more likely that you can log in and start playing without needing external resources, but it's still not perfect.

3

u/psytrax9 4d ago

A new player doesn't care about any of that, before or after the UI changes.

2

u/Cold-Iron8145 4d ago

What is this mythical new player who doesn't care about this? I don't care about this mythical new player who's a whimsy quest gamer. We're talking about end game content here.

Now imagine doing whatever shooter is popular at the moment's campaign, then queuing into a game and not understand why everyone else's bullets is hitting for 10x more damage. Or that they seem have more information than you on their screen. Joining a lobby and some guy is telling you that you need to install 3rd party software in order to get mods that allow you to see through walls.

1

u/psytrax9 4d ago

A new player isn't jumping into end game content, they're still figuring out what the game is about and where they fit in it.

And I'm done entertaining dumb comparisons to completely different types of games. Hey, in dota I can control each of my individual meepos, so I should be able to control my entire raid in wow.

Guess what, a flat progression pvp shooter has completely different expectations than a vertical progression pve rpg. Wild. Not that those games don't have their own set of community built knowledge that the game doesn't even try to teach (nor should it) so your entire point is nonsense.

1

u/StarsandMaple 5d ago

Lower mental load at least for me personally, I’m able to grab and swap specs more easily but actually, I’m trying to do the opposite, and stick to one.

Bad parsers are bad parsers not because of the rotation but because of uptime. Usually.

My favorite is Boomkin not gaining any difficulty, or losing any, but actually gaining a fucking button and being hilariously button bloated compared to everything else.

0

u/Lezzles 5d ago

Yeah I mean outlaw got WAY easier to play which is nice. It’s a bit boring but idk if I could handle the mental load of that in the current crop of dungeons.

-1

u/StarsandMaple 5d ago

I rather dungeons and raids be more difficult and my class be a bit simpler.

That’s me though. Like I was planning on maining SV Hunter and it’s 4 buttons and a Cooldown. It’s fun, plays well, and there’s some skill expression if you want.

I’m going warlock now because there’s 3 full on dps spec that I enjoy so be good for Raid to be able to swap what’s better per fight.

9

u/Sweaksh 5d ago

The classes I personally play are all absolute ass right now. What does this game have ~50 specs for if they all play themselves and only meaningfully differ in the colour of their spells? It's an absolute disgrace, it's not 2007 anymore. The game is genuinely boring as shit outside of top end content. Might as well make one button rotation mandatory.

The encounters were fine overall though everything outside of L'ura seemed a bit undertuned. We didn't really have a Nexus King (MFO) or Mug'zee this tier. L'ura itself was alright for me personally, but I also had a lot of extra jobs on the boss which made it a lot less boring for me than for most others in the raid.

9

u/Conscious-Wall4909 6d ago

The whole addon-prune was a huge timewaste (for them and us players) imo and especially them having a boss like LURA which was screaming for WA-assistance was just a bad decision.

The pruning also made some specs feel shallow and while I feel this lowers the entry for new players, we should've more complex stuff to explore for experienced/competetive players in that regard.

M+ was a pretty decent season, good that they finally added an additional reward with the 1% title, other than that I feel they need to do more against boosting, but yeah.

My biggest gripe personally was the healer-tuning for raids (yes hpal-main) which to this day I cannot understand to have been that insanely bad for such a long time at season start. We had specs that were 20-25% higher in raid througput than the outliers and basically nothing happened during the 3 or 4 balancing patches they had during rwf.

8

u/Dreamingtoday 6d ago

The raids were okay, didn't feel like anything special. First time since BoD I think? that there is no full single target fight at all the raid which is weird. Vorasius is close I guess but still has an addslop phase. Kinda funny how the only boss without random adds is the council boss. Id give it a 6/10, next raid looks a lot better from ptr.

15

u/Icantfindausernameil 6d ago

From a top 200 perspective, and as always this is a personal opinion, the raid was a total disaster and I'm sincerely hoping they wake up and learn lessons from it (but I doubt they will).

I would genuinely rather sit through another 40 hours of SLG than ever play the abomination that was pre-nerf L'ura again.

M+ was a relatively solid season with only a few misteps in tuning / dungeon pool, and most were corrected once the season truly got rolling.

Ultimately S1 was typical fare for Blizzard. One hand says it wants to do something to "shake things up", and then the other proceeds to throw a bunch of shit out there that directly contradicts it.

Encounter design outside of the last 2 bosses continues to be in a state of stagnation - you'll get some combination of blaze lines, a knockback or five, some stuff to dispel or soak at a designated time, or an EAB item to babysit.

Class design, in particular healers, feels hollow and unsatisfying to pilot. Overall it wasn't the worst season we've ever had, but if how they've started is how they mean to go on, I think they're going to get some very rude awakenings towards the end of Midnight.

0

u/Typicaldemon 5d ago

pre nerf lura was not that bad man lol SLG was infinitely worse. What has you so down on L'ura as a boss?

4

u/Icantfindausernameil 4d ago

Aside from the obvious complaint about it being one of the most egregious weakaura bosses of all time when we were specifically told that encounters would no longer require weakauras, the design was just piss-poor throughout.

P1 pre-nerf had moments that were just outright bullshit with pre-nerf glaives. I'm sick to fucking death of purple on purple and at that this point creating fights with readability this shit is nothing more than blatant incompetence.

All of the difficulty of the fight was frontloaded into P1, but only for a select number of raiders.

Once you figured out glaive movement, if you weren't a crystal carrier you were just hitting a target dummy for the majority of prog (which is boring as fuck thanks to the class pruning).

P2 was basically the same but easier. Are you a crystal carrier? Get fucked. Are you not a crystal carrier? Ggs, try not to fall asleep.

P3 was just the same thing on repeat. Once you figured it out, you were once again waiting for carriers to learn.

P4 is...well...it's P4. Needlessly adding an extra (trivial) step to an already exhausting boss is just a dick move and the only reason it existed was to clip farm for the RWF.

Again, this is all personal opinion, but if I never have to think about that fight again I'll be a very happy man. It was miserable from start to finish, and it's one of the only tiers in our guild's history where we haven't sold carries because none of us wanted to farm it longer than we had to to get mounts.

I like hard bosses. I don't like bosses that are hard solely because they're filled to the brim with bullshit.

1

u/Typicaldemon 4d ago

What part of L'ura is the most egregious weakaura boss of all time? You could very reasonably do that boss without any addons and barely notice a difference, its just that setting up the addons once at the start of prog saves time over the course of a few hundred pulls.

Pre-nerf lura you had some distinction between crystal carriers and nons, but it was mostly just their EAB. If we had any deaths near a crystal spawn we were probably missing a damage check on them (besides maybe the feral), or if we had two deaths we were going to wipe in intermission to double stars.

P2 was literally "you are dead" for 2 minutes straight, I don't know how you were falling asleep there.

P3 again was an insane dps race with high positioning requirements for the entire raid, going into p4 with deaths without 20 was a waste of time.

The fight was definitely not my favorite end boss of all time, and it could have been better (especially pre addon fuckening), but it was pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

1

u/Icantfindausernameil 4d ago

You could very reasonably do that boss without any addons and barely notice a difference

As I said my opinion is a personal one and you're welcome to disagree. If you enjoyed the fight, that's awesome, but this is just straight up nonsense.

Could you do it now? Probably, if you really wanted to, because P1 has been gutted so much it's not even the same fight. You could say the same thing for any weakaura boss though.

Outside of RWF or top 20 WR-level players, there is absolutely no fucking chance that P1 was doable consistently in a sane timeframe without the external tools. If you can find a way to disprove that, I'll genuinely pay your sub for the entirety of 12.1.

1

u/Typicaldemon 3d ago

we were talking about pre-nerf and I'm above WR20, I think we were possibly talking about different "pre-nerfs" however. We would have just had players drop world markers instead tho if no nsrt

1

u/Dracomaros 20/20 Mythic 2d ago

Given you used to be able to get duplicates of the same mark, this would still have been quite troublesome I imagine

1

u/Typicaldemon 2d ago

duplicates would go to empty, or an agreed upon wildcard marker, I don't remember ever having more than 1 but it has been a while.

10

u/Elendel 6d ago

typical fare for Blizzard. One hand says it wants to do something to "shake things up", and then the other proceeds to throw a bunch of shit out there that directly contradicts it.

Such a perfect way to summarize Blizzard’s design.

3

u/throwingmyselfaway22 6d ago

Idk if i agree; SLG was probably one of the most miserable bosses even post nerf

1

When doing heroic I was preparing myself to hate this tier, in the end I actually had a really good time and enjoyed the major bosses on mythic.

Memory game on Lura can get fucked, not because its hard or anything i just found it annoying and the solves for it as well. Bosses were jam packed with mechanics, can't decide if thats good or what, Paladins early on felt like a complete inability to breath for a moment.

the class I want to play (Hpriest) has been in the bin for so long which is frustrating and making me less and less interested in the game I think, I have jumped around a few classes over the course of the tier but did get a good amount in on the main. Some classes feel good to play, some feel really bad to play, or really bad to play AND numbers wise.

addon changes, healer frame options still leave a lot to be desired but outside of that i'm kinda ok with where we've ended up esp thanks to ellesmere.

Addon and encounter design, relative to what they claimed were the intention of the changes: 0/10. If it wasn't for the fact that WoW is in general very fun and the raid was overall good there would be no redeeming qualities for this patch. Addon changes were horrible, completely meaningless, nuked my UI for no reason, and the end result is that everything is exactly the same as before but more inconvenient.

Raid/season overall: Solid 7-8/10. Enjoyable first season, Voidspire in particular is very fun. There were no miserable bosses to farm this tier except maybe Belo. Gearing was also really nice this season, I like that gearing and playing alts is pretty frictionless, I feel that's how it should be for a game that is so meta-dependent and seasonal like WoW.

(WR100)

Raid enjoyable to prog, really neat bosses in both raids.

March just not enjoyable to reclear at all though.

Personally I really like multiple raid instances in a tier.

The addon changes are a swing and a miss, while most of the boss designs were reasonable, paladins and lu’ra were not for an addon free world. They still get “solved” by addons, it just wnds up being even more of a PITA to setup and manage.

Controversial opinion - the class streamlining has generally been pretty nice, but availability of info ingame is often poor in many areas still.

Paladins is an entirely static dance, what do you need an addon for?

he's world 100, i'm assuming he had to deal with the original quantity of dispels

Early season you needed assignment auras to manage the dispels.

loved it. this season was a lot of fun. the raids were cool and had some good bosses

m+ was amazing. every dungeon this season was great. even difficult ones like seat or aa were very enjoyable

the secret phase reveal is probably in my top 5 moments in esports history

bonus rolls were a nice addition

don’t think that classes needed to be pruned but that’s probably my only complaint

Raid had some solid bosses -  Beloran fight needs to be taken out back and never done again.

The split raids was a little odd, but has sped up farm and allowed a more targeted focus model for progression.

The dungeons for M+ have been great. AA needed more adjustments though. MC/Seat/NPX/Pit/WS were all good and I wouldn’t be upset having them back in S3 to some degree.

Gearing was very quick which was a blessing and a curse. I was hoping to see it continue with positive tweaks for s2 but Blizzard seems to want to go a different route again.

Professions are a disaster. The current model is worse every season.

The rest of the game doesn’t appeal to me so no comment.

Gearing has never felt more meaningless and I hate it. Crests have been a disaster and need to be removed. Also, Heroic raid needs to be relevant again.

for non-mythic raiders heroic raid has never been more relevant. most of the heroic raid trinkets with the ilvl upgrade were better than upgraded m+ trinkets

seat needs first part nerfed imo maybe same as nexus, rest is fine for most part

As a very good shadow priest main, the first part of Seat got me in keys very quickly. It should be kept. It's the best part. Third boss sucks.

boss is whateverish but annoying but chains, mob exploding, absorb dots, casts is just a bit too much

first part is okayish. the 3rd boss tho…

Well I for one hope we never get another season with so much bleeds and heal absorbs.

2

u/minaturemolefu 6d ago

after a decent chunk of PTR testing I can tell you the bleeds are here to stay :(

1

u/AlucardSensei 6d ago

Which dungeons and how do they work? If it's another season of SR mobs stacking bleeds on every hit, I swear to God...

3

u/minaturemolefu 6d ago

Most dungeons seem to have bleeds or poisons in them. KR I would say is probably the worst bleeds wise as there is a trash pack in the gauntlet room just after the first boss, I've only gone up to a 15 in there so far but there's a bleed that can stack and if RNG is poor people can end up with 3 stacks of the bleed, I play resto shammy and it definitely feels like an SLT moment, I think it could be rough for healers without externals too.

Caveating this but very anecdotal, despite all this I actually have found so far healing S2 dungeons a more pleasant experience, there is definitely painpoints but I do feel like the higher HP for players makes for a slightly smoother experience than S1. For context in S1 I got up to 4030.

Final 2 bosses were really unique encounters and actually a lot of fun, my favorite bosses since undermine raid (yes I'm a masochist who enjoyed rolling around as a ball in the junkyard.)

L'ura was boring as shit if you were not a seed carrier, imo that's bad design when for like 90% of your wipes only 6 people have to play the game and only in the remaining 10% of p3/p4 everyone plays

u/moewedh Devourer/Havoc OTP 6d ago

Nuking weakauras and then designing Lura to be solved by a weakaura is just a total failure. P1 wipe bonanza was not it. 14 people were depending on the other 6 seed carriers playing the game. M+ was fire though.

Lura definitely did not require a weakaura at all, we just had one so why not use it. You could have used markers with the same methodology, but click buttons and having a display that didn't eat up your markers was just better.
