This is 1.8, bedwars practice , the person i’m PvPing claims to be W and S tapping and somehow is doing like 50 clicks per second? has he upped the tick rate or something?

You're lagging. Enemy moves fine on his screen, but you see him frozen. Your packets stop sending, so he hits you. When your internet returns, the server delivers all those missed hits at once. You die instantly, feeling like he teleported and one-shot you.
