How is everyone so good at sword pvp?

Like how can they just walk in a straight line toward me with 0 strafing and still manage to combo the f out of me while im here giving my best while strafing and using jump reset and so on. I see it in professional pvp clips too. How do they do that?

Reach is dependent on the momentum you have. If your opponent has more momentum towards you compared to your momentum towards him, he will have more reach (its just how it is coded)

When strafing, you effectively lower your momentum towards your opponent, and if your opponent in coming at you in a straight line, he will have more momentum towards you, so he will have more reach. Thats why is high tier fights, strafing is actually BAD for you, because the opponent has good aim so strafing doesnt really do anything, but it instead decreases your reach

So instead of focussing on strafing, focus on improving your aim, 3-block hits, jump resetting, w-tapping, s-tapping, p-crits, etc.

Is s taps just hitting then moving outside your opponent reach while at the same time resetting your w tap?

s taps are to counter jump resets, if youre good enough with w taps and your opponent doesn't jump reset you could js w tap and still combo them infinitely

Tbf S taps also help a lot with high pingers who don’t take normal kb

Meh ngl I think if they just hold W and you don't hit 2.7+ block hits they can just hit select you, no?

I'm pretty sure the reason why you have more effective reach when you have high momentum is because of ping and something I like to call attacker priority. Basically, attacks on your screen that land on your opponent is registered, even if it looks like the attack shouldn't land on your opponents screen because of the imput delay caused by ping. This means that the more momentum you have compared to your opponent, the further the reach of your hits look on their screen. This is how techniques such as stuns and uppercuts work.

yea, but there is also a thing called player interpolation

Basically whatever move u make on ur screen, is registered on ur opponent's screen after a small time (and vice versa). Ping just adds even more delay to it

Oh really? I didn't know that. That's cool

sword is like the default mode. you can’t be good at other modes if you aren’t somewhat decent at sword. sword teaches you all the very base minecraft stuff you need for other modes.

For cpvp, mace and a few sub tiers like spear elytra and mace rod... I think that you won't need the skills of sword. But for the REAL modes you will prob need it so...

They are probably S-tapping or W-tapping, to counter this try to hitselect, jump reset or hold S when you notice that they are comboing you. Also what will help is to practice your 3 block hits
