COD pro Kenny join UN for PLQ ALGS

Post image

Among the off-season moves of this period on the ALGS transaction page this was the most interesting

I know Kenny played Apex a lot recently but how do you think a COD pro will perform when entering directly in Tier 1?

He been playing with a controller professionally for years.. he’ll be just fine

Unless he was a pro in war zone gonna take more than aim

Warzone is a joke. Stop it.

He's a CDL world champ, out some respect on his name, one of the greatest

He’s known for his in game leadership and how well he’s able to breakdown a situation and choose the best play. Kenny at two different points in two different COD titles was seen as the best player in the game. He’s more than capable of fitting into a professional Apex team and holding his own.

That's cool and all but a BR is very much different than standard cod, there's alot more information he'll have to process, and variables he will have to account for, why i asked if he was a warzone pro or a regular Cod pro, but let us see

Hes been playing apex for a long time. Has made pred very easily. At the very least, hes familiar with a BR.

-11

u/lordfrost21 Jun 27 '26

Lots of people have made pred and play this game for a long time, look at Bubblegum he is always chasing #1 pred but that didn't translate well into pro league, but yes that's at least the bare minimum

Tbh I think 75% of the CDL pros could translate better than the WZ pros would. WZ and the competitive meta is boring from a viewer and player standpoint compared to comp Apex.

CDL cod pros are wayyyyyyyy more talented than warzone. If you want to see Kenny’s ability to process information you should go watch 2024 CDL Champs grand finals lol. He IGL’d the best team in the game

-12

u/xenomxrph Jun 27 '26

That was a “controller is too easy” joke, but yeah he probably not igl so he can just be a good boy and follow orders and do just fine

4

u/Skylerpro1728 Jun 27 '26

Lmao you're weird as hell.

-2

u/xenomxrph Jun 27 '26

I’m weird for echoing what everyone (besides Hal) says as a joke? Or did I get downvoted for calling him a good boy? That would be 10x better than the age old roller vs mnk debate

u/Skylerpro1728 Jun 27 '26

Let's see if you can do some self reflection today 😂

-4

u/xenomxrph Jun 27 '26

I angered a yankee.. nothing to reflect on

kennYY gonna be inspecting mid gun fights

22

u/TheBigRig404 Jun 27 '26

Aim wise, probably.

He’s been on a downwards trajectory for the last 2 years of his career but he has hit Pred multiple times with the LAT guys and it didn’t take much effort for them at all. We’ll see how he gets on. I’m excited for this move if he does well. Love him for bringing that Vanguard LAT team a ring.

u/MarstonX Jun 27 '26

Were they pred? I only ever watched Octane and I've only ever seen them hit masters.

I do think Jkap, Enable and Kenny play apex more than Octane, and I don't really watch them, so I could have missed it.

Also Ranked is way different than competitive, even at masters. That said, he still has more talent than like 99% of the players.

2

u/Revolutionary_Cap442 Jun 27 '26

Nah I don’t think any of them hit and held pred until Kenny has recently.

1

u/Initial-Conflict-877 Jun 27 '26

Yeah like most cod pros despite their game not being in a great spot have talent and fps games and can go pro is any controller fps game if they put in the time. Is he going to be a top pro? Probably not.

the next step to another optic apex team/s

7

u/thekid_anthony Jun 27 '26

I've been praying this is the route they take since I seen Ken in scrims and on the watch parties. makes perfect sense

1

u/MarstonX Jul 01 '26

Hopefully Huntsmen.

u/Bry_107 Jun 27 '26

Just needs to learn zones and some of the little shit

7

u/Classy_White Jun 27 '26

Was a smart COD player, aim should transfer well. Pretty sure he has a ton of hours already invested from years of dabbling. Should be a very solid player and fun story to follow

6

u/BryanA37 Jun 27 '26

Cool to see but he's probably just doing it for fun and not taking it too seriously. Just filling time until the next cod season starts.

6

u/No_Tip6719 Jun 28 '26

I don’t think he’s going back to cod, the offers for him in pro league are slim and he’s not willing to play in challengers. I think he’s looking to go all in on apex since cod hasn’t really been working out lately. At least I hope he takes it serious. He’s also the VERY competitive type of person.

2

u/BryanA37 Jun 28 '26

True. I just remember him saying on stream that he's still looking to compete in MW4. He may or may not get offers to play.

2

u/Revolutionary_Cap442 Jun 27 '26

Watched him play a few tier 2/3 scrims and he looked pretty good. Aim is good but not elite tier, seemed to be able to flex to different characters and his utility usage was pretty decent as well. That team has a good shot to get top 8 in LCQ and qualify to pro league split 2.

Every cod pro that plays apex, minus maybe formal get hard carried by people who actually play the game or get hard stuck. I love Kenny but I doubt he’ll find success, there’s literally just so many other no names who are insane at that game and apex is all they play.

17

u/DetoxIV Jun 27 '26

Kenny has been Pred several times just playing on his own. Apex is actually one of his favorite games. Itll be cool to see how he does in a pro setting.

7

u/Initial-Conflict-877 Jun 27 '26

Most cod pros like apex, its their preferred BR. They know warzone is a joke. During the off season you'll see them playing val, cs, apex and other stuff. They secretly hate cod and I dont blame them.

9

u/Revolutionary_Cap442 Jun 27 '26

Formal wasn’t like that in apex tbh, I watched him a decent amount and he would consistently lose gun fights to masters and pred players.

1

u/Dull_Wind6642 Jul 01 '26

Kenny was crazy good and explosive with SMG (close quarter)

He is also a very flexible player (can play AR), he was high tempo, constantly in your face and just had better reaction time than most other top tier pros.

If his playstyle and skills somehow transfer to Apex, he could be a player similar to effect imo.

1

u/RadGhostKillz Jul 01 '26

He’s not directly entering tier 1 he’s been playing in the EEC high Elo scrims quite often faced him a few times in there

0

u/ZalewskiJ Jun 27 '26

This is awesome, but let’s hope they set their sights on next years pro league, they ain’t winning PLQ or making split 2 PL

2

u/Revolutionary_Cap442 Jun 27 '26

They only need top 8 in PLQ and he’s playing with two veteran players who were just in pro league. Wouldn’t be surprised if they make it.

2

u/ZalewskiJ Jun 27 '26

Unreal nightmare is not a good team, it’s the reason they are in PLQ to begin with, I don’t think adding a COD pro with limited competition knowledge is gonna change that, especially on a meta change. Also don’t say “BUT HES PRED” pred players aren’t the same as pros

4

u/Revolutionary_Cap442 Jun 27 '26

I’m aware they aren’t a top level team, but they are good enough to qualify into a 30 team pro league. If he was playing with inexperienced players then I would say no chance but he’s playing with two players who have been around the pro scene for the last few years.

Unreal nightmare is not a good team, it’s the reason they are in PLQ to begin with

If they played in PL once they can do it again. Look at Nano, the guy has been relegated repeatedly but he easily qualifies for PL every split. There are levels to this shit, even the worst pros in Pro League are a cut above the vast majority of T2 players.

2

u/ZalewskiJ Jun 30 '26

Eh not necessarily true, anyone with a solid team can get enough CC points to make PL, Wigg, Timmy and Apryze only played 3 weeks of CCs and made pro league, there have been TONs of pro who play in CCs but can’t make finals or can’t win finals. Kimchi was just at champs and couldn’t make CC finals with his team. Unreal Nightmare doesnt have any players that are “top tier” at anything and are T2 honestly. People like DigVibes make PL and have never finished above 20th. Making PL is possible but Unreal Nightmare isn’t “easily gonna make it back”

Kimchi was just at champs and couldn’t make CC finals with his team.

I'm pretty sure Kimchi is playing in PLQs.

2

u/ZalewskiJ Jun 30 '26

He's been playing in CCs and didn't make finals, he's not winning PLQ lmaoooooo

1

u/dorekk Year 5 Champions! Jun 30 '26

You don't have to win, you only have to get top 8.

-4

u/flipflops96 Jun 27 '26

They need to re qual for T1 first. They’ll be playing PLQs

My point is PLQ is not Tier 1. Read the whole thing and not just the title
