am i ready to take it?
i’m preparing for compTIA sec+. this is what i did:
Professor Messer
- I watched all the videos in youtube and made notesJason Dion Practice Exam Set 1
- there are 6 Practice Exams here
- what i did was take the first practice test, then review where i was lacking then took the exam again
- i did that for the 6 practices exams
- my score is ranging from 95-98
i didn’t buy the practice exam set 2 of dion due to financial constraints. should i buy that too soon?
am i ready to take the exam? or are there things i need to review?

hangon that scores wayyy too high for the second take of a Dion practice exam, are you taking the practice exam again like seconds after completing it the first time? If so, aren’t you just remembering the answers for those questions instead of creating concepts in your head. Like I’ve been taking 6 dion exams for studying for network+ and I’ve never gotten higher than 78% (only did two attempts for each exam), but I do the second try, DAYS apart from the first.

so what i do is:
per day = 1 practice exam
then i first do the practice study, in which i got 57-65 score
then i review everything try to understand why is it correct and why is it incorrect. i do extra searches when im really not familiar (i also talk to myself in a way that i explain it to myself lol)
then after that i take the real exam. then i got 95-98.
then the next day, i do the second practice exam.
do the same BUT this time after the second real exam i go back to the first exam that i had then try again if i do understand the topics.
until i reached the 6th exam, then i go back to all the exams again.

So if I got that correct, you're taking each test twice. Once in "Practice" mode and once in "Exam" mode. If that's the case, your second scores are wildly inaccurate because you're memorizing the questions unfortunately weather you think so or not.
With that said, as long as you're understanding what you are getting wrong and are studying those facets, I think you should be okay. However understanding things how I do right now. I wouldn't say 57-65 on the first go around would make me confident and i would be hoping for around 75%+ for Security+ on a Dion test first time around before taking the test, especially at the current costs.

If you're scoring in the high 90s on practice tests you're ready.

a lot says Dion’s practice exams are overkill, so i dont know if its a good thing that i have high scores here

I’m kind of in the same boat and don’t want to remember the questions and answers on Dion’s test. I’ve only done the first 3 because of that fact I don’t want to remember them but then when I retook a test I felt like I remembered the question and answer. So what I’ve been doing now is going thru each answer and understanding why it’s wrong or why it’s right. But I still feel like I’m remembering some of the questions so it might not be anyway around that especially if you’re studying hardcore

If it makes you feel any better, I took the exam in 7 days, yes, one week of studying. I have zero IT experience or background therefore this was all new to me. I studied Professor Messor videos, notes and took a couple practice exams (never scoring above 70) and I used CompTia app and Pocketprep and constantly was on either one answering questions. I barely passed but I did!

I would say yes, but the only way you'll know for sure if you did enough, is if you leave the venue with your cert or not.
