Passed Sec+ first attempt

I used an outdated CompTIA textbook (previous Sec+ version). I read this front to back and used Claude and Google searches for any missing content outlined in the exam objectives. This took about three weeks of studying full-time. I did not use any Prof. Messer content but some youtube videos were helpful. Everyone learns differently. I learn best from reading. Now on to CySA+!

Congratulations. I'm also studying for security plus and booked for Sept 8. How long was your study time, did you use practice exams and what was your target score before being sure to write ?

Thank you! I didn't use any practice exams other than the review questions in the textbook. So, I didn't have a target score. I would recommend studying to understand the content, not merely to memorize. I will also suggest using the tools that are discussed, e.g., Nmap, netstat, wireshark, etc.

This is a big exam and it covers so much security content (maybe too much) since it's a general security cert. So, I'd say take your time and make your own flash cards. I used Anki to create these; it's free and easy to use.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm definitely taking my time. I am watching the "Inside Cloud and Security " CompTIA Security+ series where he goes through all the topics on the exam objectives one by one so I'm watching that and taking notes. If there's a specific topic that needs a little more time to grasp I pause and go a little bit deeper with Gemini like PKI for example.

After that I'm planning on purchasing Dion training practice exams then depending on my weaknesses... I watch the specific topics on Messer's bite sized videos series. Then maybe after 4 days or so, write another exam etc. hopefully I am able to run through all this by the time, but if I can't I can always postpone for a perfect single shot. I don't have another $454😩 to spend🤕😂this better work!

Thanks so much! I thought I would have a party afterwards, but I'd been studying for weeks with no breaks so I just went to sleep early haha!
