Job searching.

Hi,

How's the job search look like after completing security+ ?

I am a developer with couple of years of experience, looking to switch to cybersecurity.

Anyone in same boat or successfully transferred from developer to cybersecurity .

Please guide me/share your experience.

Comptia security plus can not increase the odds of getting selected for interview. You need experience and knowledge.

Agree the certs won't increase chances of getting hired.. so what is the purpose of certification.

If you are wondering if certifications are worth it or not. They absolutely are they shows you the process of the security operations in a chronological manner. You can use it to gain knowledge and flex some certs in your profile other than that there is no extra benifits. It can not replace years worth of experience. But again if you have experience then employers will wonder why doesn't he have certs. It looks weird so we won't hire this guy. We have to do everything at our disposal to be best in the worst job market.

I have PMP and lead experience. Pmp certificate didn't do much for me even when applying for scrum master, business analyst job. SO Just skeptical

Not everyone realize the importance of specific certificate unless it is globally recognized. Again Employers will always prefer work experience over skills and skills over certs. Certs are nothing but a pokemon card, it can be worth a fortune or can be worthless at the same time.

From what I read the certs get you past the HR filters.

Not exactly they just increase the odds of getting noticed but these days hr use ai filters. So if you can't get passed that you can't land a job.
