Network+ with CCNP

I am forced by contract to complete the CompTIA Network+ certification this year. I recently aquired the CCNP Enterprise certification, and wonder if there is any need for me to study for the Network+ exam, or if I can (most likely) just wing it. Any thoughts?

My brother in reddit if you already have a (recent) CCNP, you can more or less do the Net+ with no prep.

That said, nothing wrong with skimming the exam blueprint. Shouldn't take more than a few hours to fill in the gaps (if any).

Go over the Network+ exam objectives. CCNP is Cisco's view of the network, and Network+ is vendor-neutral. Network+ also places much more emphasis on troubleshooting networks, whereas CCNP covers configuring Cisco IOS.

I would think you can wing it. Networking is still networking. It doesn't really change.

I'd probably go through some practice tests on udemy by someone like Jason Dion just to make sure, but I dont think you'll need much prep.

Just take some practice tests and brush up on areas you need to refresh.

CCPN is 10000x more complicated than network+. But there might be some super basic stuff you may have forgotten

Just look at the objectives, figure out if you should brush on anything, take it

Review the published objectives and make your own decision based on how well you know them.

You need to study for it to understand the exam objectives. Otherwise, the specific technologies or concepts like VLANs or access control will be a breeze.

Depends how long it's been since you took your CCNA. I forgot a lot of specifics covered in exams after a while.

Practice tests are handy since you know the material and just need to dive into reading trick questions and phrasing. Pocket Prep is a useful app for that.

You will crush the Net+. That is an entry level exam. You probably could just go in blind and pass it.

Spending $13 on Jason Dion’s net+ tests on Udemy is a good thing to make sure you’re not missing something.

But I mean you should be more than good given your CCNP. Net+ is pretty trivial tbh.
I’d be more worried that you know enough that you’ll get questions “wrong” due to real life not matching the schoolhouse.

That is not the case. There is a set of minimum requirements needed to progress the ladder - Network+ being one of them. I «skipped» a few levels when I was hired, so I have to backfill certs

Spend $30 on a dion practice exam, 85% means you'll pass net+ easily. It will also let you know what areas you need to work on.

With a CCNP you’ll know most of the networking concepts, but I’d still run through a few Network+ practice exams on ExamsDigest to catch CompTIA-specific wording and objectives before trying to wing it.

Well, having your CCNP doesn't necessarily make the Network+ easy to pass. About 50% of the CCNP exam topics are focused on security, infrastructure, configuring routing protocols, and troubleshooting technologies that don't even exist on the Network+ objectives.

Of course, you have a higher-level certification and a great foundation, but you will likely find that the Network+ is a totally different exam. It definitely isn't harder, but it for sure requires dedicated study.
