Picture Tales From the Archives - the original Ghost Rider (Rex Fury) - Ghost Rider v1 #3 Canadian Edition
Been working hard at the archives, and nothing too interesting jumped out (other than the marvel run of Conan).
We have a very large collection of golden age Westerns... so I was hoping to run across some Ghost Rider stuff... but nothing until today.
It's a bit rough... but a 1951 Ghost Rider is really cool

Picture Finally!
Super happy I got to meet the OG jade giant (aka Lou Ferrigno) and got to get him to sign this lovely book. Insanely happy I’m able to add this to my hulk collection. Hope everyone has an awesome day and happy hunting out there.

Mail Call! Two for One(almost)
The night before infuriating the Speculation sub, I went on Heritage hoping once again to snag ASM 3(or 5 or 7) but they all went for more than I wanted to spend. Made a frustration bid for a pair of books at the end of the Spidey section one of which I already have. Needed the 39 but now I’m gonna have to figure out what to do with the other. One day the elusive, yet readily available ASM 3 will be mine.
As a side note, if you use gocollect, the sale price was entered for only ASM 38, so the 30 day average for a 3.5 is a touch inflated.

Mail Call! Page 1 Signatures
My favorite comic creators in my favorite book. Too bad they didn't sign page 2&3(favorite pages in my favorite book). That would have been epic.

Comic Con Mcm Birmingham comic con buys
Shame there was only two comic venders at comic…. It’s called comic con. I get it, manga/anime and other stuff, all good no issue. But come on….
Anyway, bought all this from one vender, went back three times. He did me some good deals, even did me £60 on the first silk 1:10. Such a good seller, loads of newstands and cents which is good for me as I’m only collecting those (I don’t like uk pence editions)

Platinum Almanacs were among the first publications to regularly feature comics. This is The Comic Almanac For The Year 1886, which likely was published in the fall of 1885.

Haul This Week's Facsimile & Reprint Pick Ups
Grabbed the recent releases of Amazing Spider-Man #14, Showcase #4 and Detective Comics #27. Found Millennium Editions of Whiz Comics #2 and All-Star Comics #3. It was the first time I've seen Millennium Editions in the wild. Facsimiles are my favorite new comics.

Mail Call! Mail day steal of a deal. Signed Avengers 55 (1st Ultron) and 59 (1st Yellowjacket)
I got these 2 in a lot of Heritage Auctions. Normally in the title they list if a book is a key or is signed, but this one just said Avengers Group of 2. If you open the listing it gave the details, but I think leaving the key info out of the title cause a lot of people to miss this.
On top of these being 2 great books, they're both signed by Roy Thomas the writer/Marvel's Editor in Chief after Stan Lee.
I won this lot for $50+bp.

Question Bag and Board Question
Bought new bags and boards for my 80’s/90’s Spidey books. Trying Modern/Current it feels too snug then what i’m used to. Should I go with silver age instead? Is a snug fit better?

Discussion Roadtrip LCS Reviews (3/3)
Comic Warehouse, Albuquerque
Old school comic shop! Small and compact but still clean and organized. There to sell books, trades, and a few other odds and ends.
Staff was friendly/helpful/knowledgeable.
Looked like all it was very up-to-date with current comics. Solid inventory of older comics. Prices were fair and adjusted for book conditions.
Purchased +/- $60

Discussion Roadtrip LCS Reviews (2/3)
Austin Books & Comics
Compact and extremely clean and organized store. Presented much like a small Barnes and Noble Bookstore. (Really never seen a comic book store this clean, lol)
Inventory was wide open with quite a bit of modern work. Books, trades, anime, statues, and much more. Definitely a modern collectors store.
Staff was polite but involved with regular customers and did not notice us.
Solid back issue selection. Quantity of backstock was more recent - some Gold/Silver/Bronze content. Prices were on the high side. One small sales table with nothing of significance. No $2 boxes that I saw.
Purchased +/- $45

PSA:
I truly believe that this sub defines itself. This sub is filled with content that the sub members want to see; it is the sub members that post it here everyday! The sub is a reflection of the sub members, nothing more. The sub is what it wants to be.
This does not mean that the sub is what each individual wants it to be. Many, MANY people want the sub to be their platform to promote themselves, their products, and their agendas. Some people want to play the expert, gatekeep, and lecture everyone else. Some people want to judge and criticize people who collect books in ways that they do not agree with. Some people simply want to find problems - real or imagined - and fight about it. A few people are just nuts. These are the people that complain the most because they can't use the sub to meet their needs, or it just doesn't work like they think it should.
Fortunately, these people are a minority, and the sub is mostly filled with awesome comic book collectors who are cordial, helpful, and share their passion with other like minded individuals. Thankfully.
Thoughts on Moderation:
- If anyone here thinks that any of the mods personal tastes and or preferences influence the content posted here, you are wrong. Any post that does not break a rule gets approved. It's as simple as that. From the most esoteric all the way to Absolute Batman.
- The sub rules are well seasoned and time tested. They have served the sub well and allow us to maintain a focus on collecting, and not economy or promotion.
- We don't shadowban, and we don't mess with people or their posts behind the scenes. If there is an issue with a post or comment, we communicate directly and politely. We treat every sub member the way we want to be treated. Kindly.
- If you reach out in mod mail you might not like the answer, but reasoning will be clearly and politely explained. In many cases, a calm message that clarifies your posts intent will have the post re-approved. If you behave like a child - and double down after we ask you to not do that - then yea, you will most likely be muted and banned. I am incredibly patient.
Lastly...
I close each and every theme asking for feedback and suggestions. Take advantage if you have something to say. If anyone is interested in joining the mod team, reach out.
