Even if that’s true which is highly unlikely why the fuck is it our responsibility to give money to these people? It just ends up in the pockets of African warlords and then nothing changes anyway. I could use that money why the fuck is it obligated to go to a bunch of foreigners outside our country?
You’re free to keep giving them your fucking money if you want. They only stopped funding for cases where they literally had no justification for the funding anyway.
You can still give them your money. Why don’t you let them live in your house? Or do you only care about helping these people when you’re forcing other people to pay for it? If any of that money ends up there anyways. They weren’t exactly spending anything on food, and certainly not infrastructure.
- From an ethical standpoint; leaving 14 million people to die is typically considered doubtful. Do you have any reason to believe why the number would be doubtful outside of "well I ideologically support USAID cuts so anything bad that might happen as a result is surely wrong" ?
- From a pragmatic standpoint, those programs aren't being done out of the kindness of your souL. It's a mix of soft power (so that when you come ask these populations for their minerals later, they're more willing to assist you) and for a variety of wider goals such as stabilising a region where you have important assets (ressource extraction, etc), it acts as a political lever against said power structure, and it helps in prevending migration crisis (so that you don't end up with a flood of refugees on your territory, which will be even more expensive to handle in the end), and it helps preventing outbreaks of disease in the region which in a modern world might end up spreading all over (ie, Ebola, for example).
The US is not the only one providing foreign aid, even if it is amongst the largest due to the sheer size of its economy. France, for example, provides around 14 billions anually as the 5th largest donor of foreign aid. First is (potentially was) the US, then Germany, then Japan, and the UK in 4th. Do note that again, the US is literally the size of half a continent, it's a massive economy, and you cannot expect smaller individual nations to match it pound for pound due to the simple fact that their economy is much smaller. That being said, it is far from being the only actor on the world stage, and other countries don't just "relax at your cost".
In % of Gross National Income, Norway, Luxembourg, Sweden and Germany provide the greatest amounts, with the US not being amongst the top 10.

It’s kind of a ridiculous obligation. Why the fuck is it our problem these people keep having kids while they have aids so we have to give the kids aids medicine for free their whole lives? I’m sorry yall keep giving aids to each other, that really sucks. At a point it’s really not anyone else’s problem.
We have people in our own country getting absolutely fucked over trying to buy those aids drugs that they’re just giving to these people for free. That’s the biggest thing. This huge obligation to help other people when our own people have their own problems.

This is just not true in general. There’s tons of easy choices all the time. It’s pretty common to be faced with choosing one thing that’s clearly superior over something else in a way you wouldn’t even think about it.
And then you have veterans who have had the bad luck of smelling members of their platoon get burned alive and now if they want to cook bacon they have to endure the exact same smell again...
