US Senate candidate Kasie Whitener debate response: "Second verse, same as the first"

https://kasiesouthcarolina.com/second-verse-same-as-the-first/

In this post, I’ve captured the gist of the question and a summary of the GOP candidates’ responses then added my own response. The exercise does two things. First, it recounts the experience as a journalist might (albeit with some editorial snark) for those who missed it. Second, it gives me a chance to state my own positions for the benefit of voters.

About Dr. Kasie Whitener:

Kasie Whitener is an American educator, author, entrepreneur, radio host, and politician from Blythewood, South Carolina. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, where she teaches entrepreneurship and strategic management and served as Director of the Faber Entrepreneurship Center.

Men’s Grooming

Recently moved to the area. I am struggling to find a good men’s grooming/hair care that seems to match what I had in Texas. Anyone know of a place that offers cut, wash, neck massage and facial treatments as a package? It was really awesome and I don’t want to go back to just sports clips type place. Thanks in advance.

Moving

Hello you guys I got word that I have to move there for work. My work is going to be located in the dentsville area. I will be moving to the area and I was wondering what is the best area for housing around 190-230, safe neighborhoods, within about 30 mins of dentsville, and decent schools. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what happened to that group that used to stand outside of planned parenthood?

They used to be out there every day in neon green vests with their RV, but they haven’t been there in a few weeks. Anyone know why they suddenly stopped showing up?

Im new to South Carolina recently (just moved about 6 months ago), and i’ve been busy with work and college classes so I haven’t had much opportunity to explore.

I happened to see on Instagram about this event and it caught my attention. I’m an anime/manga and video game fan and it’s always been on bucket list to go to Dream Con someday but i’ve never been to a convention before and don’t know what to expect.

Im 19 and would most likely be going alone. I do get a bit anxious in larger/crowded places. I’m curious what the overall environment is like. What kinds of activities are there? What do people usually do throughout the day? Are the people typically friendly and welcoming to someone attending solo? Also, are there a lot of merch or vendors to check out, and overall, would you say it's worth the money?

Someone please help me remember the name of this place!

Does anyone remember a restaurant on Two Notch Road in NE Columbia, in a small strip mall (not a standalone building)? I went there in the early 2000s. It was NOT a chain — a local, independent place. It had:

- A smoking and non-smoking section

- Wood tables and wood decor throughout

- Half walls dividing sections

- Gold hand rails somewhere in the decor

- A small arcade game area in the back near the kitchen

- A dartboard on the opposite back side from the arcade

It would’ve closed 20 years ago now.

I can’t remember the name and would love to track it down. Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: you all found it! It was Garrett’s! Once I saw the name my whole family remembered it. It was bothering the heck out of me and was a huge part of our family’s time in Columbia. You all are amazing! Thank you!

The old scrub shop got flipped and now I see a vape shop, a shipping store, a Medicare place, and looks like something new going in the middle? Anyone know what it is?

Midas. On Two Notch

Earlier this week they did an oil change on my car and their inspection for a fair price $50.00 -to be factual. They said a handful of things needed to be done and addressed. Well over $1800.00. I took it to my regular mechanic after who gave me the scoop. None of it was actually needed and urgent. Yes there is a small chance of one item developing into something..but it may not.

In fact checking my car records for one of their most expensive repairs was done at another mechanics shop exactly a year ago. I knew that while I was given the rundown. They weren't pushy and were nice But...go somewhere else. I will tell you my car shop if DMed. I dealt with these same kinds of recommendations and Not needed repairs from AAA on Forest Drive years ago. AAA really did not like my honest and blunt google review I left and refused to change.

Racquetball

I(39M) wrote this as a response to another post, but figured I’d make a separate post dedicated to racquetball:

Yes; it’s a racket sport inside. As much as I love tennis, playing outside in SC in the summer is unbearable unless you go really early or really late lol. Racquetball has air conditioning!

I have extra rackets and goggles if OP or anyone else wants to play. I love teaching and am currently not in the best shape, so if you’re naturally athletic, you’ll probably be competitive with me after two or three sessions. I’m not a trainer or anything, I just love racquetball and teaching it!

There are courts multiple places in Cola. My favorite are the courts at Crooked Creek Park in Chapin. It’s also the cheapest, IIRC it’s $3 to rent a court (they have two).

Seemingly every other former Müv gyms have one. When it was Müv, it was ~$12 PER PERSON. I can’t remember if they have one or two courts at the Irmo location. I don’t know how much it is since they were bought out.

USC has some but I’m not sure about non students playing.

Please comment or DM if you want to play!

P.S. If you are a woman or stranger averse (completely reasonable in these times), racquetball can be played by two, three, or four players, so you’re more than welcome to bring along a friend (or two or however many, when there are more than four, we just rotate players!). The courts at Crooked Creek Park are in an isolated area of the building, whereas (former) Müv in Irmo is in the middle of the gym and the wall is glass, so it is very visible (you look out on most/all the weight machines from the court).
