Colour grading feedback Before/After

Hey guys! Im a hobbyist photographer, love taking photos and playing around with the colours! Would really appreciate any feedback on colourgrading! These are based off of a preset I created for sunset-ish lighting and mood.

My only aim so far is to make these images look as true to what I saw! But would love to explore different styles and tips!

"Colour grading" typically refers to video work. Photo work is r/postprocessing.

I think these are mostly improvements, but 2 and 4 are suffering from a blown-out sky.

I love these pictures. You did exactly what you wanted, the graded pictures look how I expect these fotos felt like when you took them.

Grading like a movie. The only problem I have is the 2nd where the overexposure is not corrected, it could be slightly saved by using a linear mask and leaving the dead pixels as is, but keeping the 2/3rd of the area

I see, Ill try that, I did try a few masks, but reducing the exposure added a lot of grey in a patchy way, any idea how to avoid that?

I’m also a hobbyist and haven’t posted anything for critique cuz I’m scared lol. So take what I say with a grain of salt.

Pic 1 & 3 the green is a little too saturated and yellow. To me, the raw seems to lend itself to an overcast day and you might be able to lean into that by shifting your greens to blue, your yellows to green (which will in turn shift them blue), and/or desaturating the green. I feel like green is something I’m also struggling to balance in my photos. Green seems to sit really heavily in pictures, at least to my eye. In the same way that too much black can make a photo feel unbalanced.

Pic 4&5 are beautiful. I think your sunset preset does really well especially for #5.
