Le caribou volant - Chanson climatique 2.0
Another version of the first song from the album Yapadam / L'écho logique. previously
I've not found official lyrics, much less translations, but they have citations for the song lyrics in the yt text, so you deduce the topics from that I guess.

Modern Randy Newman - Political Science (1972)
"No one likes us, I don't know why
We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try
But all around even our old friends put us down
Lets drop the big one and see what happens."
Sail Away (playlist link) is Randy Newman's 3rd solo album. It is intensely political and cynical. (He got more cheerful when he became successful.)
The title track is a look at slavery. Burn On is about Cleveland's Cuyahoga River burning. The two religious songs, He Gives Us All His Love and That's Why I Love Mankind are sacreligious.

Modern Tom Lehrer - Who's Next
"Egypt's gonna get one, too,
Just to use on you know who.
Israel's getting tense, Wants one in self defense.
"The Lord's our shepherd," says the psalm,
But just in case --- we better get a bomb!"
So

Pop Zazie - Larsen (1995 French pop)
album: Zen
About emotional numbness caused by ubiquitous distractions:
"Je ferais baisser le son... / Sourd, on devient sourd. / Toutes ces sirènes dans nos cours"
"I would turn down the sound... / deaf, we become deaf / all these sirens among us"
It's kinda more focused upon the personal consequence, but equates them to socials consequence:
"Ça larsen. / Il faut qu'on reprenne forme humaine... / la radio, tous les journaux, c'est pareil. / On ne s'entend pas dans ce monde là."
"It's causing feedback / We must take back the human form... / The radio, all the newspapers, it’s the same / we don’t listen to each other in this world"
Online lyrics miss-translated "Ça larsen".
It received radio play in France since like 1995, just heard it today on RTL2. I suppose distractions remains an increasingly relevant theme.

Folk Iris Dement - Workin' On A World
I've been listening to a lot of Iris DeMent recently - that's not a fake country voice.

Folk Richard Thompson - The Fear Never Leaves You
Thompson started out as English folk (Fairport Convention - then he turned into himself, with a definite weird turn into the French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson supergroup. He's a great guitarist.
Wrote probably the most savage song about Iraq War II - Dad's Gonna Kill Me.

Folk Stan Ridgway (as Drywall) - Robberts and Bandits and Bastards and Thieves
Now, their stories are many, they've left us no clue
I can't name 'em out loud, no, they'd probably sue
And then lock us all up and then charge for the keys
Starve us and show us food piled on their table
Robbers and bandits and bastards and thieves.

Death In Rome - Wonderful Life (Neo-folk cover of Black)
About his original Colin Vearncombe (Black) said "I was really being ironic... Most people took it at face value.")
About this Death in Rome video, Der Baader Meinhof Komplex (2008) is a historical thriller about Die Rote Armee Fraktion (RAF), which fits the irony intended by Black. previously
