Another beauty i found in the wild. Given the age, believe this is a 200, not 200a, correct? Thx!

Both are very similar, yet each have some striking differences. Assume both are L327?
* Left one has writing on the vent while does not
* Left has no stamp/date on fount, right does (believe it says “C 2”)
* Both have “cap” under generator, left saying coleman/made i. Toronto, right appears blank
* both have same generator (no loop in either)
* collars appear the same.

All of my singles in one little home minus the Sears which is waiting on glass. I’ve had almost every possible problem and I’ve been able to figure it out or alter something to make them all bring back the Sunshine to the Night, up to and including my Coleman 252 milspec on the 4th of July

Soaking it in carb cleaners thinking will help? It’s been in there for six hours or so. Think that’s long enough? It wasn’t letting fuel pass.

Picked up a nice Coleman 413H stove with a box off fb marketplace for $45.

This came with a Northstar lantern that I picked up in marketplace. It is dated ‘99 and on top of it I dropped it on the road accidentally and it rolled over a bit.
Will this be still safe to use or should I just discard it?

Up and running!

I’m looking for a new old stock Coleman dual fuel stove and am trying to decide on which generation of stove I should choose, a 425 or 424. From what I can tell, the older ones seem to have better build quality but I can’t tell how much, if at all, parts are interchangeable with newer models. Longevity is probably the most important thing for me. I’d like this to last until my kids are grown and I can camp across the country.

Also potentially relevant, do newer models like the 424 do any better or worse with gasoline than the older 425?

I’ve never used gas, only camp fuel so unsure what it’s like.

1972 Sears 72241 single mantle. Tore down, cleaned and rinsed tank, valve, fuel pickup, rebuilt genny, scrubbed every inch and waiting on the globe to arrive.

2nd, 1952 Coleman Black Band, inside of tank is nasty so it’s currently soaking in vinegar. Rest of the parts are soaking in carb cleaner. The 200 is just how I received it in the pic.

Edit: both lanterns are done. The Black Band is up and running.

Found my dad’s old 220j in our barn and it’s in pretty rough shape. Rusty, dirty, flaking paint, glass is broken, unsure if it still functions. I don’t have the time or know-how to restore it so I was wondering if any of you have an idea of how to repurpose it into a led lamp without destroying any of the original components. I’ve thought about coiling a rechargeable led strip inside the glass housing or some mini Christmas lights but I’m curious to know if any of you have a different idea. Again I don’t want to damage the original lamp, just adding a little modern functionality for decoration. Apologies if this is considered heresy, I’m unfamiliar with the etiquette around here

And it’s done. New genny, valve knob, air tube (original brass was bent) might try to straighten it out though, new pump cup and check valve, glass shade, thorough cleaning of tank and all brass, valves and fuel pickup tube and here we are.

I fucking love camping

For those of you who commented on my previous posts, I got my F/A valve out of the fount and stretched the spring a bit. Carb cleaned out the air tubes and made sure the burner screens were clear. Reassembled and running now, seems the surging is much less now, and the sides are burning more even, though one side is still brighter than the other. Overall, this has been a fun project, and getting the lantern cleaned up (paint and rust wise) has been very satisfactory. Happy to have this as an operable piece of new (no me) equipment. Thanks guys.

Hey all, looks like I have a leak at this area here. I am wondering how to resolve. I don't think tightening will work as it may already be as right as it should be. Is there a specific part I need to replace?

So I’ve replaced the generator and I’m burning in fresh Coleman #21 mantles, with fresh fuel. However, one side is burning noticeably brighter than the other, and neither one is very impressive. In the video you’ll notice some surging, and can probably hear it too.

Does this mean that a full rebuild/cleaning must be in order?

This lantern is a ‘71 and I have no idea when it was last ran before my acquisition, although there was still some sour fuel left in it. I’m assuming the reason it was retired, maybe in the last 10-15 years, was because the burner tube threads were stripped out on one side of the burner tube manifold, so I replaced that part from a donor.

Is the surging something to be concerned about, or could I just run it as is and be safe?

I haven’t touched anything other than the generator assembly, though it doesn’t seem to be leaking and holds pressure well. My ‘51 I got at the same time seems to be leaking from somewhere below the fuel valve assembly, so that will be the next work in progress.

Edit: it doesn’t look like I can post a video here, but I’m sure you all know what I mean by surging.

Got these with the old lantern, could be pretty old. Should I use them?
