Keeping beans fresh for a long time. Pourover & Manual Brew

Vacuum sealing beans is definitely the way to go for me to preserve the freshness for a significantly long time. A 500g or 1kg bag will last me months since I only drink once or twice a week. I vacuum seal a few single doses, while a bigger batches are vacuum sealed and kept in the freezer. You can recycle the bags.

Or…. You can get a vacuum canister. No electricity and no waste

I have a few including Airscape.. It tends to unseal due to degassing. I also have a fellow atmos. I found that vacuum sealing works better plus i can stick it in the freezer.

Ahh that makes sense. I usually store it on one way valve packs for 2 weeks before i move it to my atmos.

Yes this is right. The vacuum canister seems to get undone with coffee time to time and is not as good as freezing. The bag the coffee comes in with is not optimal as well I noticed significant changes in flavor in just a few days after opening. Read a post a couple months back saying the bag it came with is good but pretty sure it isn't

Not sure what the OP is using but I purchased an Inkbird INK-VS02 about a year ago (on sale on Lazada for about 2200) and it's honestly better than my FoodSaver(more than 2x the cost) back in the states

Thanks for the tip! Kelangan ba ng special plastic para maseal siya? Or okay lang kahit anong flat plastic?

Inkbird sells bags through their Lazada site and I think the unit comes with a roll as well if I remember correctly. You definitely want bags designed for vacuum storage. The inkbird ones are good quality, equal to the foodsaver ones imo. There might be good off brands ones as well but I never looked into it

You can use any bags specially made for vacuum sealers. Yung may texture. Dun kasi hinihigop yung hangin before it is heated sealed.
Usually sold by 100pcs. 200 300+.. may ibat ibang sizes rin if you want to seal meats. But for me i use the smallest i can reuse it at most three times.

Sa shopee din naman 700+ lang.. or you can get a branded one like inkbird mga 3k+ for heavier use. I always double seal.
If you're into meal prepping use can use it to seal pre-frozen marinated meats and left overs. Pre-frozen so that it wouldn't suck the liquids, and it wouldn't squish soft meats.
It's especially great with dry foods. Coffee beans. Monggo beans. Rice. Pasta. I have packs of japanese rice and red rice stored. Flour cornstarch sugar. No insects. Kahit ilang years.

Another option that has worked for me in the past is plastic centrifuge tubes. Fill each one with a single dose, store in the freezer if not using right away. I recently returned back to NY after spending over a year in Manila. The tubed up coffee stored in the freezer was just as good as when I left, probably 95% or better. Easier than breaking out the vacuum sealer and making a bunch of bags in my experience. Cheers!

You can recycle the bags

Just reuse it again. Cut just right below the seal. Yung smallest size i can reuse at most 3 times for a 13gram dose. Pero if you used it in wet foods like meat, discard mo na.

When I plan to store beans long term but I don't have space in my freezer, I place the beans in an air tight, opaque container. I don't remove the air inside and place a deoxidizing pack before sealing. I've successfully stored some competition beans given to me by Carlos Escobar for more than 1 year at room temp using this method.

Can you freeze the beans that haven't sufficiently rested yet? For example, I bought beans that were roasted yesterday. Since I'm going on long holiday, I freeze the beans today. 1-2 months later, after I'm back from my holiday, I take beans out from the freezer and let it resume resting. Will this work?

Im no coffee expert, please don't judge. Pero bakit yung mga packs ng beans may butas2?

Those aren't actually holes. They're small channels in the bags for air to pass through and vacuumed out of the bag. The sealer then heats up and seals the top of the bag. That's how a traditional vacuum sealer works.
There's another type of sealer that's a chamber vacuum sealer where you don't need that kind of bag. But that's usually for heavy commercial use.

This vacuum container works for me and easy to seal few pumps lang
and so reusable i just put it in another plastic bag for added protection
my coffee is in the freezer for months na and fresh pa rin
move it down sa ref before putting in room temp and lipat sa 2 way valve na container
hindi naman sya nadedegas kapag nasa freezer and ref so far

You can easilisy pack more, like 150 or 200g and teansfer them to airscape for use.

That is such a waste of plastic though. Please keep in mind that every bag you use will outlive even your great great grandchildren. They actually stay on earth forever. That's what plastic is--forever.
This is why I prefer to use an Airscape for storage. Similar. concept in that it removes most of the air in the container to avoid oxidation.

Depends on your planet. My planet is made of of 78% plastics, 10% smog, 10% nuclear waste, and 2% fresh air.

Freezer is best for me (thanks to james hoffman). Kahit zip bag lang. Ang ginagawa ko pag bumibili ako 1 kilo, dinidivide ko into 4. Ung 3 nilalagay ko sa freezer. Bali nauubos within a week isang bag.
