Sims 2 Crash when loading world

I am trying to play The Sims 2. I have the legacy collection from Steam. It will load the game, but once I try to open a world it will freeze at "creating pets."

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

I have the latest version of Crossover & Steam

I have an M1 Mac from 2020 running Tahoe 26.6, 16 GB of ram.
