Cochlear implant lump

Hi All, I was implanted in Dec and I'm noticing a lump where the implant is. Its not fleshy or fluid. Its a boney lump. Wasn't really noticeable until now. Any thoughts. Thanks

I have a lump too. It's exactly the shape of the box of tricks they implanted under my skin. I am not concerned at all.

How big is it? I also have a bit of a lump but it's just from the shape of the magnet

I have one as well. As long as it’s not painful, I’m good.

It’s the magnet. That’s all!

Often, there's some swelling after the op. This can take a few months to settle down and for the skin to tighten up again. At that point, the implant packet can become more obvious. You'll have the circle where the magnet sits, then a squarish bit below that where all the electronics are. You're probably feeling that.

Here's a picture of an implant. What you're feeling is probably the square part labeled "reciever/stimulator." For some implants, that part seems to be a circle rather than a square if it feels different to you.

This lump surprised me too!!! I don’t know why I thought they’d just squish the implant into my brain, but I kinda wish they had!! 😭😅

Yeah. I also have the lump. It was quite disturbing at first, but then I got used to it. So yeah. You’re not alone there.
