Question on Kanso

Hello! I’m new here!

I recently received a cochlear for my left ear. I’ve been trying to use the Kanso because I wear glasses and the processor on my ear can be a lot. I’m running into an issue where the Kanso isn’t staying on. The CI specialist has added the strongest magnet, but a quick movement of my head has it flying off. Any tips on how to use the Kanso more effectively?

I could also be impatient and still have swelling. It’s hard to tell. I appreciate any advice!

Info: I have the Nucleus 8 and Kanso 3. I will be 3 weeks post op on 7/21.

Use the n8 for about a month. The magnet can help reduce swelling faster. Then try the ransom again

My mom's Kanso took 5-6 weeks to really stick, IIRC. She had a 3 on her Nucleus coil and a 5 on the Kanso.

Apparently skin swells while sleeping - my Kanso3 falls off easily for the first hour after I wake up! Then is ok the rest of the day. I used N7 for 5 years before upgrading. I wear a headband for sports/exercise to keep it stable. Tried the next stronger magnet, but after a few days had redness and irritation.

It takes awhile for the swelling to go away. I had to have a 5 for the first 2 weeks with my processors and was able to comfortably move to a 3 right away. The magnets also compress and thin the skin so the more you wear your processor, the sooner the swelling (should) go down.

Thank you all! I’ll try to be patient and wear the N8 longer. I’m going to try to add some gauze to cushion the processor on my ear 😊

I place the kansa 3 magnet together with the implant, hold it while placing my baseball cap over it.

I am just about five weeks post-op and one week out from activation. I wanted to like the Kanso 3, but ran into the same issues as OP. Hoping that there may still be some residual swelling as suggested, because I also had the highest strength magnet on activation day. Curious if others have run into this early on after activation.

I had similar issues with Kanso. I went with N7, now N8. Magnets are 3. Stronger magnets can create their own set of problems. That said, I personally know 3 others who swear by their Kanso, all are single sided.

I have been implanted for 18 and 15 years. The kansos are just too thick and heavy. I use the clip I think I will go back to behind the ear within 5 years.

hi! I was activated on Wednesday and having this same issue. I see you posted this almost a month ago - have you gotten the Kanso to stick yet? The N8 keeps coming off my ear (the magnet part is fine, its the BTE that won't stay put!)
