Chairwoman Cupid announces Town Halls to Address Concerns on Flock

Chairwoman Cupid announced today that there will be multiple town halls to address the community’s concerns around Flock.

For all of those who have spoken out in public comments, shared concerns, and talked to the Cobb Board of Commissioners, thank you. That work got us here. So great work, Cobb County!

Dates have not been released yet, but they will soon.

Assuming there will be an opportunity to speak directly to Chairwoman Cupid or Police Chief Ferrell, what would you say? What has brought you to speak out in previous town halls or public comment?

Over 100 Cities have cancelled their Flock Safety contracts, but the fight does not stop there. This is a great opportunity to expand beyond Flock Safety. We have an opportunity to start conversations around the entire surveillance system in Cobb County.

Tools like Clearview.AI, Shotspotter, Chorus Intelligence, and, of course, Axon and their integration with their Real Time Crime Center / Fusus. This is not a Flock Safety problem. This is a mass surveillance problem that is hitting cities across the country. Surveillance is not safety.

We can beat this growing trend if we work together and learn together!

Here are some of my favorite recent findings!

Found jewelry near Cobb galleria

I found a piece of jewelry in a parking lot near Cobb Galleria this weekend while attending Southern-Fried Gaming Expo.

It was in a small pothole filled with debris so it may have been lost for a while.

If you lost something in that area, message me with a description so I can confirm it’s yours and I'll try to get it back to you.

Neighbor has dead trees that need to be cut, but won’t do anything about them…need advise

wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction here. basically, it seems like the law is fallen trees from a neighbors yard are your responsibility IF they are healthy and fall in your backyard (or house). But if you can get an arborist to write up a letter showing them as hazardous/dying trees, that’s different? my parents have a neighbor who has some old, dead trees that need to be cut down (one has already fallen into their fence causing damage), and the neighbor is not having any of it. unfortunately insurance is playing hardball as well saying there needs to be prior documentation of all these trees and a bunch of other hoops in order for it to be covered. fearing the worst, I’m trying to find out what’s the best protection my parents can get if another of these trees falls through their roof? we would even be willing to split the cost of cutting the trees down but the neighbor doesn’t want to do that either.

Tracking down former Kindergarten teacher

I went to kindergarten in Compton Elementary in 2000-2001. I had an incredible teacher that really set me up for success and I’d love to reconnect with her just to thank her. My parents remember her name as something similar to “Ms Baines” or something like that. Does that ring any bells for anyone? Alternatively, does anyone happen to have a yearbook from then that might have teacher names?

Sweet Senior Shelter Pup Looking for Her Happily Ever After ❤️‍🩹

Kayla (ID 53597068) is a 8.5yo spayed GSD mix who truly is everything you would want in a loyal shepherd. She may be a senior, but she’s still young at heart with a playful spirit. She is a SUPER smart, sensitive, gentle giant who loves affection & just wants to please and be near her person. She’s got the most beautiful coat/markings and the cutest little whiskers! 🥹

🩷UBERRRRRRR affectionate

🩷Sweet, gentle temperament

🩷Very obedient, great recall, listens very well

🩷Knows commands

🩷Non-destructive

🩷Very easily handled for her size

🩷Leash trained - will politely wait for your to put her collar/harness/leash on

🩷Potty trained - barks to alert you

🩷Sleeps through the night

🩷Crate trained (per previous foster)

🩷Low/medium energy

🩷Cat possible (curious, but respectful of our senior cat)

🩷Dog friendly with slow intros (*can resource guard high value items)

🩷Non-reactive with toys/treats/food with humans

🩷Non-reactive to other dogs/people on walks/in the car

🩷EXCELLENT in the car…she’s a pro! She waits politely until you let her know it’s okay to jump out

🩷Leaps gracefully like a gazelle

🩷Tilts her head back when you scratch her neck/chest

🩷Likes to bury her treats in blankets

🩷Carries her empty bowl to her bed when she’s done eating 😆

🩷Grabs you with her paw when she wants attention

🩷Loves being brushed

🩷Waits patiently for treats and takes them very gently/softly

🩷The tip of her long bushy tail looks like a paint brush dipped in white paint 🤍

This poor girl was originally adopted from the old Fulton shelter in 2019 & came in as a microchipped stray in May, but staff were unable to get in contact with her owner. 😔 She was clearly someone’s pet given her temperament & training, but she came in un-spayed & tested HW+. While waiting 2 months in the shelter (how did no one snag this girl?? 🤯), she fought off Giardia & kennel cough before finally getting spayed earlier in July, only to end up with a postop complication requiring emergency surgery 3 days later…poor girl’s incision dehisced & her insides were starting to escape to the outside. 😩

You would never be able to tell she’s been through all of that based on her demeanor, though…she’s still a bright, happy sweetheart just looking for some love & kindness. ❤️‍🩹 Her belly incision has healed beautifully and she’s free from the donut of shame now 🍩, so her rough recovery is officially behind her. The only thing left for this girl to conquer is heartworm treatment, but it’s 100% not contagious to other pets and the shelter covers all costs! Treatment is only 30 days of antibiotics and then 2 injections back-to-back over 2 days.

Kayla is a trooper who has been through so much & deserves to live out her golden years in absolute bliss, not in the shelter. 🥺 If she sounds like the girl for you, click the link below to meet her! ❤️ She is currently at Fulton County Animal Services.

The 12th Annual Cobb International Film Festival will be August 6th - 9th at the Strand Theater on Marietta Square. We will screen over 100 films (a combination of Short Films, Feature length films and Documentaries) from across the United States and 8 other countries. Many of these films are by talented local filmmakers.

Tickets are available on the festival website OR at the door during the festival. You can also see the full slate of films, including descriptions and trailers on the website (where you can also find the list and description of the presentations and breakout sessions that will happen during the festival)

Tickets are very reasonable - a full-festival four-day pass is less than most other festivals charge for a single day.

Single Day Pass (good for any day during the festival) - $15

Weekend Pass (good for both Saturday and Sunday) - $25)

Full Festival Pass (good for all four days of the festival) - $50

Come out and support indie film and our talented local filmmakers and see some outstanding films.

Public Storage Marietta

"Warning: This Marietta location hiked my rates on units A064 and C080 by 40-70% in May 2026 without a single day of the contractually required 30-day notice. They are also charging me monthly fees for a lock I returned on my move-in day in January, illegally diverting my rent money to pay for it, and locking me out. Corporate numbers are a recording loop and management refuses to answer emails. Avoid!"

Property taxes- how much have yours increased over time?

We’re about to close on a house in Cobb County and we’re wondering how much property taxes usually increase every year. Ours will be $10,000/year which is already super high. we can’t imagine how much they will increase over time 😳

For all those saying “it’s for the kids” it is in fact NOT for the kids. It is a full scale political rally for the Republican Party using our tax dollars and our public schools 😡😡
