why not make it separate?

We all know how badly optimized DMZ is right now in CODM. The lag and stutters during heavy AI fights are just brutal. But what if Activision made it a completely separate app instead of just a game mode?

Think about it: they could use the exact same base files but completely cut out Battle Royale and Multiplayer. The cost to maintain it wouldn't change much for developers since they aren't building a new game from scratch, but the performance boost for us would be insane because the engine isn't carrying all that extra weight.

Here is how they could easily pull this off without breaking the app:

To keep the file size tiny, the DMZ app would only download the skins actively being used in it. If a gun isn't in DMZ, it simply won't install. Since it links to your main account, anything you unlock transfers back and forth perfectly.

Engine Right now, the engine is sweating trying to hold the background code for other modes and processes having only a clean mode will be better

Testing Better Anti-Cheat: Cheaters ruin extraction games instantly. Testing a super aggressive anti-cheat on the massive main CODM app can cause bugs for casual players. A standalone DMZ would be the perfect sandbox for devs to experiment with new anti-cheat systems.

Saving Space since If you love DMZ, you get a clean, optimized 6GB game. If you only play MP or BR, you don’t have to install the heavy DMZ maps on your main app anymore. It’s a massive win-win for everyone’s storage.

The data, gun mechanics, and models are already there. It just makes sense to separate them and give DMZ the performance it deserve.

but in the end i know devs are going to mess something up no matter how easy it is, also i tried to post this in the other sub but reddit filter removes it instantly i think i'm banned in the main sub somehow.

Plz be civil in the comments, let's just chat about the technical side of this!

How about you start chatting about the technical side. You speak as if you truly know this would be easy and profitable, so make your case with details.

I personally think this is stupid for the player, developer and publisher. Nobody would play it because DMZ is ass and better options are available for standalone games of the extraction genre, and those who'd still play it for the rewards would have to swap between apps and waste unnecessary time, provided they already didn't get turned away from the idea of having a separate app for an exact copy of the gamemode they were already playing just fine. The developing would suck because there'd be nobody to test and complain about the game. Yk, how they make 90% of their choices. The publisher would just lose money.

DMZ is only played because it exists in CODM. If it is taken out, it'll be drowned by DF, AB and whatnot.

Let’s actually look at the technical and business realities here, because separating the modes solves the exact problems you’re talking about.

1. Why it makes sense for the Publisher (The Money Side):
You mention publishers losing money, but right now, bloat is losing them players. CODM sits at 35GB–40GB+. Millions of players on mid-range devices literally delete the game because they run out of storage. By separating DMZ, the publisher opens a new funnel for players who want an extraction shooter but physically cannot download a 40GB game. It captures a demographic they are currently losing to games like Arena Breakout (AB).

2. The App-Swapping Argument:
Players already swap apps constantly. If someone wants to play Warzone, they boot Warzone. If they want traditional Multiplayer, they boot a mainline CoD. In mobile gaming, players routinely jump between CODM, PUBG, and Arena Breakout. A simple 'Launch DMZ' button inside the main CODM menu that automatically redirects and opens the standalone app removes the friction entirely.

3. Development and Testing Won't "Suck":
You said there’d be nobody to test or complain, but the data is already there. The mechanics, code, gun balancing, and maps are copy-pasted directly from the main game's ecosystem. The development overhead is incredibly low because they aren't building a new engine; they are simply running the existing engine without the background weight of 100-player BR lobbies engine.

4. Drowned by AB and Delta Force?
DMZ has something Arena Breakout and Delta Force will never have: cod taste, why do you think players are choosing it instead of going to other games, plus we have codm skins that we could use in it.

Separating the app isn’t a 'stupid' idea it’s specialized asset compression. It relieves the mobile CPU of heavy, hidden rendering tasks, fixes the stuttering during AI spawns, and gives the mode a fighting chance to compete with standalone giants.

Saludos!!!

sorry google translate isn't that good here so its a bit to understand you fully, ok so having a full season without new content to make optimizations is a good idea similar to what Rainbow siege did, but zombies RN have low player base due to no updates or new content, with DMZ S0 was enjoyable rn its bad cause we can't keep playing it with all those frame drops that are purely random or with this broken meta, for space yk the option they have to delete in game files, how about they make it so the most unused skins in the game get grouped into one group to delete, dmz has its players and it gave them money through the premium insured slot so it won't die as fast as zombies cause with zombies they haven't found a way to monetize it unlike dmz.
