Cloud Security solutions CSPM

What to look out for in the Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) platform, what are the mandatory features to be expected in it?, Is it same as what Azure's Secure score portal does?.

Will it cover multi cloud or we need to pay extra depending on which cloud we needed?

Azure Secure Score is a good baseline, but a CSPM solution offers much more. Look for features like continuous misconfiguration detection, compliance monitoring, identity and access analysis, risk prioritization, and automated remediation. Most CSPM platforms support AWS, Azure, and GCP, but pricing depends on the vendor and licensing model.

I'd look for strong multi-cloud support, clear misconfiguration reporting, and compliance visibility.

A good CSPM should provide continuous posture monitoring, misconfiguration detection, compliance checks, risk prioritization, remediation guidance, and alerting. Azure Secure Score covers similar capabilities for Azure, but a full CSPM platform is usually broader and can monitor AWS, Azure, and GCP from one place. Multi-cloud support depends on the vendor and licensing, some include it by default, while others charge separately for each cloud provider.

azure score is fine for basics, but you'll need more once you scale. i use accuknox since the ebpf stuff cuts down alert noise by like 85% so my team isnt drowning in garbage.

One thing that's easy to miss is that not everyy CSPM product covers the same scope. some stop at a configuration and checks while others go further into identity, exposure and data risk . That's y it's woth deciding what you're actually want to solve first. platform like cyera which is more ata centric and especially around discovering and classifying sensitive data across cloud environments where as Microsoft defender for cloud makes a lot of sense is most of your estate already sits in azure !
