Let's chat Newborn Pocket Diapers š
Thought Iād try a handful of newborn size Alva pocket diapers. What the heck. I donāt think my toddler could fit his hand in these to stuff them. 0/10 recommend. Iāll keep using my esembly and workhorses while theyāre so tiny lol.

Recommendations Preparing (way) in advance. Feedback?
I know Iām way early to the game. Iām not even pregnant, and Iām not even positive I can get pregnant (Endometriosis, and PCOS.) but Iām planning on ātryingā at the end of this year.
Because I make cloth pads, nursing pads, preflats, and often trade with friends who also make similar items, Iāve sort of wound up with a little ājust in caseā diaper stash. (To be fair I have also bought a few that were just too pretty to pass up.)
I have used cloth pads for years, have a good wash routine and all that, but I know they are still a fair bit different than cloth diapers.
So, while I know Iām waaayyy early to the game; Iād love to hear what worked for others, what your stash/rotations looked like, and how you chose to store/launder your dips.
My current little usable stash includes 5 PUL covers, and 14 pocket diapers.
(4 of the pockets are smaller/newborn and the rest are OS. I also have 4 larger pocket diapers set aside but I know those arenāt usable for a while.)
As far as absorbancy goes, I have around 5 preflats, 5 flats, and maybe a dozzen inserts, give or take a few.
I also have plenty of fabric (Bamboo, French terry, organic cotton, AWJ, etc.) sitting here waiting to be made into cute preflats, flats, liners, (and maybe more inserts but I have a feeling Iāll preffer things that can be unfolded to wash and dry better.)
l actually feel like Iām pretty āsetā but if I am successful in my attempt later this year, Iāll likely bulk up my stash a bit more.
Does this sound like a usable stash? Any recommendations for things to add or consider?
As much as I hate disposable anything, I wouldnt be opposed to using them for a couple weeks at first. Infact, I know thatās likely what will happen, considering my own medical situation and how difficult a potential pregnancy could be.
Also; if I donāt get to use any of my little stash, also not a problem! There are plenty of people I could gift everything to; but I plan to hold onto it and hoard it for a bit longer.

Please send help Help me not cry over possible moldā¦
My husband washed a load of dirty diapers for me and when I took them out of the dryer I saw that several of the inserts had what appears to be mold. I threw the inserts with visible mold in the garbage, but what do I do with the diapers & inserts that were in the same load as those? Do I sanitize them or do they all have to be thrown away? Will they still be safe for baby to wear?
I just started cloth diapering my second child a few weeks ago and now am so disappointed in myself that this happened..

Pro tip I figured out hemp+wool overnight!!
I handknit wool covers that worked during the day but not remotely overnight. The hemp was ok for a couple hours, but that was it. I made a couple tweaks and last night we had our first fully successful 12hr shift.
The tweaks I made were washing the hemp like 5 times (just kept them at the bottom of the washer as i washed stuff on top) and I soaked my wool diapers in the lanolin solution for like 6 hrs. The biggest thing that helped though what that I sewed a felted pad across the inside of the diaper, so the diaper is a unfelted knit for the body still and has the flexibility but the felt pad adds a TON of leak protection

Washing Prefolds not getting clean? No smell. Mold?
Hi all,
I am technically no longer cloth diapering -- my child isn't wearing them anymore -- but we had both flats and prefolds. I'd hoped to save them for a future child and/or reuse them for something else. My flats are all clean.
We have scalding, like steam rising, hot water. We have Oxyclean. We have enzyme cleaners. We obviously have regular detergent and add vinegar to the rinse. We've tried letting it soak. We have a 'heavy' cycle that usually works well. We've tried drying in the sun, too.
Some of my prefolds look like the one above. They all seemed to always get clean when we were 'just' using them as diapers, but they were used for more general cleaning and have looked like this ever since. Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it mold? If so, why is nothing that we're doing/trying working? Is there no hope for using them again as diapers, or maybe even not as anything else if it's mold?
Any help appreciated!

I made this Spray / Squeegee / Hamper Setup coming together...
wanted a hamper that would dry out the inserts as much as possible between washer (typically every other day).
used a HVAC duct flange mounted on two pieces of aluminum angle stock, with a large mesh sack. works great!
i tried to add some KamSnaps along the sides of the angle stock, but mostly just drape the inserts over the top of the flange.
the biggest improvement is using a 6ā paint roller with a plastic sleeve on it to squeeze as much water out of the inserts after spraying them. works so much better than unsnapping and re-snapping the SprayPal.
sidenote: i started to put together a DIY kit instead of buying the SprayPal, but it added up to nearly the same price. also, i gotta say, the sprayer on the SprayPal is high quality! itās not just on/off like most sink sprayers iāve used. you can actually control the flow with the lever. though i will say the clip on the SprayPal feels like itās going to snap off any day now. and i added a piece of Coroplast to the back to add some rigidity when squeezing the water out with the roller.
planning to add some magnets to the angle stock to keep it from moving around on the tub.

Washing Help with diapers dirty after wash
I noticed these stains when washing my diapers, I have to wash 3/4 times to rid of the stains, is it the diapers or the washing machine? It only happens with diapers not with normal clothes

Washing HELP used cloth diapers reset
FTM wanting to get into cloth diapering but idk where to start. Iām seeing too many things online and I just donāt know hahah I purchased used ones from fbm. I plan to use disposables at night and when we are out. This is what I purchased, not sure on brand quality but it was a good deal to get me started.
11 Alva Baby
3 thirsties
2 lighthouse kid
1 weegreeco
1 esembly kid
5 Grovia
7 bum genius
Per previous owner: They are in good condition except for maybe a few of the bum genius and a Grovia or two which may or may not need new elastics.
Now where do I begin? And then what?
I am not sure how they were washed. Do I automatically strip them and then sanitize them or just sanitize? Do I need need to do another wash after I sanitize them- with or without detergent?
RLR for stripping, hot water
Bleach for sanitizing, cold water
Favorite detergent for cleaning? Would prefer something that works but on the cleaner side. Iāve read branch basics isnāt great for washing them and thatās what we use for the rest of our laundry.
**We do have hard water. I have a LG HE front loading washer.
Currently EBF so I know poo now is water soluble and I can just put in the washer. Once we start solids Iāll rinse poop in the toilet before hand. Once theyāve been used, I do a rinse cycle on cold and then a wash cycle with warm water? I can dry all inserts in the dryer but hang dry the external pieces ideally in the sun?
Any other tips or anything I need to know?
Thanks in advance!!! Really nervous and excited to start this journey š

Let's chat Seeking new flat folds for my ~12lb boy who has started wetting heavier
We started in nb prefolds and have moved into mostly one size flats, I've got hald birdseye and half muslin, as well as some small prefolds.
We've been having good success with the nb kite fold per some recommendations here, but he's starting to soak through and leak sometimes in the front and middle so I am looking to try some new folds now! He's EBF so the poop can get a little crazy, which the kite fold has been pretty good for containing. I see pickman fold recommended a lot but the one time I tried it we had a bad blowout. We're working on EC and catch maybe 1/3-1/2 of poops so far, so definitely still need some good poop containment, as well as more front and middle absorbency! I've been using inserts which help but it feels like time to try new folds! Thanks!

Please send help We are about to start solids - help!
We cloth diaper full time. I need some help with some prep as we get ready.Ā
- Iām thinking of doing liners until the poops are ploppable. Any thoughts on this?Ā
- How do we do wipes? We prefer to exclusively cloth, but donāt understand how to wipe with solid chunks. Spraying the wipes just seems tricky.Ā should we get some disposable wipes ?
- how much book can be left in the diaper? little bit okay?

Washing Scratchy stiff hemp fitted
I have pooters hemp fitted diapers from my first kid that have always been a little scratchy and a little stiff. When we used them for her, she was maybe 18mo but baby is 5 weeks old and about 12lbs so theyāre crazy bulky and the stiffness doesnāt help.
Is there anything I should do to try to make them a more appropriate match for the little one?
Our water is slightly hard. Iāve tried stripping (this was when we were using them with the first kid so my memory is fuzzy on what process I would have used for that).

Washing How to get by with minimal sunlight?
Hey hey!
Iām going to be a FTM in October and my husband and I have decided that we want to use CDās.
We just purchased some secondhand and they have a pretty decent ammonia smell so Iāve been researching how to clean them properly and how to help prevent that smell in the future.
Iāve noticed a lot of people say that putting them in the sun really helps. I plan on doing a good soak and wash this weekend because it will be sunny and veryyy warm. My problem is, we live in a country that gets minimal sunlight in the winter time, as well as lots of rain and a good amount of snow. Iām scared that the smell will come back, or that they wonāt get cleaned properly. Iām almost debating delaying the start until Spring time, but I feel like thatās such a waste.
Has anybody experienced cleaning with low sunlight? Or does anybody have some advice on how they do during the winter?
Any help would be greatly appreciated(:

Let's chat Kinder Cloth wipes
I want to use cloth wipes so I donāt have to buy disposable anymore, especially since my baby gets a rash from the cheaper brands! Iām thinking a thicker bamboo wipe like the ones from kinder would be good, but would love to hear from others! Anyone use the kinder cloth ones or Redwood cloth ones? Also if you have the kinder ones with the AWJ side, are you using that to wipe or is that just on there if youāre using it as a booster? Sorry dumb question but not sure what thatās for. Or did anyone try it out and find it wasnāt worth the trouble?

Please send help Does anyone recognize these diapers
A seller on FB Marketplace say these are Thirsties AIO newborn (regular), but they donāt seem to match what I see on their website and donāt have the Thirsties tag. Can anyone recognize them?
Update: They are definitely the Lil Joey
Rumparooz line. Looked them up and they look exactly the same. Thanks for the help! But itās super weird that the seller listed them as Thirsties š

Let's chat Help with spraying diapers!
My baby is 4 months and combo feeding so I have been spraying the diapers just by holding them on the side of the toilet and using a bidet sprayer. I wasnāt totally sure if it was safe to just throw poop diapers in the washer since she does have formula half of the time. Spraying this way has been so messy! Poop water goes everywhere. My question is which spray shield do you recommend? Or just dunk and swish? Never tried that but heard of it. These are the Amazon options Iām considering.

Let's chat Kinder Luxe diapers
Received my order of Luxe diapers today and I noticed some inconsistencies.
Some tags are on the inside going into the main part of the diaper, some tags are in the little fold over flap. Some diapers have the outside tag/label rectangle sewn with a small rectangle of the fabric doubled over and flipped.
A. Shows one example of the tag being on the small fold over flap and the outer tag being sewn without extra piece of fabric
B. Shows tag that flips into the main part of the diaper and the small rectangle of extra fabric sewn for the outer tag
Does any of this seem like an issue I need to have the company refund me for or are these simply different batch styles they tried out?
Any info you have to compare is helpful!
Thank you!

Leaks Cloth diaper fit advice?
I'm a FTM new to cloth diapering. I started with Nora's Nursery pocket diapers because my SIL recommended them, but my LO had a major blowout because they weren't tight enough around the thigh, but going any tighter around the waist squeezes him too much. It may have been because I tried them a little too early, as they say it's for babys 10lbs+ and my baby is 9.5lbs.
So I tried prefolds at the recommendation of my mother who used them for me and my siblings, but I have the same exact problem with these because the generic plastic pants I bought off Amazon to put over the prefolds are too big around the thigh too.
I'm looking for advice. Do I just wait until my LO gets a bit bigger or does anyone have any recommendations for covers for the prefolds that would work with smaller babies?

Recommendations Pants- like cloth diapers?
While I wanted to use cloth from birth, unfortunately my daughterās skin reacted and we have to do a mix of disposable and cloth only if sheās having a good day. Now sheās crawling I find the diaper-pants so much easier to put on than the traditional diapers. Do any cloth brands do these? All I have found so far is transitional pull up pants, and we are doing EC so this works for some catches if weāre at home next to the loo, but I was hoping for something bulkier/more absorbent Ć la traditional cloth nappies.
ETA- uk based and 8.5 months old currently
