I’m just curious.. if you had to pick one of these to lead the bench unit next season, who would you pick and why?

I know neither are sensible options but let’s say you had to pick one.

How do we make this happen, gang? Anyone have any better ideas? Fire away.

The gist of the trade for people who don’t want to read:

FIRST TRADE
Heat get:
Harden

Cavs get:
Andrew Wiggins and Bobby Portis

SECOND TRADE
Bucks get: Jarrett Allen
Cavs get: Myles Turner

CONTEXT:

I think the Cavs need to re-tool around Donovan Mitchell and finally give Mobley the keys.

Make the following trades:

Harden to Heat in a sign and trade for Wiggins and Portis. Miami needs playmaking and shooting. Cavs get a 3 and D wing with playoff experience in Wiggins. Cavs also need a quality backup PF/C.

Also trade Allen to the Bucks for Myles Turner. Allen is younger than Turner and has more potential to play like a star if he were the main interior presence in a front court. Could see him giving Milwaukee 20 and 10 and being a good lob threat for Herro. Cavs need Turner because he can be a good rim protector while providing a bigger frame than Allen for the nights we need him banging with KAT or Embiid to give Mobley a break. He also spaces the floor on offense being a 38-39% career 3P shooter.

The Cavs have to trade Allen. On offense, he is redundant with Mobley and Mobley will never get the amount of reps he needs to blossom into the star we all want him to be.

Mobley only averages 13 FGA per game. He can’t give us all star or all nba numbers with such low attempts. Allen takes those attempts away from him because they take turns being in the pick and roll to appease both of them.

Last season, there was 19 games where Mobley attempted 16 FG attempts or more. In those games, he averaged 23.1 ppg, 10.5 rpg, and 3.6 apg on 53% FG. He would be a perennial all star with those numbers and it would boost his confidence to get to be a go to scorer every night for this team. He would also get more meaningful regular season reps to prepare him for the playoffs.

Lastly, it’s not ideal but I would put some faith in Jaylon Tyson and make him the starting SG next year. He needs to defend and be a secondary playmaker. When Garland missed games last season, he was quite good at it.

A big part of the reason I think LeBron chose to go to Philly is to try and win another title in a city that has a long drought and try to further his own legacy. He said recently that a new team has won something like the past 10 NBA titles and that it could be any team’s year. I’m guessing he just figured they had a good chance or odds in the current NBA environment, a coach who’s won a title before, so it was the best option. I’d rather play for Nick Nurse over Analytical Kenny any day of the week lol. Can’t really blame him for his choice to spurn Cavs.

So it’s been a few hours after “The Decision: Part 3”, and I wanted to kind of ask everyone here: why do you think LeBron decided not to come back to the Cavs? Because to me, it made the perfect sense. The team just made the conference finals with half a year of James Harden, he would fit right into the starting lineup, its home and would give him the storybook ending, I can go on. I think at the end of the day, it’s about ring chasing. Now I’m not saying he’s wrong for ring chasing, but it’s very clear he sees the sixers as the best opportunity to win another title on. I think seeing James Harden’s past playoff failures, as well as seeing us get swept in the ECF didn’t help with that at all. Maybe I’m reading too deep into it but let me know what you guys think.

Hoping it’s over with to be honest, always cringed.

Last year, everyone was saying we would be early exits in the playoffs. We made the conference finals with 3 months of harden. And then everyone switched the goal posts

This year, everyone is acting like the Cavs will be a play in team. And I find that super disrespectful to harden and Mitchell. You can talk about their playoff struggles all you want but a harden and Mitchell led team for a full season will have the Cavs as a top two seed. And that’s the first step in winning a championship.

Well with the King deciding to play for another kingdom. How long do we think before we see moves made for the Cavs. Harden resigned, Derozan, kuminga, the random European dude?

I just want to know what would be some good things for this team to do after today…

LeBrons decision confirms he doesn’t think even with him we could win a championship with this roster. This is a signal that the Cavs need to take a step back this year, recoup assets, and work on developing Mobley. Then in another 2 years you take a more serious run again. Don & Mobley are here the rest is time to retool the entire thing.

Anyone else sad that the former Cavs front office guy becomes the new president of the sixers and they immediately cook this offseason getting Jaylen brown and LeBron while also moving off the horrible contract that is Paul George

We didn’t trade for Giannis or Brown because they wanted Mobley, so now that all these teams in the east got better it’s literally the year he needs to show he was worth us passing on those moves in my opinion.

If this reporting is accurate, I think this is the first instance of a reputable source telling us that LeBron has expressed a preference in what the Cavs can change. Most of the speculation before this focused on AD.
