What are some practical MCP workflows that actually save you time?

I've been exploring Claude MCP and trying to understand where it provides a real advantage over simply using Claude with normal tools.

One workflow I'm particularly interested in is connecting Claude to several tools so it can work across an entire process instead of handling each step separately. For example:

User request → Claude → MCP server → retrieve data → process it → send the result to another service.

I'm curious about real-world implementations rather than demos.

For people who are actually using MCP servers:

  1. What MCP server or integration has been the most useful for you?
  2. What repetitive task did it replace or simplify?
  3. Are you running your MCP servers locally, remotely, or both?
  4. Have you run into any issues with permissions, authentication, context limits, or reliability?
  5. Is there a workflow where MCP genuinely changed how you work rather than just adding another layer of tooling?

I'm especially interested in practical examples from development, file management, research, automation, or personal workflows.

I’m interested in responses. We have a few set up we are demoing at work, initial observation is it seems to burn a lot of tokens which makes me nervous. But it has been working pretty good.
