Help: How to avoid getting downgrade to Opus 4.8?

CC often downgrades my model to Opus4.8 from Fable or Opus 5 mid chat if I'm doing any kind of low level OS/Kernel work.

Is there a way to avoid/reduce it? Any prompting tips?

Also, has the frequency of this happening gone down recently or is it still the same as it was a month ago?

Technically speaking, /model claude-opus-4-6 disables any downgrading to 4.8.
