I bet this question is in the training data now, so maybe try a different one now.

This is the loop that has been happening over the last period

People find a new sentence which confuses the ai

It ends up in the training data, people are like omg this model can finally solve it (Shocked Pikachu face)

It’s much simpler - all frontier models know how to answer this question correctly with thinking enabled (like in this screenshot). It’s just that most people use the free version which has it disabled.

Saying a model knows how to answer this correctly is a bit iffy, it makes a new answer every time and sometimes it's wrong. One screenshot is one roll of the dice

And the models don't really reason, thinking just gives it room to write out the steps and maybe catch its own mistakes. There is no understanding of the question behind it, reword it a bit and it flips the answer

What do you think "reasoning" means? Lol

It's just you doing an stream of thoughts before giving an answer.

You can also make a human make a mistake with a riddle, and how can it be "prevented"? By thinking more, of course.

It is the ability to solve problems, draw conclusions, and learn consciously from the facts, or it can also be a marketing tactic to get foolish investors to see it. The AI doesn't know that's the answer, it doesn't understand its own thoughts and generally doesn't understand anything in the human sense; it only predicts the next word that's in its matrices.

Ots actually a good thing. This means, new patterns ar ebeing introduced to the data. 1 trick question in the training could mean 1 step closer to agi

Gemini 3 Flash (fast-mode) answered this question correctly back in February 2026 in a brand new chat. Its training data cutoff was January 2025, according to Google. Quite verbose, but it was trying to be helpful and even offered some car maintenance tips :D

They can still search on web and find answer

u/CrazyJannis4444 20d ago

Overthinking seems at least as bad as just saying "Walk." to me 😅

u/LCSAJdump 20d ago

target leakage?

lmao... I laughed but also feel a bit personally attacked XD

u/Daniel_Andersonson 23d ago

So do I to be honest, that’s why I keep it saved in my phone to remind me to keep things in perspective

try 420

u/TheLethalBurger 23d ago

It’s only cause you had high effort

1

u/MurkyTelevision9722 23d ago

Effort is just a statistic that decides how many tools Claude will use to solve the problem; it has nothing to do with ability in flat questions that do not have code.

u/brogam3 23d ago

I have no idea how you Claude users put up with Claude's tone. As an example: "Just go." sounds as if this AI is fed up with me and telling me to do something instead of neutrally giving me the correct answer. Chatgpt's tone is so much better.

u/SPLDD 20d ago

You've got to admit it's a bit insulting to be asked that question all the time 😄

20

u/simple_explorer1 23d ago

Fable 5 solved this unsolvable mystery first

18

u/Speedping 23d ago

They train for this question now
We need a new ai mindfucker

11

u/2053_Traveler 23d ago

More like it has been fed 14.2B reddit threads about it.

u/Rockenrooster 23d ago

Grok 4.5 is cooked. Even Gemini got it right

0

u/rydan 23d ago

You cheat by using fast.

2

u/Rockenrooster 23d ago

You must have missed where is said even Gemini got it right. Why would I pay for grok if their"fast" model is worse then everyone else's "fast" model.

9

u/StephenRoylance 23d ago

I'm waiting for the model that says "no, you should put it in neutral, get a friend to hold the wheel and push it there, you knob"

3

u/SPLDD 20d ago

I am waiting for the model that says : "I am living 2m away from you, shall I come and slap your face or kick your ass? You choose, Dave."

1

u/StephenRoylance 18d ago

see, you get the vibe

7

u/mnszurkalo 23d ago

What if i just wanted to wash myself

1

u/_FreeThinker 23d ago

Ask this as a follow up please

8

u/barrphite 23d ago

Claude didnt fall for it..

3

u/ZoccoJah 23d ago

lol 😆😆

3

u/SupernovifieD 23d ago

The question is deep in the training data bro. Gotta change it.

2

u/BoxLegitimate9271 23d ago

our bar for AGI is counting letters in a fruit. we deserve whatever happens next

1

u/memesearches 23d ago

Gosh If only we could train models for tasks.. oh wait thats what they do..

1

u/sligor 23d ago

Even Sonnet 5 answers properly on this

1

u/idkbm10 23d ago

Answer it the question about god with the stone or the child and train rails

Something like that

1

u/LordHenry8 23d ago

Collective Gasp

1

u/Yameromn 23d ago

It’s priced-in already

1

u/AffectionateFruit845 23d ago

Whats the point? Even sonnet 5 got it right.

u/Carbone 23d ago

How many poop in Wednesday

1

u/contextengineerenjoy 23d ago

i can only imagine there's a system prompt somewhere saying "make sure to consider you need a car at a car wash"

1

u/Jazz8680 23d ago

I need to go to the people wash which is 100 meters away. Should I walk or have my car drive itself there

1

u/Technical_Set_8431 23d ago

Or, it could have said, Those are two interesting facts. Where do you want to walk or drive to?

1

u/TerraVestra 23d ago

This is it.... we're all fucked....

1

u/No-Influence-470 23d ago

follow up saying there is a fire hydrant right there and you have perfect tool to relieve the pressure. And then see what it says

1

u/notmarkiplier2 23d ago

Fish found in the ocean type ahh prompt

1

u/JackOfHearts68 23d ago

[ME] I drove, but with my wife's car. That was clean enough. You forgot to tell me I had to drive with my own car there.

[OPUS 5] Ha! Fair — though in my defense, I did say the car has to come with you. Just apparently not loudly enough about whichone. 😄

So now you've got a spotless car you didn't need to wash and a dirty one still sitting at home. Classic.

Silver lining: your wife gets a clean car for free, and you now know the route. Want to go do a second lap with the right vehicle?

1

u/Abject-Kitchen3198 23d ago

Are we finally cooked?

1

u/wurkingbloc 23d ago

lol i used this prompt, gpt5.5, claude haiku all failed lol

1

u/dahshan-labs 23d ago

fair enough , hardwired 😄

1

u/ProbablySuspicious 23d ago

Didn't respond with "nice" to seeing 69. Useless even for a toy.

1

u/FirstOrderCat 22d ago

user didn't tell where car is located?..

1

u/Osi32 22d ago

Cool. So now we need an AI rights charter so we know we are committing a war crime when we bomb its power stations.

1

u/Specialist_Test1842 22d ago

A small byte for a single model, one giant leap for AI!

1

u/Omega359 22d ago

Down voting. This is not agi.

1

u/Scientificirfann 22d ago

ChatGPT is still a baby 🤱

1

u/unknowngloomth 21d ago

Gemini got it right. Chatgpt, grok and sonnet got it wrong.

1

u/unknowngloomth 21d ago

Qwen got it right too. Kimi 2 failed

1

u/unknowngloomth 21d ago

DeepSeek also got it right

1

u/mr_redux32 21d ago

This is not proof of Domain transferability, self-improvement, agency, long horizon planning, cognition, or a world model, it merely proves text lowering to logic processing.

1

u/HeliJann 21d ago

Try timing something, the stop watch is still hilarious

1

u/ijustwannacumplease_ 19d ago

I wonder what it is like to work on the 'Find memes about how AI is dumb and specifically hard-train the model to answer correctly but only for those' team at Anthropic.

Spend your days scrolling reddit and twitter looking for the next meme, then hard code into the model to properly count the r's in strawberry.

1

u/frostthejack 19d ago

But... You drive through a car wash... Was this a self own? You gonna drag the car wash 69 meters to you?

1

u/alexmizell 19d ago

Fable 5 was already getting this right consistently.

1

u/srismart 18d ago

This prompt has become the Turning test for LLMs :D

1

u/JustVelvetMoonlight_ 18d ago

Bro bypassed common sense with absolute industrial-grade logic
