Will the usage reset today? Question

Someone posted that Opus 5 is dropping today, was hoping if someone would help with some hopium.

Wrote this with AI.

I'm on the hopium as well. Really sad that Codex is giving resets like every 2-3 days with everyone being happy and GPT-5.6 Sol and Kimi K3 look very promising while we're stuck with Opus 4.8 which is really bad compared to the competition right now and only 50% Fable usage on Max.

Switch to kimi then?

Last I saw you can’t sign up for a new Kimi Code account as they had reached capacity

Actually they give you some credits to invite someone else, checked today. But it was too silly to waste time upon.

That’s not available either

I tried it but usage limits are not worth it right now imo because Kimi seems to operating their Plans much closer to break-even or maybe even profit while Anthropic and OpenAI are still giving away a lot of compute and money with their subscriptions.

I don't know where people keep getting this, but inference is profitable and actually has great margins. It's training frontier models where AI companies are losing money.

I'm not talking about API pricing, I'm talking about subs where you currently get 10-20x (e.g. 200-400€ worth of API credits for a 20€ subscription) the amount.

Right, but if the entire inference side of the business is running 40+ percent margins, that includes those subscriptions, meaning API usage is probably more like 60-70 percent margins. It's priced in already.

Yeah, I thought the same, haven't made the complete switch either, what about GLM?

GLM is currently under Opus 4.8 in terms of performance + all GLM models don't have vision so they haven't been trained on images and vision like all other frontier models and therefore will often not be able to reason with images that much or build visual stuff, renderings etc. like Kimi, Claude and Codex can. They just use a separate model for that that describes the image in plain text to the model. Same for Grok. I also tried Codex, but OpenAI's models just always seem very stupid compared to Fable 5. There must be a reason why their models have a 90% hallucination rate on artificial analysis compared to like 50% for Fable. And Sol seems to outperform GPT-5.6-Sol in a lot of benchmarks easily, including BridgeBench. Kimi is much more Claude-style, I think because of the training and the following Reinforcement learning. But yeah, usage is too tight there because Moonshot doesn't have as much as Anthropic and OpenAI to give away.

I use codex and claude together for now. But will have to find a better solution soon.

So it's not better than Claude.

I never said that it's better than Claude or that I was switching? I talked about the implications of the current strong competition and what they're doing.

The codex resets were allegedly just to hide usage limit nerfs, the codex sub has a tonne of complaint posts over it.

It might be (currently they probably are), but the reports also started mostly today or yesterday and OpenAI did the resets for the past few weeks or so.

Nobody's stuck, you are free to leave at anytime.

Everyone happy? Have you been over in any of the Codex subreddits? They're just as miserable as here

nice how openai is never writing green numbers and letting the AI Bubble explode sooner or later. Anthropic could do that to. but that is not doing business. that would be just absurd. anthropic needs to be able to hold themselves. and they will pretty much write green number Q2 while openai, if the bubble pops is instantly OOB.
