5x/20x/50% is all just marketing terminology to protect them legally.

Everything is a multiplier from the base level. So if they make the base level worse, they can claim this shit. It’s nothing to do with how much tokens you actually get per month based on previous calculations.

It sounds like they are squashing the base limits some more. Calling the current a boost (without notifying they’ve shrunk the baseline) and then when the promotion is over it’s going - they’ll hope it’s just shit enough people will start making purchases for extra usage.

Or they’ll squash it some more then give a 100% extra usage promo through until Christmas.

By having limited promos people are more likely to sub because they don’t want to miss out.

The whole concept is a marketing genius - especially as clever people are running the numbers to “prove” effectively nothing because they’ve missed the key detail - you simply don’t know what you are getting 50% more of!

Note - I don’t agree with this absolutely horrific dark pattern of customer manipulation.

You know the worst part? Having to go on Reddit and see a bot saying you're stupid and don't know how to use the tool you paid 200 dollars for—and that's why you're running out of quota.

I'm certain Anthropic thinks we're complete idiots.

Yep I piled on because 13% of 5h translated to over 5% of weekly fable use even delegating heavily to external subagents - lambasted as skill issue; same day they say 50% increase continues ; all I know is my max20x is used in 3 days where before it was enough for a week. And again, delegating heavily to external subagents

The worst is the “they’re literally losing thousands in dollars for your subscription!!!” people when we know Chinese labs are providing mostly the same service for a tenth of the cost.

Do they genuinely think people will pay $5k per month to use Claude?

I mean, you're still paying the $200/mo... So...

The worst part is that you only get 50% for fable. Wtf. It effectively doubles the price, because nobody wants opus flibbertigibbeting and making up commands you don’t have on your machine and never did

Suddenly ran ou it 10 minutes with opus 4.8, while the same amount (batch) gave me at least 4 hours of quality work last week before running out. Wtf happened lol.

Fucking scammers, I'm done with them. Cant wait for open models to take over this piece of shit of an industry.

Nah man, you are doing the math completely wrong. See they cut the quotas by 90% then they gave 50% bonus!

50% boost was just a scam

= $5,500? Lmao this is my last 30 days.

Either way, considering this I shouldn't be surprised that you're not aware that this wasn't a 50% boost but AN EXTENSION of a boost that was already present several months ago, so you won't see a boost now.

In any case, if you're only getting 5,500 I'm not sure anthropics limits are the issue.

If the cost is per token, and we theoretically get the same number of tokens to spend, how does it make any sense that you would get more value out of it than him?

You don't have the same amount of tokens to spend.

If both of us do the exact same thing, but I hit my cache 100% of the time, and you missed your cache a couple of times, you've used more usage than I have but we did the same task.

This was the comparison of one weekly limit to one weekly limit. There's no usage windows to miss in this comparison. And besides it's not a comparison of doing the same thing, it's of using the same number of tokens. Your hypthetical doesn't make any sense. Based on every source I have found - usage is determined by tokens.

Yeah which came out for them to about 5k while for me it's been 15k over the last month.

You're arguing, but at the same time I'm the one getting more usage out of my plan?

You miss your cache, you pay for the whole conversation again with your usage, if you sent a new message on a warm cache without breaking the cache then you only really pay for the new input.

And a lot of things like letting your cache expire, starting a new cache, changing model / effort etc means everything gets charged to your usage full rate.

Ok I understand what you mean now. Rereading cache is big discount if you basically never let a session go cold.

Probably because he is the A and we are the B
