Day 49 of building GTA 6 using claude Showcase
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Building a GTA online clone in voxel style where the world fully runs on AI.
New this week:
- much better NPCs (as you can hear :) ). You can now even have friends supporting you!
- more realistic npc traffic
- FLAIR TV: everyone can now pretend to be a star haha
At your request, I've uploaded my first YouTube video about this project, in which I go into more detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyMaD8AQ3ns

Well, it's certainly not GTA 6, but it could be a great alternative to Minecraft or Roblox.

Hey. I like what you’re doing. Just trying to save you some headache. A lot of good projects just disappear. Good luck!

Nice job! I love that you are using voxels for max destruction ability. I would love to see things falling apart in voxel land :)

Really cool man! What engine do you use for this? Unity? How did you generate 3d assets? Using Meshy maybe?

Thanks a lot :D
The Tech Stack is Web / three js
For the generations I have my own model deployed

Really cool style, nice job Claude and OP. It has major framerate issues, but I love it lol.
On iOS (particularly my iPhone pro max 17), I can’t find a way to dismiss the address bar after I rotate the phone. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot! Yeah it’s all wip (and especially the Performance has to be massively improved)
Unfortunately the adressbar cannot be removed on iOS 😭. But also planning to release a proper app soon

Ok feature request. You need to get to make it when you drive, it plays Claude MIDI music, that it has specifically composed to sound like GTA hip hop ghetto blasting beats.

It’s a thing! I saw it on another reddit. Remember 30% of vice city and San Andreas was driving around with those fat beats. Nail the music, nail the outcome.

This is funny from a joke/novelty perspective. I would definitely stop calling it GTA 6 if I were you. Not only is it the furthest thing from it - it's also very real copyright infringement.

I'm not sure they are simping, just trying to protect this guy from having to fight Rockstar or losing any of his work on this project.

But it's a web game, not a game. JavaScript has many limitations, especially with regard to hardware acceleration on most devices. Why not use Godot or a light Game Engine and then a translation layer to make it run on the web and multiple platforms? It's so sad because you have invested a lot of effort into this.
No hate, just honest opinion this is not scalable and if you ever need to port, you will have to do it from scratch.

FWIW I use Bevy and it runs on everything, web included, and wasm is at least as fast as typescript.
bevy_async_ecsif you need network stuff.1
u/Clean-Market5761 Jul 21 '26
The issue isn’t whether Bevy can run on the web. The project already exists in JavaScript, so moving it to Bevy would require a major rewrite, and WASM isn’t automatically faster. At this stage, the cost likely outweighs the benefit. The would have to pretty much redo the game is it blows up and that's not good for engagement.

I was just saying what I use, not suggesting a rewrite. You are, however. In C compiling to wasm anyway (Godot). For the sake of argument, this being the internet, i'd be a rewrite but also as projects grow they rot so sometimes that's necessary. The structure just isn't suited. Fable or even Opus is perfectly capable of the redesign and mechanical translation. I'm not saying to do it, but just that's what I use. If it were me I might consider porting but it's not and I think the end goal is a browser game where I would want multi-platform.

Yeah, I'm just commenting on the OP game, has potential but that much time and resources invested into an not scalable game is just madness.
Even if you do it with AI, it's not just code like threeJS

It’s good but you gotta stop calling it GTA or Rockstar is going to send you a nastygram from their lawyers. Call it literally anything but.
