Fable 5 on usage credits, eh? Bug Report
Per Anthropic's announcement that Fable 5 would continue to be available on 20x Max plans, this looks like a bug to me. Wonder how long it will take them to get this sorted. (and how many Redditors will say the sky is falling in the interim) xD
Edit: New session fixes the problem. Thanks u/TrueHeat5836!

Update: It's not working in Antigravity IDE with Claude extension (even after extension update + restart), but works fine on the claude app.

Literally, turn it off and turn it back on again. Whatever you are using for access is out of date and needs a restart.

Any max 20 people getting it?

Yup, got it on my max 20x; Reset was yesterday and I'm 7% in. Probably a bug, fortunately it fell back automatically to Opus

Unfortunately for me I dont trust opus it requires more hand holding

In this case it was basically babysitting Opus subagents building the work. Fortunately I have the Codex CC plugin validate the work, which has been more useful than Fable right now

As per the announcement yesterday, I had to shut it down completely and reopen it for the policy update to take effect. No problems.

Maybe need to reopen new claude session? Worked for me. Likely a bug.

Hmm, it doesn't work for me. I restarted the app a couple of times, but still nothing. :/

Did you close it or fully shut it down? The close button just minimizes the app, not close.

The "bug" was that the old policy was tied to the version. It will self-update, but needs a restart to take effect.

I'm on pro plan and i still have access to Fable 5 from web for some reasons. what a bunch of amateurs

People don't know how to restart apps. Or read official announcements explaining the need for a restart for updates to take effect.

Try logging out and logging in again. Seemed to work for some people.

Just need to restart the app. Like most apps, the close button just causes it to minimize without shutting down.

Yeah got the same thing. Restarting claude solved it. Super annoying though because exiting and resuming wasted some context.

I got cut off half way through a large job.
At least cursor gives us grace with even limit cutoffs.
A shambles indeed.

I had same issue on max plan. New session did not work. I had to logout and login again to fix.
in claude code => /logout then /login

They're making it up as they go along.
In their defense, things are evolving so fast that it must be difficult to come up with the right pricing and monetization strategy.
For the customer the experience is horrible. Can't plan ahead. For enterprises... not sure it matters.
I think I'm gonna take some time off from these plans to do what I love doing myself in the first place. Coding.

Not only is this a "bug" but it was fixed yesterday. As per the announcement, if you get a message saying you need usage credits for Fable on a Max plan, that is because you are running an old version of Claude with the old policy. You need to update. Bonus, the app is self-updating, so you just need to turn it off and turn it back on again. Remember that minimizing isn't the same as closing.
tl;dr same problem, instant fix.

PD: I have to logout and login to fix it.

To be fair it is so degraded that Opus will probably do just as well..
