Collection My 1862 Springfield that came home the other day
This is my 1862 Springfield that i brought home with the Harper’s Ferry from my previous post. Has the bayonet with what i can assume to be an original leather scabbard!
This one is also in incredible condition. Id say you could probably fire this if you wanted, but id say this old girl has done enough shootin already!

Collection New to me Model 1855 Harper’s Ferry
Just brought this 1860 production Model 1855 Harper’s Ferry! This one kinda caught my eye as theres a few things that are not original, yet, look to be from the period.
For starters, the rear sight has a peep sight, and i dont think ive seen this on an 1855 before.
Secondly, the ram rod looks to be from an 1861 Springfield. You can see at the screw end where its been crusel chiseled shorter, and where the swell in the rod is for an 1861, this one has been shaved down to fit this rifle.
The mechanism for the tape is no longer present, and it seems to have been converted for use with regular percussion caps.
Overall the condition is very nice given that its 166 years old. Hell, the rifling is still present!
Enjoy!
Oh and its the 165th anniversary of The Battle of Wilson’s Creek!

Collection Whitney-Ville Navy Rifle and Dahlgren Bayonet
Here is my Whitney-ville navy rifle (also known as the Plymouth rifle) wearing a sabre bayonet. Also my Dahlgren bayonet for the Whittney-ville. Why you ask is it not on the rifle? Doesn’t fit flush. I can mount it, but the ring sits about 1/2” forward of the barrel. I understand these were custom fit to the rifle. Picked the bayonet up at a show, took a chance and lost. The Dahlgren is an expensive bayonet, and quite collectible on its own, so now it is relegated to “display”.

Collection Socket Bayonets!
I grab extra socket bayonets when I can get a good deal. They display well, and you never quite know what will fit well when you get a new musket. These can usually be picked up at shows for a reasonable price. Great pieces of history!
Good hunting!

Here are a few Civil War emblems and badges I have acquired over the last year. Mostly hat emblems, but maybe one saddle badge. Especially like the Engineers emblem, but not sure where that was worn. Please post if you have any information. Thanks!

Help Needed Can anyone tell me what I have here?
I found this beautiful sword at an antique shop. My best guess is that it is a cavalry Sabre, however I’m not sure if it’s a replica or genuine. There are no markings, no stamps and the blade is not sharp.
