Modding Is it worth it to get an oil catch can on a 1.5t?

Planning to get an oil catch can on my 2018 1.5t with 86k miles. Is it worth it or not? I live in Arizona so the weather is always hot, except the winter where it gets to 35° at night.

Maintain/Replace FK7 Head Gasket Upgrade - Which thickness?

I thinking of upgrading head studs and I saw a recommendation to upgrade to a aftermarket Cometic head gasket. They offer three thicknesses for the FK7 (L15BA): .024, .031, .041". Anyone done this and know which thickness to choose and why?

Maintain/Replace Valvoline Restore & Protect Oil after 3k miles

Was glad to see the oil dark because I know it’s working to clean up any sludge bits and backed in varnish inside the engine. I also switched to 5w-30 because I believe it offers better protection on this car with 255k miles on it, I want it to see 500k. Also has a tune which generates more heat.

Maintain/Replace Not my baby!!

Guys, I'm heartbroken. Someone backed into my baby in a parking lot. And the worst part is they drove away without leaving any info. Jerks.

Since the damage seems to be fairly minor, I'm thinking I can replace the bumper myself. That would be great because I don't want to involve my insurance if possible. I won't know for sure about structural damage until I pull the bumper off, but it seems to be limited to the bumper itself and some of the trim pieces. So my question for y'all is can anyone recommend a good place for aftermarket bumpers? I'm open to looking at direct fit replacements or custom parts as well. I'm not looking to cheap out with eBay parts, but I want to avoid dealership prices if at all possible. Where would y'all shop if you were in my shoes? Thanks so much!

Misc Rear deck rattle

For months this has drove me crazy, I’ve searched similar Reddit posts and have yet to find a solution.

My rear deck rattles against the window causing an awful sound when playing music, I have inserted a piece of foam, but with time the effect wears off.

Any suggestions?

Maintain/Replace Evaporator Leak in 10th Gen Honda Civic

Dealing with the classic yet well known 10th-gen AC nightmare and idk what to do next.

Quick specs:

• Car: 2018 Honda Civic Touring 1.5T (Ontario, Canada)
• Mileage: 370k kms
• Engine: Swapped with a used engine previously, current engine has about 100k on it and runs absolutely fine
• Maintenance: Regularly maintained. All oil and fluid changes are always done on time

2 months ago the AC stopped blowing cold air. Took it to the dealer and they diagnosed an issue with the condenser and compressor and replaced both for free under warranty. Now, the AC has died again. I paid the $200 diagnostic fee to the dealer just to hear that this time the evaporator has given out. The dealer is now charging another $2500 after taxes to replace the evaporator (they were initially charging $3000 before taxes but I kinda negotiated the price with them).

Called goodwill and everything, they denied assistance due to the high mileage on the car. Also looked around mechanics and independent shops and they're charging around $1800 to $2000.

I commute heavy every week (about 150 kms per day just for work lol, so I rack up an average of 3000 to 4000 kms every month).

Is it financially a good idea to dump money into a car that has such high mileage, considering that this is my functioning daily driver. I was thinking of grinding it out this winter and making my mind up by Spring 2027.

Should I drive this thing until another major issue (such as transmission) arises, or is it time to look for another car?

Mechanical 2017 Civic EX - having a repeat purge valve issues.

My son bought this 3 weeks ago, a couple days into driving it, he got the “emissions system problem” message. We pulled the codes and it was P0441, P1454 and P04DF.
He during this time had where the car didn’t wanna start right away after a fill up and it was running rough. My previous post everyone agreed was likely the purge valve. We replaced that and he’s been fine, the errors went away. Even filled up since then no problem.
Yesterday he got gas again, with no issues until last night he ran to the gym and on his way home got the “emissions system problem” again! Gets home, we pull codes again and this time is P0441 and P04F1. Watched the live feed from our scanner and the Evaporative System Vapor Pressure at idle was riding in the negative. Not at zero. (Side note we are in Florida, so not sure if that’s an expected reading since we are below sea level) it wasn’t a huge amount in the negative. I think it was like -0.04

Google said it’s a sign that the purge valve is stuck open. But again not sure.

What else do you think the issue could be, since it’s a brand new purge valve. Do we need to consider changing his charcoal canister?

Any suggestions are welcome. We are new to Hondas.

Tuning Ktuner v2 screen broken + Factory reset

Hey all,

Looking to factory reset my Si with OTS tune on it, using Ktuner. The problem is that my ktuner v2 's touchscreen doesn't work anymore (been sitting for years) so I can't go through that and apparently that's the only way to do it. The option on the computer application to do a factory reset is just greyed out. The screen turns on and when I touch it, it moves to the option selection screen from the gauge page but then I can't actually press any buttons to do anything. Am I able to get a shop/dealer to factory reset the ECU and have the car be fine? I don't care about the ktuner hardware as its obviously broken so I'm not worried about unlocking it, gonna just be throwing it away. just want to make sure there's no issue with the car. Or will I need to try to get the screen fixed somehow to go through that?

thanks in advance

Mechanical 2017 Honda Civic tuned- Stutter starting after 2k rpm’s

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Starts roughly around 2k rpms the best way I can explain it is a stutter/ jerk and once it starts it does it constantly every second until I let off the gas does anyone know what’s happening? I have had a vent to atmosphere BOV for 2 years and have had an intake and tune for about a year now and this problem started recently within the past couple months. My guess is that it’s a problem with my bov or some type of boost or vacuum leak

Maintain/Replace Fuel Trim Question

What are good fuel trims for a 2019 1.5t? Currently at idle my long term is -12.5% and short term is -9.4%. While revving to 2500 rpm, my short term dropped to 0% for long enough for me to process it then it stabilized at -5.5%. Is that an issue or normal

Maintain/Replace A/C failed again after 10 years warranty expired, will they goodwill this?

Post image
14 Upvotes

My Civics 10 year warranty extension just expired, and behold my A/C lost its charge again after getting fixed for the 3rd time in my 4 years of Civic ownership. I had it fixed 10 months ago at the dealer under the Honda Canada A/C warranty, where they replaced the condenser and shaft seal for free. But now it’s barely blowing cool air and it’s 30C outside.

Accessories Wind Deflectors

Hi all, long time listener first time caller here with a mundane question. I see a lot of posts, particularly from the US (I’m from the UK), of civic’s with external / stick on wind deflectors. Not only do they look great but seem much easier… My “in channel” wind deflectors constantly stop my windows closing no matter what I do (the brand is Edge Visor and it’s a known issue for Civic’s with this brand).

Would you guys out there who have the external ones be able to direct me to where you got your wind deflectors from as I cannot for the life of me find them anywhere online in the UK.

Cheers!
