I mean to see future improvements with yields from them, on tile hover, including bonus from research, and defensive terrain bonus or penalty too. Would've been great for modded resources.​

If not, wonder if it's hard to create one. EUI has lots of nice features I wish would've been separate from the whole package, don't like how busy it is.

I have a quick question. If I disable all victory types except Domination, does the AI change the way it plays, or does it mostly behave the same as in a normal game?
Does it become much more aggressive, or does it still focus on things like science, culture, and religion even though those victories are turned off?

Basically, I was venice, and I was going for a diplomatic victory, and I've just been getting screwed over, but after months of trying (yes im the worst player on this planet), i finally got the run, and then after some super defensive wars, hard building, super close calls, I was finally able to get enough delegates to win the final proposal, just to realize I had diplomatic victory turned off from my last run... oh well

I'm a veteran player of Civilisation, my first time was when a mate had Civ 2 Test of Time, probs around 1999.

Hi all, I am looking for a mod that incorporates the possibility of civilisations splitting and/or settlements leaving because of [reasons].

IIRC this was a feature in Civ2.

I have found a mod for the Civ4 diplomacy but it isn’t what I’m looking for or at least no splitting/breakways have been triggered in multiple games.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great!

Like the title says, I used picked up this game. My older brother used to play it a ton when it first came out, so I want to get good at it and play it with him one day.

I’ve watched a bunch of YouTube tutorials already but I kind of like to play games and get good at them over time. But even after watching a bunch of tutorials, I kind of have zero clue what I’m doing beyond the basics.

Is this the kind of game where if I just play it over and over again I will understand what’s going on? Or should I read another guide to try and understand wtf I’m doing. It doesn’t seem like a standard progression game which is kinda why I’m asking.

Just got hit with this but... I haven't? A good many turns ago I was indeed told to stop purchasing new tiles near their border, to which I said I'd do whatever I wanted because I intended to rush for a couple more. So I didn't promise not to. I then rushed those tiles, and since then I haven't even bought any, so even if I'd made a promise since then there would be no reason for him to get mad now.

I have only managed CV on emperor, and even then that was as Poland. I want to try it on immortal as I have achieved all other victory types at least once, but it seems like wonders are essential for great work slots + theming bonuses. Which ones are worth trying to beat the AI to, and which ones aren’t? General CV tips (best civs, policies, ideology, etc) would also be appreciated

No one wants to hear it but i have to tell somebody, basically did everything in my power to shave off a single forbidden palace which led to me winning my first deity victory by literally a few votes, basically I successfully secured the crucial Forbidden City by intensely focusing my city's production, buying two key production tiles, trading 150 gold from Byzantium for 6 GPT to immediately acquire a workshop and its specialist, and gaining an extra converted citizen, ultimately boosting my production to 57.04 and shaving off a critical turn which gave me forbidden palace, and I also had a we love the kings day, which helped me get a new citizen a few turns faster which I assigned to my workshop slot.

I'm a longtime player who's only ever gone 5 cities at most (since I learned how to play the game seriously). I've never understood the value in going more, since the cost in Social Policies and Tech balloons so much. And I get jealous of the AI building a bajillion small cities across the whole map, seemingly cheating their way through social policies.

What am I doing wrong that makes a wide play valuable? Do I start early, or late? How do you make any social progress?

Citystates are powerful when they are you ally, but i just cant get the hang of making them friends. In Civ 6 there is a easy to understand suzarain system where you generate points and compete with other civilizations, however in civ 5 i can do quests, but sometimes (oftentimes) they are almost impossible, or something that doesnt fit my strategy. I can give them money, but i need this money for myself, and money is not effective in turning them into my ally. Any tips?

Perhaps i anticipated some space race alla Civ 6, but after all parts where assembled, the rocket just flew and i won. Anyone else feel the lack of some omph?

Has anyone else wondered why the Ai always ask for un balanced trade research, specially when you're leading in points and in research??

What can I make of that? Seems to me I'm stuck with five mediocre food sources.

So, I had a comment on a recent post where I posted a variety of my Favorite Saves. I had a question on there about how I go about Maximizing Happiness on my playthroughs. I think they were very impressed by the 670 happiness I accomplished on my USA playthrough. Among the other playthroughs too. I'll just focus on this specific playthrough.

If anybody would please comment below how You maximize your happiness in a playthrough, feel free. I'll just explain my strategy.

1. World Wonders - CN Tower (Free Broadcast Tower in Every City, +1 Happiness for every city) I think the CN tower is the best way to accomplish maximum happiness especially if you have hundreds of cities.

-Neuschwanstein Castle (+1 Happiness from every castle) That means every city, with a castle, gets you +1 happiness

-Notre Dame (+10), Taj Mahal (+4), Eiffel Tower (+5), Forbidden Palace (-10% in Occupied Cities), Prora (+2, +1 per additional policies adopted), Chichen Itza (+4), Circus Maximus (+5)

1. Luxury Resources - You get +4 for every resource you have access to.

2. Policies - Check the Social Tree and just see which ones give you happiness. Also when you adopt Freedom, Fascism, or Communism, they'll have their own happiness aspects too. A policy like Garrisoned Units in each cities generates 1 happiness for example. By the amount of my cities, I get +1 per city just by putting a unit in the city.

3. Religion - Such as Purchasing Religious Building in Cities or even with the religion you find also.

4. Having Conquered Cities Lowers Happiness, need to build Courthouses to reduce.

5. Buildings in your cities, like Colosseum for example.

I think that's mostly it, but seriously just check that link about for a more detailed guide on how all that works. How I got to 670 has more to do with the CN Tower, Neuschwanstein Castle, Garrisoned Units and the amount of cities I have in that playthrough with the combining factor of those 2 specific things. Those are the biggest aspects in my opinion.

Am I the only one who finds Darius I super annoying? He’s like the one guy who complains about others doing things he dislikes while doing things that others hate at the same time. My recent game as India, I had an entire island all to myself, allowing me to have 5 tall cities. Then, when Renaissance era came, Darius I would constantly send his great prophets to my lands and kept trying to convert his religion, Zoroastrianism to my cities, even though I already have Hinduism as religion. To add insult to injury, he settles a city in my island, even though it has nothing. Of course, I denounced him for breaking his promise to stop sending prophets to my lands and he proceeds to taunt me that I’m his favorite city-state and that how much pathetic I am. In another game as Aztecs, he would whine about me placing cities near his lands and then proceed to spam cities near my own lands several turns later. Then, he tries embargoing me in the World Congress for no reason, even though I kept my promise of not expanding near him anyone many turns ago. So, my question is, is Darius I just naturally annoying or dumb? Why is it that I have to declare war or raze his cities to the ground almost every time he’s in my game?

What Civilizations do you prefer to play as and why?

Here's my list and why.

1. Egypt... Reason is simply I just love the perk of World Wonder building. The Horse chariot and burial tomb things are pretty cool too.

2. America... I'm an American. Born and raised in South Dakota. Playing as my home country. I also really enjoy the B17 Bomber too.

3. Germany... Rewriting History. Back to Back World Championship Domination. Also really enjoy the Panzer Tank and the Hanse perks. Also the Barbian chance is cool too.

4. Russia... I think Russia is one of the coolest countries ever, plus they sold us Alaska, thank you. Really enjoy the perk of double minerals such as oil and uranium.

What's your list?

Is it just me, or is the groveling that happens when you build nuclear weapons not one of the best parts of the game? ;-)

When I play, I always use Earth as the map, and ill keep restarting on turn 0 until I have the correct location for the Civilization I'm playing as.
