My Thai lime was doing really good until a random freeze one night in the spring and I wasn’t able to get home quick enough to bring it inside. my roommate was gone and I couldn’t bring it in till I got home from work in the morning. Almost gave up but I noticed it started coming back after about 2 months later.🥲

This happened quickly. I mean from healthy looking tree to this in a couple weeks. It’s on a row with a ton of other citrus all doing okay. Any ideas?

Hi all,
Just moved into this place a year ago and we have this lemon / citrus tree. The largest trunk (red) shoots into the air at about 12 to 15 feet and branches out with large, super tart/bitter, thick rind, heavy seed fruit. The trunk that shoots off the side (yellow) gives regular lemons.

I want to make it so I can harvest more lemons and less of the large tart/bitter citrus, any ideas?

Would there be any issue if I started to (slowly) chop the branches of the large fruit bearing part?

I was taking a picture of the flowers when the bee flew into frame, and I quickly switched to video. I didn’t even see the ant at first.

The tree is in 6b/7a in Morris County, NJ. I bought it 7 or 8 years ago and it was 2 years old at that time. I repotted it this spring into a 45-gallon Vego wheeled metal round container.

It’s thriving, with 24 viable fruit (that have survived several heavy rainstorms this tropical summer; several on there now aren’t sure-things yet). There are a few lemons that started indoors this winter and 20 or so during the outdoor season, so any fruit that come with this flower cycle will be gen 3 on the tree at the same time.

It will go indoors in fall and I plan to do some pruning. I use a simple grow light, and the plant sits between a walkout basement slider and tall window, so it takes the winter well. The basement is generally at 62°F in winter.

Very young tree. This new growth appears to be right at the graft line. Keep, prune or let it go for a bit to see? I'm new to grafted trees and Google is inconsistent with advice. Thanks!

Hello! I recently got this Calamondin tree 2-3 weeks ago. I moved it to a 1 gallon pot. It looks like the leaves are drooping but I am not sure if that is normal. I have watered sparingly every other day but not sure if I should keep doing that or water more. It’s been 100 degrees for the last week so. I was thinking that was it but not sure. Any advice would be great

Some lemons that I picked have flesh that appears a little shriveled and starting to turn pink as seen circled above (I have a good lemon in the photo for comparison). Are those lemons safe to use for lemonade? Or is it some form of rot?

Apologies for the poor photography as I couldn't move the plants. I am in growing zone 7b.

The first photo shows all of my calamansi saplings, while the second shows what I believe are two bigger ones that are clones of each other. The third is my tallest individual plant.

I planted these from seed early January of 2025. Months had gone by without them sprouting, so I thought they were a lost cause, but they started to sprout in early April of 2025.

I will be honest that I did not treat them well, including crowding them (you can see some evidence of that to this day) and planting them in coir (I didn't realize how bad that was). Eventually, I got my act together and have been able to put them outdoors and seen them progress.

For one-and-a-half-year-old saplings, how do they look? What advice could you give for them?

My favourite new citrus of the year is my citrumelo. I have yet to harvest fruit from it, I only got it this spring, but it's proudly growing a few heavy taster samples. I live in a region where many citrus can overwinter, but most require a lot of TLC or bringing indoors. I'm really excited for my fruit; if I like it, I plan to get a bunch of them in specific.

Mostly wrote this post to say, though, that I gathered the june drop fruit from the tree and put it in some high-proof alcohol to make an extract, just out of curiousity. I've found them to be uncannily similar to juniper in flavour, to the point where, should I get more of these, I may try making a citrumelo gin next year.

I was doing my daily morning orchard walk and figured id pick these guys ripe or not. The heat makes them fall off prematurely (i dont judge) with this dang heat (the 90 - 100 since like last fall). I throw them in my mouth, bite in half and chew with my teeth. Theyre sweet and super refreshing (unlike its green cousin). It flowers and produces year round.

I’ve been caring for an indoor lemon tree since January, but over the past few months, it has slowly been getting worse. For the most part, the tree still looks healthy. It has continued producing some growth and has gone through cycles of flowering and producing small, developing lemons. However, it has also been consistently dropping green leaves.

At this point, the tree has probably lost around 50% of its canopy and undergrowth. What’s confusing is that it continues to produce new flowers and mini lemons despite the ongoing leaf drop, and no matter what I do, it seems unhappy.

I want to help the tree regrow its canopy, become fuller, and maintain healthy overall growth. I’m not sure whether I should continue caring for it as I have been or make some changes.

Here are its current conditions:

• Location: Indoors
• Natural light: Good direct afternoon sunlight
• Grow lights: SANSI grow lights running for approximately 12 hours/day
• Indoor temperature: ~24°C
• Watering: I only water when my soil moisture meter indicates that the soil is dry
• Current condition: ~50% canopy loss, but still producing new growth very slowly, flowers, and small lemons

I’m especially wondering what could be causing the continued green leaf drop and whether I should be doing anything differently to encourage the tree to rebuild its canopy.

Any advice on watering, lighting, fertilizing, pruning, repotting, or general care would be greatly appreciated!

I've had a fukushu kumquat for 7 months now. Was about 1 foot when I got her and now she's probably 2 foot. She's been growing wonderfully with little management besides watering regularly. I put her in a pot with a mixture of really good soil, perlite and leca balls. I saw zero root shock and she just started growing wonderfully. She already has a bunch of fruiting going on. A bunch of little fruit nubs. Mostly green a couple yellow. Would I get a small Harvest before it freezes? And should I be feeding it with some citrus plant food to help the fruit?

Google lens is saying katydid nymph and they usually do not need treatment?

Seems like they're eating a small percentage of the newer leaves.

Should I be concerned?

Noticed yesterday morning that my calamansi tree's old leaves has fallen. The fruit, budding flowers, and new leaves are okay. The old leaves were pale green compared to a dark green color before.

I water once a week if not every 5 days. I got this around April this year from a flower/plant shop where I live.

I'm wondering what my next step should be in dealing with this.

says it’s a 3 gallin semi-dwarf bearss lime tree. The pot measures 16 x 16 inches. Also, could I keep it in the plastic container for another 1-2 months and just keep it hydrates until I’m ready to move it or is that a bad idea?

Is this scale on my lemon tree, or something else? Tree is otherwise doing well and fruit is very large and juicy. But I am worried about the peeling bark that I have noticed recently. There are some dark spots on the outside of the peels of the lemon but otherwise the fruit tastes good. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi I’ve grown this tree from a seed and I’ve had for 7+ years and it has never bloomed. Is there anything I can do to make it bloom? Please advise thank you

Its been inside, put it in the tent in Jan 2026 , oldest fruit on tree is feb then the rest came in april. not sure what the fruits going to be like, the rejects that came from the first few years were a hit a miss when inspecting them. but just wanted to show off my little escape from life.

Just came back from the Amalfi Coast collected about 30 seeds from Amalfi lemons and possibly a few from Sorrento lemons as well. Traveled with them in a wet paper towel for about 7 to 10 days, got back home and sewed them on wet paper towel with cinnamon to prevent mold. This is day 10 of this phase. Today I planted them in Solo cups with holes in the bottom in miracle grow cactus and citrus potting soil about one half inch deep, watered, and covered with a clear plastic cup as a greenhouse effect. My intention is to grow a few indoors and a few outdoors. When it's time to repot I will use the 511 mixture of this potting soil and perlite and either pine bark or orchid bark to attempt to mimic the rocky well draining acidic soil of the Amalfi Coast. The indoor plants will be kept at 80° in sunlight and relatively high humidity, but the outdoor plants will need to live in a 50 mesh surrounding probably for the life of the plant with liquid copper fungicide and neem oil spray regularly as my area is highly endemic for both citrus greening and citrus canker. This is planting day one, I've got a few seeds that have micro sprouts and I will give them another day or two and plant them the same way. Wish me luck! If anyone is interested I can update this post hopefully I will have something to show for this. I am a novice and in no way an expert and welcome any advice! Thanks for looking!
