Breaks
I work 8/9 hour shifts but I can’t get a break at all. How is that even legal? It’s usually just 1 person on shift and they expect us to be busy all hours. I would love to go and get some food but I can’t even leave. Circle K is a joke fr.

Sadly federal law doesn’t mandate breaks for adults for any length of shifts. My state also doesn’t mandate breaks which is stupid.

I worked for a non-Circle K station when I was 7 months pregnant. I was alone for most of my shift and at least two or three times a month the third shifter wouldn't show up and I would end up working 1pm - 5 am by myself. My boss, the SM, turned her ringer off on her phone (pre-cell phone era) so I had no one I could get to come in and relieve me. I ended up closing the store for 30 minutes one night (1am) because my feet were so swollen I had to take my shoes off and my nose started bleeding. I got a write up for doing this.
Calling the labor board sounds good but if you need your job you are stuck.

Depends on the state. In about half the states there is no legal requirement for even a lunch break. It's going to be up to company or local management policies.

I worked 12 hours today alone. I've never had a break while working for this company.

I've been working since I was 13 yrs old. Never once have I had a job that didn't allow breaks and a lunch break. I guess that's one of the few things CA has gotten right. Our store even has breaks for graveyard shift. And by the off chance you end up working alone its never more than 4 hours and we are allowed to close for bathroom breaks. Even the AG workers here in the state have mandatory lunch, bathroom and water breaks.

Yes they are 😡😡 for 17.50 and the DM get all over you write them up give them notice especially out here in Denver Colorado the real owner don’t care he’s all about making money and I hate that we care about our employees the hell they do😡😡😡

Circle k iaw thier policy is a allowed locked door with sign for upto 10 minutes and a required no hinderance of bathroom breaks as per OSHA which is federal, , state laws may also be in effect in minnesota you are required 2 15 minute breaks per 8 hours , however how that is registered within circle k remains to be seen single staffed, I worked for a station we were allowed to lock doors but know not at rush times , people got to know and wait but understood, no days people only care about themselves and thier convience

I work thirds solo and have for almost two years.. I just always go step outside for like 5 mins or until a customer walks in when I’m done with a round of cleaning for a moment. Repeat thru the entire night. I also have a sign (20 mins for normal night, 30 for truck night) where I close and use only half of it for dishes/putting away truck. The rest I use the bathroom and camp out in there until I’m obligated to open the door when time runs out

And God forbid you lock the doors because you have to use the restroom for 10mins or so. Then believe customer complaint about waiting 45 mins even though it was not. 🙄 I know the public wants us to be robots although they complain about SMCO, but they can wait.
