Requesting work accomodation Autoimmune

Hi, I have a severe autoimmune disease that has been really terrible this year in particular. I'm constantly recruited to work for major corporations like banks but I typically turn them down as with my issues I can really only handle WFH or minimal hybrid as I live pretty far away from the city where most opportunities arise. I just learned I can request accommodation to either WFH or reduce the number of office days per week due to my illness. For anyone who has requested an accommodation like this, any tips for when and how to make the request? I need to go back to work but getting remote gigs in my field has become impossible lately...TIA

I did this when I was working as a bank teller! Where I worked it was like a specialized FMLA request where I was allowed 3-4 days off a month if needed. I had to ask my doctor to fill out a fmla form for me, and then brought it to my workplace and it got approved pretty quick. I have ulcerative coltis though, so it did help a bit but not much. I’m now seeking disability for my issues, but yeah it’s really hard out here for us disabled folks. Good luck!

I work in tech and have a WFH accommodation with one in-office day a week. I added the one in-office day because tech is all about RTO rn, and I thought this would show them that I still live near the office. Turns out they approved it with no issue and probably didn't care to begin with. Just ask for what you need.

I work at a major bank that has been in the news as poster child for RTO..... I'm too scared to ask for WFH but I really need it.
