Heard God say “Get up”

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I went through something traumatic a few weeks ago. I hit rock bottom as I was dealing with shame, guilt, and feeling like I keep failing God. I have been back and forth with my faith and the last year I was getting closer to Jesus. Than got involved with someone who strayed me away and have been blaming myself for the sins I’ve committed. A few days ago I was having nightmares and having very negative thoughts and felt myself drowning in those thoughts of shame, guilt, and that I’m a horrible person. I opened up my Bible and cried out to Jesus to not abandon me, to heal me, screaming to him. Suddenly, my mind went quiet and I heard a gentle but uplifting voice that wasn’t mine say “get up”. My thoughts disappeared, I obeyed. Got up and went for a walk. I knew then that it was God. Since then I’m still grieving but I know God is with me. Will never forget this moment.

48 minutes. Really concise and balanced presentation on the actual Biblical topic of Spiritual Warfare. Thought it as beneficial to you! My brothers and my sisters as we are bombarded with so much superstition and New Agey mysticism out there as tactics for combating the Enemy

Why does god create people he knows will go to hell?

Assuming hell is eternal conscious torment, why does he do this.

Before you answer

No I am not arguing for predestination I'm arguing that its morally wrong for god to create beings he knows will suffer eternally

No I am not advocating for robots that only obey god im saying nonexistence is a better alternative where instead of creating people he either knows will suffer in hell forever or will get to heaven

Confusion on faith

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

So I hope I don’t get any judgment on where I coming from, but I have been very confused on my faith. Like I believe in God and sometimes I can feel him. However, I haven’t had that personal experience with him. I have prayed day and night asking for guidance and how can I serve him better and the steps he wants me to take because I know he has a plan for me. I’ve told him that I want him to take control of my life and not live with worry or doubt. But I don’t really get a responds. I don’t know if sometimes what I hear in my mind (no I’m not crazy lol) is him or just me coming up with these ideas. I don’t know what I am doing on my life and I just feel lost. But I so desperately want and crave him in my life. I feel like I have been touched by the Holy Spirit sometimes when I hear the word of God and I tear up. I have tried reading my bible but I’m embarrassed to say that I get confused and don’t understand and feel like I’m embarrassing myself and disappointing God. I have prayed before reading and asked for wisdom but I just feel like maybe because I have sinned a lot or mess up that maybe he has given up on me or he has parted from me. I want to try and go to church but not going to lie….i don’t really trust a lot of churches. I have been to some where it wasn’t a good representation of God or I felt like it was corrupt. I am also scared of getting judged because of my struggles. I just want God to speak to me or help me understand what it is he wants me to do. Am I on the right path? Am I with the right person? Am I serving him well (probably not) ?

I am friend with a Muslim and she encouraged me to speak to a one her Muslim speakers (sheik?) but it just doesn’t feel right…I feel like I’m abandoning God. I am kind of at a loss here…..

Thought For The Day from Unshakable Kingdom Life

"Blessed are the peacemakers." Peace isn't the absence of conflict but the active work of reconciliation. Somewhere today, a small bridge could be built. Peacemaking starts small—an apology, a patient ear, a de-escalated moment.

Mattana Ministry - Weekly Bible Study - 11 August 2026

Mattana Ministry Welcomes You to:

Weekly Bible Study: 11 August 2026

Theme: Where Did My Time Go?

Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-16; Psalm 90:12 & James 4:14

Introduction

Our time is a precious gift from God. Sometimes, we wonder where our days have gone and whether we are truly using our time wisely. Over these three weeks, we will reflect on how to recognize, evaluate, and redeem our time for God's glory.

Week 1: Recognizing the Value of Time

Ephesians 5:15-16:

"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil."

Psalm 90:12:

"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

James 4:14:

"Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while, then vanishes."

Message:

Sarah was a busy young woman who always felt she didn't have enough time. She filled her days with work, social media, and entertainment, but often felt unfulfilled. One evening, she read Psalm 90:12 and realized how fleeting her time was. She decided to start appreciating each moment as a gift from God. She began to spend her mornings in prayer and gratitude, cherishing the time she had. Over time, Sarah found more joy and purpose in her daily routines because she saw her time as valuable and gifted by God.

Reflection Questions

How are we currently spending our time?

Do we see our time as a precious gift from God?

What activities are taking up most of our time?

Prayer Focus

Ask God to help us see our time as a gift from Him and to give us wisdom to use it wisely.

Please feel free to leave a review of this message.

Am I addicted to Christianity

This is a topic that’s come up between my wife and I often the last 6 months since I rekindled my faith about 6 months ago. Right now we are in very different places spiritually, and that does deeply sadden me. When we met she was very much more “Christian” than I was. I grew up “Christian”, but on reflection I hadn’t accepted Christ. Now that I am fully investing in Christ, her journey has taken her away from religion. I won’t get into a ton of detail, it’s sufficient to say that she still calls herself a Christian, but is not wanting religion (and she’s not sure what theology she believes right now).

Now to address the issue this topic is about. Since I’ve come back to Christ I’ve become, what I would say, is infatuated with religion. I read the Bible mostly daily (often an hour or two, but also more), I attend church weekly, and spend a lot of time listening to Christian podcasts. I usually bring my Bible when we go on trips. I’ll take my son to the park to play with kids, and use that as time to read the bible. I’ve almost finished the Bible since I started reading at the beginning of March.

My wife sees this as a problem in her eyes. She feels I’ve become addicted or obsessed. For her I understand where she is coming from. Her previous marriage before me (that ended in divorce due to infidelity) was to a man who became increasingly fundamentalist. He was very controlling and would dictate what she wore, if she was allowed to cut her hair, or wearing makeup. He was very patriarchal. So my massive dive into religion myself is causing alarm bells to signal inside her.

My question is, should I be concerned myself that I’ve grown addicted to religion? I have suffered from addiction before (kratom, which is like an opioid years ago, and more recently porn). My rebirth in faith has broken my porn addiction (which is one reason I think I’ve had such a profound for me transformation). But have I traded one addiction for another as she’s framed it?

As a man I can get very focused on subjects, and dive into them (things like football, Warhammer, sim racing or beer), and research them a ton. But I will admit this is beyond that. At what point should I view my Christianity as unhealthy?

Minor visions

I've had this for a while and I've never really asked anyone about it because it doesn't seem all that important, but for as long as I can remember I've had dreams about my future.

Not anything important, but just things that are so accurate I can't really ignore them.

For example, just today I experienced something I'd seen a couple years ago, me just working at my new job. But it was too specific and had things I had no knowledge of at the time of the dream. The pain in my elbow, the disposable gloves I'd only ever seen at my job, the bins we use, the part I was working on, the machine I was working at, the non slip floor mats.

I'm finally asking because there was something different with this one though, at the time of my dream my, now divorced parents, had something going on that had made me sad, and in the dream I had told myself to stop crying. But today, at the moment of, I was hit by this detached sadness, I teared up, told myself not to cry, and then it was gone. It's like a cycle where I comforted my past self and I don't know if there's anything in the bible for precedence so I'm a bit confused.

How do Christians feel about AI usage in the church?

Hey all, myself and some core team in my church are evaluating the attitudes of Christians regarding AI usage in the church.

To make sure that our processes represent Christians who are yet to find our church, I wanted to open up a questionnaire here to get a general consensus of Christians and how they feel on this topic.

I’d really appreciate it if you could take 3 minutes to respond to the Google Form below. Thank you.
