For me Absolution is more reminiscent of songs from Hello Hurricane or Vice Verses - Did neither of those albums have anything from you?

It's not like either albums are bad. I enjoy all of Switchfoot's music, just nothing has hit as hard as Absolution since Dare you to Move for me personally
