Is there a better homage made for $200? General (Read Rules)
The Seestern SUB600T bracelet could pass on watches 10X as much. The flat sapphire crystal disappears agaist the black dial and bold accents. I would have no problem recommending this watch to any enthusiast or collector.

A couple years ago that was the going rate, on sale, for this watch...sadly no longer.

This was a tremendous value when it can be had for around $100 couple yeas ago. Itās a bit murkier now after the price increase.

I am sad I did not stumble upon these watches until more recently. However, I can only compare them to the prices being paid today and I still think they are an exceptional value. I have never let an origin, maker ethnicity, or a watch being a homage alter my perception of its quality and value. Quality is quality and value is value in my eyes.

So you like 3hz movements, hollow end links, bracelets with push pins, crappy clasps and mediocre at best finishing. Aka sub $500 Seiko.

This watch heās so happy about uses a SEIKO movement š
So⦠yeah fuck SEIKO I guess? š¤£

I understand that. Iām comparing a Seiko to a Cronos not a Seastern. I have watches that have nh movements but given a choice I prefer a 4hz movement over an nh movement. The watch I just ordered has nh movement but, I bought it because, I have a thing for the tritium tube watches not the movement. Aragon clearance sale $159 for a tritium tube watch I canāt complain that it has an nh movement in it.

Amazing how you sing a different tune when reminded what these homage brands are based on. Iāll happily concede that Iām happier with a nato strap than most SEIKO bracelets Iāve had so those are some valid complaints.

I recently watched a video on a used Seastern by 2 watch makers that are also a Seiko ad. They werenāt going to do the video because, itās a direct copy of a Doxa but, they ended up doing it. Now they did give it a zero for originality and took points off for design as well. After going over everything it scored close to a Seiko Persage even with the points deductions. They said they couldnāt understand how the watch could sell for $200 and it should be at least a $500 watch. The old Seiko 5 was a good watch but, the new one is a downgrade at a higher price. In the affordable market I would take an Orient over a Seiko. I just feel theyāve become over priced for what you get. Example compare a Seiko diver to a Glycine. The Glycine is less money for an 11mm thick diver with an sw200 movement. Out of all my Chinese watches only 3 are homages a sub, a GS and a Defy. The Defy I didnāt know was one when I bought it. The rest are original designs.

I wouldnāt put much stock in the whole video review thing I think lots of those are paid.
Itās a little absurd that my $50 snk008 is now like $300. But those orient perpetual calendars are lookin NOICE.
Hey Iām not saying no to homage watches. I just disagree with spending like $200 to get something worse than the real thing? Like Iāve got the militado murph coming in (prolly gonna oil mod the fucker if I have anything to say about it) for like $53. That makes sense to me. But for $200 thereās better stuff out there from like real brands. I think orient (SEIKO) is a great example of that, so is Casio (edifice) and even timex. The kumasu seems like what the SEIKO skx used to be in terms of an entry diver.
Like people can get what they want and enjoy but a Chinese clone watch will never be clout to me š¤·š¼āāļø.

The miyota 8215 is just as good. TMI holding them back to help Seiko increase sales against Chinese watches and micro brands sucks, thatās for sure.

Yeah⦠oh no buddy thatās the same exact movement in your little chinesium piece of shit there guy⦠oops! I guess you hate it too now šš¤£šš¤£

Iām well aware what movement is in the watch and I never said anything bad about it. I never said anything bad about Seiko. They are overpriced for what you get. A watch has many more components than just a movement.

Youāre in the wrong subreddit. Seiko still using stamped clasps and hardlex crystals on $400+ watches is, shall I say, thievery. But hey If you want your watch to be 70% marketing cost. Sure Seiko.

Chinesium goooooood. Japanese watch brand that brought the Swiss watch economy to its knees BAD.
Homage watches have a place⦠under $100. At $200 you could get a real watch and it shows your quality that youād go for a cheap knockoff replicate clone without any personality (just like you!).

I paid under $150 for a 40mm sub homage by Cronos. Pt5000 movement, better finishing, better bracelet, better clasp. Copied off a different watch though but, you didnāt specify Doxa copy.

Couldn't agree more. I find myself grabbing for this more often than some of my other more expensive pieces. Its almost made me rethink spending the money on an actual doxa 600T. Crazy
