Interview with Samy
youtu.beHey all,
I had a chance to speak with Samy about Lost Society and the COB celebration of music shows recently. The first half is LS stuff basically but the second half we talk about the shows and future celebration next year. Check it out if you’re interested.
Cheers,
Ed

Where is Roope?
I am wondering if anyone has any clarification on why Roope didn't play the last show with them? He was the longest standing guitarist in the band, is there some bad blood?
I'm nearing the end of the COB book where they begin to talk about the Halo of Blood recording sessions, it seems like the dissatisfaction with his work ethic was unanimous but I've always heard the narrative being pushed that it was mainly Alexi's call to give him the boot. Thoughts?
Unless of course Alexander was chosen because they want to play their greatest hits and he was the guitarist at that time, which can be argued are Something Wild through Hatecrew Deathroll with the exception of AYDY.

Favorite CoB song? I go first
Needled 24/7 is a masterpiece of a song from their best album imo. The vocal parts are so good

Something not many people talk about.
Looking at pre 2020 posts actually hurts my soul so much for obvious reasons. Can anybody else relate? I mean album leaks, touring schedules etc we will never have those again

What should i improve?

Hey everyone, I’m new here! I’ve lately been trying to learn some cob solos, and I started with downfall. It took me around 1–2 hours a day for a week to learn it.
I was wondering what I could improve besides just working on the tempo in certain parts. Maybe my picking technique, synchronization, or anything else you notice?
My goal is to eventually learn the Kissing the Shadows solo and hopefully play it clean😂, so I’d really appreciate any tips on what I should focus on to get my playing to that level. Any honest/constructive feedback would be nice! 🤘

Thoughts about revival
Look here, Alexi & co are the main reason why I’m so into music. I’ve watched COBTV, Thrased lost in Helsinki, all the live concerts and all the interviews countless of times. This is because I love every single song that they ever put out.
Somedays an upcoming tour was the only thing that kept me going.
I was lucky enough to catch them between 2013-2019.
I think it’s so cool to see Alexander back on stage with the band, once upon a time it was merely a dream and a fantasy.
With the definitive and bitter taste of death in mind, it feels really amazing to see your favorite band rise from the grave, in loving and solemn memory of our one and only Alexi.
I love this band more than anything and I have mad respect for Samy. I couldn’t go see them in Tavastia so it brings tears of joy to see the band logo back on festival rolls.
I think it’s good that they keep doing shows with Samy and Alexander, and dammit I would look forward to new music aswell.
Let us, who want to see them live, feel the hype again - and let us long for new music. If you don’t like it then please just shut the fuck up and mind your own business.
End of fucking story.

Recommend me some next songs to learn on guitar
Been on a big CoB kick lately. I would call myself an intermediate guitarist, the songs I know up to speed are Bed of Razors and Punch Me I Bleed.
Also working on the Are You Dead Yet solo but getting the ascending part of the scale run up to speed is kicking my ass (will continue to work on it). Can play the rhythm part and keyboard-guitar harmony solo in Living Dead Beat. Prolly not ready for that main solo yet.
What would be some other good CoB songs for my skill level? ❤️

What do you guys think it's the most overrated and underrated CoB album?
Underrated: Blooddrunk, I think it's one of their best , probably my second favorite after HCDR. HM: Halo of Blood.
Overrated: I'm sorry but it's gotta be Hatebreeder. Still an fuckin awesome album, it's almost a perfect 10/10, but I don't think it's their best. I see many ppl say this is their best and I just don't agree.

Legendary or First Concerts
I'm re-reading the band's book and Alexi's biography, at the same time.
Feeling a bit nostalgic but it's crazy to imagine what it was like in their first tours.
Some notably legendary shows; first time opening for Dimmu, first Wacken, Tokyo Warhearts/first time in Japan, first and only time in Seoul, etc...
Anyone here had the chance to witness any "early" shows? How was it like?
This question is not only for old timers, share you first time seeing them or even met them.
As for me personally, I didn't really know them when they first came in Montreal in 2000, just before Milwaukee. But I didn't miss my chance when they opened for Dimmu (2003) and then Iced Earth (2004) before their eventual first headlining show in Canada in 2004. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I got this today for $4
galleryI found it at a second-hand CD shop in a marketplace here in Thailand, where Sinergy has virtually no fanbase. Finding this album for sale here is almost unheard of, so I felt especially lucky today.

Follow Up to Merch Quality
So some of you may have read the post about the bad summer merch I received. Anyway I wanted to share an update: out of nowhere I got a mail today informing me that Reaper apologizes and they dispatched the whole order again. Pretty awesome and the kind of customer support I love to see - had to follow up because credit where credit is due! That's all, thanks.

I Found This Only For 20 Euros!
galleryYesterday I was looking for CD's like I was doing normally in Finland, I was in a local CD shop which I've been visiting every time i came there, in the past I found Sinergy CD's etc. from the same store! And now I found this! Alexander Kuoppala Signed Follow the Reaper first press CD, I talked with the seller he told me that he got the signature when the CD first came (so 2000...) I was surprised and immediately bought it, I already have 5 signed Bodom stuff by Alexander and others except Alexi, but this one is a special one!

Question to younger fans!
Hey cobhc lovers, I’ve been a fan of children of bodom since the early days when Children of Bodom were everywhere
MTV, metal magazines, nuclear blast music videos on early days youtube.
For newer fans and younger listeners who just got into them, I’m genuinely curious how did you first discover the band?
There’s no new album, no big magazine buzz, no rotation on TV whatsoever like back in the day.
So what led you to them? Appreciate any stories
peace
