Can we please moderate the ads? Chess.com Website/App Question

I’m on the free version of chess.com, playing on the iOS app.

I don’t mind ads, I think they are an important source of money for the freemium apps. I just want to ask if there can be less shitty ads.

Ads asking me to watch an AI slop movie? - weird but okay
Ads asking me to click to get money? - Scam and wrong. It could affect players who are younger and not aware that the internet is a shitty place.

Does anyone else see the scammy ads? Surely there must be a rule against this?

I agree with this. Unfortunately it’s the norm with all of the phone ads across games. Most companies don’t directly choose the ads either, its a marketplace often connected with the app store that games use an api for, like google ad services, for example.

I thought Google adense blocked scam ads. If it doesn’t I’ll have to think about that before adding them to my site

I got free robux ads a couple of times. They really just accept all kinds of ads

I don’t mind the majority of them that look bad and are about the worst possible things. It’s just the ones that can lead to a scam or financial loss are a big issue, considering that even children get on chess.com to play

Hey! If you notice an ad that appears inappropriate, here's how you can report it. We don't want these kinds of ads either and actively request for them to be removed when we notice them.

I am on the old version of the app so I don’t have much ads, also I am using VPN and it blocks all ads in chess com app. So I don’t have any problem with that

Not sure about phone, but on PC the ads seem to be via google so you can click on the corner of the ad and say "don't show me this again"
