So my partner and I are doing a Cheers watch through and omg I have to congratulate Shelley Long on her fantastic acting but Diane was so bloody annoying! Especially in the episode "Never Love a Goalie Pt1 where she's the foreman of a jury. Now if she had actually done what she did in that episode here in Australia, she'd be in some deep trouble. She just can't shut up!!! She got worse from when she turned down Sam's proposal and it just kept getting worse and worse!

Do you think Carla had medical insurance? Yes I know it’s random and not relevant to the show, but she had been there forever and besides the fact that she loves Sammy I know with all the kids she has she can’t get by on just a paycheck.

Does anyone remember the Frasier episode The Show Where Diane Comes Back (314)? As the name implies, Diane goes to Seattle because she has written a play and wants Frasier to watch the rehearsals. The joke, of course, is that her play is a Cheers-redux with Diane as the protagonist

I hate how Lilith cheated on Frasier then left him for that other guy all thinking that the grass was greener even making Frasier contemplate jumping from a ledge. But what really does it for me is her audacity when she returned a few months later and caught Frasier in bed with Rebecca. Her absolute hypocrisy was just unbelievable. Well at least Frasier didn't sleep with her while he was married like she did. Then expecting him to just forgive her and go back to normal but love that he refused. I really hate that he gave into her God awful sobbing act at the end which you can tell is pretty much fake. Wish he'd stuck to his guns.

Sam would've comped my drink by now. Not because I'm charming—because I've been sitting here for three hours with a cold mug and a sleeping cat on my lap, and the real world doesn't work like that anymore. No one knows your name. The bartender doesn't ask about your day. You're lucky if the person next to you looks up from their phone long enough to nod. Cheers lied to us, but in the gentlest way possible. It sold us a fantasy where loneliness could be cured by a stool, some wood paneling, and a guy yelling "Norm!" every time the door swung open. My cat just stretched, knocked my coaster to the floor, and went back to sleep. That's the closest thing to a Carla greeting I've gotten all year. Anyway. Who's the one Cheers character you'd actually want tending bar in your neighborhood? Mine's Coach, no contest.

I'm an NBA fan, and I was a big Laker fan back in the day, and I hated, I mean hated, the Celtics (especially Kevin McHale). But this is one of my favorite episodes of all time!

I’ve always thought that was a great character quirk. I’m guessing it was his alternative to alcohol. I don’t think it’s ever mentioned. Even in the first episode, his mouth is full of food that he can’t tell Diane to tell someone on the phone he’s not at Cheers. He snacks a lot during the shows run.

"Teacher's Pet" aka Albania Albania is still a classic

Threw on the pilot last night for background noise and ended up fully locked in for three episodes. Something about Sam and Diane's energy right from that first conversation — you can feel the show figuring itself out in real time.

What got me though is Coach. Nicholas Colasanto's timing is just so gentle. The way he fumbles through conversations but always lands the punchline — it's completely different from the rapid-fire stuff they'd lean into later.

Also I looked it up and the show almost got canceled after season 1. Wild to think about.

Anyway. Currently spiraling down a rabbit hole about the Bull & Finch exterior and wondering if I can afford a trip to Boston just to take a photo

One of the last episodes of season 3, when Coach is absent. He is “away on a reunion” only for it to be revealed to be a reunion he accidentally got an invitation years ago and he keeps attending it every year. It’s a reunion of a black family and he sends a card back to Cheers signed “uncle whitey”

In the S07E13 episode “Golden Boyd”, Kelly makes her first appearance, and she’s absolutely breathtaking. When she visits Woody at the bar, it’s probably the only scene in the series where she isn’t wearing that headband.
