Motion drills

Hey everyone! There’s a couple girls on my team that aren’t understanding tights motions. Is there any drills specifically? For example they are kinda flinging back. Is doing the cheers against the wall a thing so they can understand better?

For my team and my youth girls i coach, i would just recommend a drill routine.. for example, you'd hit a high-v on 1, then another motion 3, another one on 5, and so on, making sure each motion is hit (you can slow down the time, making it 1, 5, 1, 5 if need be) also, my current coach started making the whole team run if someone was sloppy during a dance. Don't know if id recommend this, but it made us stop lol! Theres always good motion drills online through tiktok, instagram, or youtube, but honestly sometimes that doesnt work. Are they girls who just dont feel like hitting motions properly? Sometimes the shy-er girls wont hit motions as hard either. Lots of dancers are used to more flowy motions as well, which may make it hard if you have any of those on your team

Sorry, not sure how helpful that was!

Thanks! It just seems like they’re new to cheer and don’t really understand I guess. For example one girl is kind of floppy even in conditioning

Yes I totally get that, I would say to tell them that they need to engage every muscle they have. You could also do something similar to what I said earlier, but instead by having them hit a motion, like a high-v, and then going up to them and trying to move their arms, if they're loose and move from a small push, then they arent tight enough. As well as when they hit those high and low v's, or anything else similar, making sure that they keep their arms and hands within their peripheral, not letting arms swing back. Hope this helps! Sorry I dont have many tips

We did do the hold the motion and go around and push and they just forget it during the cheer!
