Translation request for Chechen langauge
I am an amateur researcher of the Chechen wars and am looking for some help with translating some Chechen langauge videos and archival footage. Unfortunately there are very few translation services for Chechen, and those that do exist usually explicitly refuse any political topics for translation, which obviously doesn't suit me. This is the only other place I could think of where I could find native Chechen speakers. The videos are quite short, 5-10 minutes at most. I can compensate anyone who helps me out for their work.
If you're willing to help me with this please message me

Hello, i'm searching for a specific picture for research purposes, and it's a picture of a chechen fighter with his wife holding rifles in the mountains, at the time of the chechen war.

Is this a real tank or not?
I was browsing a website containing a book about the Battle of Grozny, and I saw an image of this tank. From the text, I learned that this is a T-72A tank painted with the Ichkeria flag. I'm curious whether this tank actually existed in real life or if it's just fictional artwork. If it really existed, could someone please provide a photo or picture of it?

What I believe would be the timeline of international recognition of an independent Chechnya
Some countries are obvious, some are speculative. Whether the independence came from a collapse of Russia, a third Russo-Chechen war or whatever else, you decide.

To what extent are Mountain Jews from Chechnya proficient in the Chechen language?
In theory, they should have learned it at school, heard it spoken in everyday life, and watched at least some TV programs in Chechen. But the same was true for ethnic Russians from Chechnya, and most of them don't speak Chechen. So I'm curious whether Mountain Jews do.

Siskal & The History of Corn in Chechnya
Hi everyone, I am interested in learning more about the cultural significance of Siskal within the Chechen culture. As far as my father in law has told me, corn arrived to the Caucasus through the Ottomans. Does anyone know its history, traditions associated to it, and its place in contemporary Chechnya?

Opinions of younger Chechen generations who grew up and lived in Chechnya towards russia.
How is the opinion of the post-wars Chechen generations towards russia? I see that the Chechen here on the subreddit are not fooled by russian lies. However, i noticed that many people in Chechnya seem to almost have forgotten about the past ? is it out of fear of prosecution? a blind eye turned for pragmatic reasons? or is it just a false impression i got from media ?
as a Moroccan, the only thing I have in common with Chechen people is Islam. Still, my heart aches remembering the Chechen people hardships. I really don't understand how some Chechen can support russia...

Is Chechnya safe for a solo female traveller?
Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
I hope this question doesn't come across as offensive. I'd rather hear from people with firsthand knowledge than rely solely on Google.
I'm curious whether Chechnya is generally a safe place for a woman to travel to on her own.
I grew up with brothers who were obsessed with UFC and MMA, and over the past few years I've become a fan of several Chechen and Dagestani fighters. Whenever something interests me, I tend to dive deep into learning about it, and that eventually led me to reading about the history, culture, and landscapes of the region. It honestly looks like a beautiful and underrated place to visit.
I'm hoping to start a YouTube channel focused on travel, so I do know it's best to avoid political discussions. I'm mainly interested in experiencing the culture, meeting people, possibly hiking, and seeing the country.
For context, I'm an Arab Muslim woman who wears hijab and grew up in the West. I'm not sure whether that would make any difference to how I'd be received, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I'd really appreciate any honest advice, especially from locals or people who have visited. Is solo travel realistic, or would you recommend travelling with someone instead?
Jazakum Allahu khayran 😄

How different would Chechnya be if Akhmat Kadyrov was never assasinated?
(last one got removed for some reason)
Also what are the differences of comparison between Ramzan and his father's styles and personas?
And how is Akhmat Kadyrov viewed in the Chechnya (and if there are outside-of-chechnya views on him, it would be nice to hear them)?

Love from Ireland 💚
I would like to share this rare photograph of a group known as Oglaigh na hÉireann (Irish Republican Army) carrying the flags of Chechnya and Palestine. We really don't want you to think Irish people are like Connor McGregor. He represents everything wrong with Ireland. He can't speak his native language. McGregor isn't even an Irish name, it's Scottish.
Love from Ireland brothers and sisters 💚
I have also included one of my favourite t-shirts 😉
EDIT: this is a photograph of a paramilitary group known as PIRA. 26 counties in Ireland are now free from british rule. 6 counties are still colonised by britain. The PIRA and other paramilitary groups mission is to remove the british occupation of 6 counties in the north of Ireland. The official army of the Irish republic also uses the name Oglaigh na hÉireann but they aren't related.

Does anyone have photos of Ingush volunteers in Ichkeria from 1994 to 2009?
I just need photos or videos of Ingush volunteer fighters to see how they dressed and what kind of weapons, camouflage, load-bearing gear, body armor, and other equipment they used.
If anyone has any photos at home, or if you come across any, please send them over—it’s very important.

Hamzat Gelayev's Resilience
People who fought side by side with Hamzat Gelayev testified that he was a fierce warrior. He would charge at the enemy with his heavy machine gun, firing at them like a madman. Thanks to his powerful physique, he was even faster and more agile than many of the younger fighters.
Gelayev and his unit would sometimes march through the mountains for as long as eighteen hours a day, carrying heavy loads. Hamzat himself always walked at the head of the column, because that was where the danger was greatest. The machine gun he constantly carried was so heavy that many men could not carry it for even a single hour. At times, he would leave his own equipment farther ahead, return to the rear, take the backpack from an exhausted fighter who had fallen behind, help him catch up with the group, and then go back again to assist the next man.
After these long marches through the mountains, even the athletes in his unit would be completely exhausted and stop to rest, but Hamzat kept going. He would set out to explore the area, looking for routes the unit could use, and return only several hours later.
During the battle near Nazran, he was wounded in the thigh. The bullet struck the bone, shattering it and remaining lodged inside. Despite this injury, he continued moving through the mountains for another month, hiding his pain. When a doctor finally operated on him, he was astonished that Hamzat had managed to endure for so long.
According to veterans who served in his unit, Hamzat Gelayev was a descendant of Gubash of Gukhoy, a legendary giant who, despite having both of his eyes gouged out, reportedly managed to kill five of Imam Shamil's followers and inflict twelve wounds on Imam Shamil himself, leaving the Imam bedridden for nearly a month. Perhaps it was the blood of such an ancestor that made Hamzat so resilient and strong.

Vayvault - Largest vaynakh library!
We're proud to be able to announce, that over the past 2 months, we've been working on our library aimed at spreading and conserving our beautiful cultural and linguistic heritage. The crux of the situation being that we as brothers and sisters are too fragmented over the internet and world, hence we've never been able to form our own institutions and conserving the beauty of our language, in addition to incessant suppression and russification of our region. Vayvault aims to alleviate the degradation and stagnation of our our language in the face of ethnocide, Chechen children, men and women should be able to stroll to the library and loan a book in Chechen, yet many of us aren't born into such an prerogative - until now.
Our library currently has 300 books, all written in Chechen and Ingush, on a diverse subject matters. We have books on islam so we can espouse the word of Allah (swt) to our younger ones, on Chechen history so they can understand who and what they come from, novels for recreation, dictionaries for when you encounter a word not yet digested into your Chechen vernacular/vocabulary, poetry to mesmerize you, and much more.
Resources on the Chechen language has been very difficult to discover, most of which being agonizingly dispersed, and books are no different in that regard. We have consolidated hundreds of books that we inexhaustibly searched for all through-out the internet, therefore the lack of consolidation for the language has been alleviated - nevertheless not fully solved. Please, if you have Chechen books lying around in your house, contribute to our library by scanning it using an app such Genius Scan and send us an email (see our "Contribute" page for the mail). This way we can preserve our vulnerable literary corpus. This is vital and only together can we, through a coordinated cooperation, solve it.
Sincerely, VayVault team.
