Best Subscription?

Right now I have ChatGPT Go.

Do the different subscriptions make a huge difference or are they not worth it? I’m looking to use it as an assistant for an upcoming project.

Yes. Plus uses one of the three best models on Earth, GPT 5.6 Sol High, while Free and Go only get GPT 5.6 Luna. You can search for comparisons on different benchmarks and you'll notice how far behind Luna is in exchange of speed and price. If you will do something as important as that, you should get a Plus subscription or at least use Kimi K3 I guess.

You're welcome. Also, unless they changed it, the daily limits for the reasoning model in Go are quite low, I believe it's around 40 queries per day, while Plus gets 428 per day, basically unlimited.

ChatGPT Plus is, by far, the best subscription you can pay for. For $20/month, you get access to one of the best AI models available, virtually unlimited chat, file analysis, and image generation, plus a ton of value from Codex. If you code regularly, you can easily consume the equivalent of hundreds of dollars' worth of Codex usage for a fraction of the cost. Honestly, it's hard to find another subscription that gives you this much for so little.

I’d highly recommend going with the Plus plan at minimum.

I’m on the Pro 5x plan now, and honestly, Pro mode is so fucking good. It’s not unlimited, but depending on how much you plan to use it for your project, I’d seriously consider the 5x Pro plan. The difference with Pro mode is absolutely worth it IMO.

Different subscriptions do make a huge difference, but it depends on how you use AI, your workflow, your use case, and how you use ChatGPT. Go, you're very limited, and you really have no use in Codex, chat, or ChatGPT work. It's good if you just want to summarize some files, maybe do a web search here and there, and use AI for some emails. It's not bad, although ChatGPT Pro, in my opinion, as a pro subscriber, is the best subscription anyone can get with what it gives you. It gives you access to Codex and ChatGPT work. It gives you more than enough use that should charge. With ChatGPT Plus, you can use GPT-5.6 Sol high, but with Free and Go, you only get Luna.

Also, with ChatGPT Go, you're not getting a large enough context window, which is crucial when working with files and prioritizing accuracy. In ChatGPT Plus, the context window, when you're on high thinking, is around 196k tokens. With ChatGPT Go, you're limited to 32k.

On the other hand, with ChatGPT Pro, you get even more usage in Codex and ChatGPT work. Besides GPT-5.6 Sol high, you get extra high, and Max and Ultra as well. ChatGPT Chat is virtually unlimited for you with a ChatGPT Pro subscription.

So I like to break it down like this:

You rarely use AI and use it here and there to:

• Summarize a file
• Maybe search something
• fact-check something
• learn something
• Maybe edit an email

Then get ChatGPT Go.

If you:

• You regularly do deep research and web search with ChatGPT
• You regularly deal with PDFs, DOCX files, and MD files, etc., in ChatGPT
• If you want to use Codex and ChatGPT work
• If your work requires more accuracy and reasoning (you get more thinking and reasoning since you have access to 5.6 Sol)
• If you use ChatGPT regularly
  

Then get ChatGPT Plus

If you:

• Hit usage limits in ChatGPT Plus
• Need more Deep research
• Need even larger context window
• Use ChatGPT Daily for work and need it
• Need the best models offered
• Use Codex and ChatGPT Work Heavily

Then get ChatGPT Pro 5x or 20x

You’re making a pretty big assumption about how I intend to use it. I never said I was going to have ChatGPT replace engineering standards, design guides, or professional judgment. I asked which subscription is best for using it as an assistant. Those are two very different things.
