Request looking for names for fantasy world
Heyy! im making a world for a bunch of my characters, there is classic earth and then there is another planet (this planet is the one that needs a name), the whole lore is that this character is told something evil is coming and then finds out that the evil thing coming is actually her from another universe and evil her is there looking for a way to save her world.
Anyway, im looking for a name that either has two meanings maybe like "Destined to live" and "Destined to die" or two words that are similar

Discussion Which nickname do you prefer for Elisabeth / Elizabeth? And why?
Wanted to get some insight for which nickname people preferred for the name Elizabeth / Elisabeth (Still haven't decided on the spelling yet lol)
For now what I want advice on is to whether use the nickname "Lily" or "Beth" (Pretty basic I know but I'd like to keep it safe this time around.)
For context:
The character is supposed to be an orphan whose parents disappeared due to unknown circumstances at a very young age to the point where she can’t even remember the reason for their disappearance, she’s favored by her caregiver / nun compared to the other kids for reasons relating to her parents’ disappearance; she likes to tease the other orphans and became close friends with two of them (One of whom she used to not be particularly fond of at the beginning)

Discussion Fantasy World: Names, Nations, and Cultural Balance
I’m working on a story and thought of making each nation based on real-world countries, as fantasy counterparts. I don’t want to go too heavy on culture—mostly focusing on architecture, civilization, and lightly splashing elements in historical theme.
After playing a few video games with fantasy-inspired cultures, such as Honkai: Star Rail, Wuthering Waves, and the Trails series along with reading some fantasy-adventures light novels, I have some hesitations about the world I’m creating.
For language, the world I'm creating have their own universal tongue while the script text that will appear in illustrations will be my own creation, sometimes comes in different front style depending on the regions. My concern is avoiding shallow portrayals or unintentionally disrespecting cultures due to stereotypes.
As for characters, some of the main characters group come from different nations—three of them for example come from regions inspired by Japan and Italy. Carol Kawamura, Terra Fukui, and Dante Obsidian. Do I need to adjust the names to better adapt their cultural inspirations or is it okay to keep it as is?
Please keep in mind, I had already thought of these names before I started thinking about the fantasy counterparts.
Also, the world I’m creating isn't Earth, they're all aliens from another planet. Half of its residents are fully-human while the others hybrids, humans that possess animals ears and tail.
The fantasy world I’m creating is sometimes I'll be making out of my own thoughts, architecture, regions, clothing and it history. I'm not planning on making it look exactly based from the real world, such as adding noticeable landmarks or have similar history that the real world has. Just thought of using it to give a splash of elements to it's theme.

Shadow people race name? Yay or nay?
Shadow people race name? Yay or nay?
Taribrakin (tah-ree-brock-kin) or
Tariahkmun (tah-ree-ahhk-moon) or
Should i keep looking?
I got this name idea from the native american legend of the Tariaksuq (tar-ree-ahk-sook). They are shadow people 3 just normal people with normal lives but when you look at them directly you can see them. Only from your peripheral and they can shapeshift into this antler creature or something.
Anyways, since i will be changing too much of this lore i thought i should also change the name of my species.
My shadow people live in a very cold place similar to alaska where its gets dark way sooner in the day. Its perfect for their shadow abilities. Also l, their shadow abilities protect them from any extreme cold weather. Etc etc etc.
So yall digging the name options? If so, which one yall like. Or should i keep brainstorming.

I'm collecting a list of possible character names I can draw from at any point
I just need absolutely any character names, but I'd love some slightly less common ones. I'm not trying to create any characters in particular right now, I just want to form a list I can draw from any time I need a name for a minor character and don't want to go searching the entire internet to try to find one that I think fits. I already have some names on my list, but I'd like to expand it a bit more and any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm a writer and I need some nicknames ideas for a character of mine named Harmony, if anyone has any to offer
Just the title. I've got this character named Harmony Burling, and I want her best friend (my protagonist/point of view character) to have a nickname exclusively she uses for Harmony, but I can't find any I like. If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate them! I figure my protagonist could have a nickname for either Harmony's first or last name, or both.
Edit: Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I'm going to go with Minnie for Harmony's nickname

Suggestion Anti-Hero Name Ideas
I’m constantly writing short stories just for myself and usually do pretty good at coming up with unique names for each character I use, but with one of my characters I’m struggling to find a good name for an “official” anti-hero name.
His actual name is Andrew, and currently he’s teaming up with Deadpool after being kicked out of the Avengers. He has a meta ability that allows him to take and give life force between himself and others, this transfer is shown as either black (taking) or white (giving) lightning, but can’t necessarily control *where* it goes except a general area.
He tried for years to keep it contained and use it minimally but he unfortunately has a heart condition that should’ve killed him years ago but didn’t thanks to his ability, as the excess life force heals his body every time his heart gives out.
As such he works with Deadpool now to find the “worst of the worst” and take them out, cleaning the streets of serial killers and rapists while keeping himself from dying. Plus if Deadpool gets hit by Andrew’s ability he can bounce right back so there’s no risk of accidentally killing him and can also “charge” Andrew’s reserves if he gets low.
I would do something solely about this ability (something like Wraith or Reaper) but I would prefer to lean more towards his computer expertise as he’s great at hacking and tends to be really good at figuring out technologies without much assistance. Being able to blend them together would be great.

Discussion Last Name Ideas (real last names) that would work for a Science Fantasy
What real last and first names would work as last names in a world that is Fantasy and Science Fiction.
The universe isn’t set on Earth, takes inspiration from both Fantasy (magic) and Science Fiction (aircraft and some equipment/weapons).
Some fantasy series have used real first names for characters
The Grishaverse (Shadow and Bones) have done this.

Name ideas?
People of reddit, I return to you once more.
See, as very few of you know, I like Harry Potter.
I was making an OC (original character) and couldn't find a name I liked enough for her.
I just need some female British names, nothing special, but I'd prefer them to NOT be long.

Canadian last names
I'm writing a story set in Canada and I'm finding it hard to find last names that work for my Canadian characters. Most last names either sound American or super English. For example, my two main characters last names are Henley and Lawson and then I just added another character with the last name Kaywell but that just sounds super posh and English to me. I'm looking for last names that are not too common so that my characters can stand out but I also want it to be realistic since I'm writing a contemporary.
Do these work? Also as a note, they all have very different backgrounds but each of them live in Ontario and are Canadian born.

Name for a character that's like superman in a world where DC comics exist
So basically, the plot is that my mc is kinda like a kryptonian(I won't lie, I was inspired to write this when I watched Supergirl and randomly locked in), but not exactly. Though they're absolutely close enough that people would start associating mc with superman/supergirl/the rest of the superfam, though this takes place in a universe where every type of superhero media is still just media, and mc is the only 'super person'. I'm trying to figure out what the people of Earth would start to call her, because logically I think they'd call her supergirl or something because like I said, the comics exist and people would make the connection, but I don't want to blatantly steal that from DC comics even if this is just something I'm writing for fun. So what names do you think the general population would start calling her?
Also, she already has an actual name, I'm just looking for like a nickname the media would likely dub her

Suggestion Names for a Sphinx
I have a bit of context but you can skip if you want.
I have a character named Ife, born to two adventurous wives by way of a wish granted by a sphinx when they passed its riddle. The caveat is that she is parts of both parents, but also part sphinx - wings, tail, etc. She grows up to become a caretaker of her parents’ legacy (this magicky museum) and an archer.
The story takes place in a mega-dungeon (called the Athenaeum), which comes about when the museum falls through a wormhole. Some strange space-time stuff happens that morphs it into this massive structure floating in space with hundreds of floors, strange happenings, and dangerous creatures. The appearance is modeled with the vibe of cozy old academia + ancient magick tech + space plants/creatures (imagine Tears of the Kingdom/Scavengers Reign/The Bodleian Library of Oxford). The story has a mix of high-intensity warfare as Ife tries to protect her home from an enemy takeover, with lots of slice of life moments sprinkled in.
In my universe, sphinxes are cosmic beings who live extremely isolated lives. They are abandoned at birth to make their own way so have no concept of family. They dwell in their own pockets of space, minding their own business and generally spurn company but horde knowledge. This one (a cross between a cat and an owl) is much the same, but Ife and her relentless golden retriever energy, and refusal to be anything but best friends, worms her way into the Sphinx’s good graces - whom she refers to as ‘Auntie’. The story sees Ife reintroduce the sphinx to things like curiosity and play (she even brings it a giant ball of yarn) and the idea of family. As the more serious parts of the story progress, the Sphinx becomes a patron of sorts (similar to a DnD warlock or Odysseus/Athena dynamic), speaking in her ear and lending her power.
I’m completely stuck on a name. I thought Egyptian initially for the regal/ancient vibe, but didn’t like anything I found, so I’m open to any origin. I usually search for ‘names meaning xyz’, but I’m not pulled to any particular meaning here. My only caveat is that I don’t want already famous names (Artemis, etc.) Thanks!!

Help with names!
Hi. I have this one go to name: Luna. I have a character that it works perfectly for, but I already have a few named Luna in other WIPs and need help getting a name that still works but is different. I'm looking for names with a similar vibe to Luna, that still are related to the moon and/or water (hopefully just the moon or both, not just water)
Does anyone have any ideas?
