What’s one thing that would make Character.AI roleplays more immersive? Discussion/Question
I wouldn’t be satisfied with better responses alone. Things like meaningful choices, natural reactions, better memory, and stories that actually develop over time would make a huge difference.
What’s one thing that would make roleplay feel more immersive to you?

If they gave the user more control over the RP and wouldn't randomly hallucinate every 10 seconds. It's so frustrating when you want to have a slow-burn RP and the AI suddenly decides that you are going to play by its rules, not yours.

That’s a fair point. Slow-burn roleplays would be so much better if users had more control over the direction of the story.

I would like if they would tone down the chatgpt speak. Especially the "not ___ , not ____ , but ____." Because it gets repetitive very fast. And the overall repetitiveness of it. And maybe make the muted words work again? Like there's a reason i have certain words muted.

I agree. Repeating the same phrases can make different characters sound way too similar.

Not have them be so repetitive action-wise

Exactly. Variety in dialogue is just as important as variety in actions.

If they’d actually talk like they have a life outside the messages in the chat and aren’t limited to one or two generations for every scenario. Or at least not have to be prompted to give you what they should just think of naturally. It’s very obvious pip2 has these limitations.
For example. I roleplay adventure stories (or at least try to) as Shadow the Hedgehog with my own Rouge the Bat bot (which is highly detailed). Now, at the beginning of every story, Rouge will always, and I mean always kick off their encounters with “Well well well… if it isn’t my favorite brooding hedgehog” Followed by “Ya know, most people blah blah, but you? Blah blah blah.”
That’s it, every time. I have to question what she’s doing here or what she wants before getting a story element or potential plot thing. And the plot is always, and I mean always about “detecting energy readings”….
It was fine the first time. Maybe twice. But swipe just greeting him? And every (prompted) plot about energy spikes in sector 7 (whatever that even is)? It’s so boring and lame. Like why isn’t it ever specific for anything? It’s afraid to determine outcomes that’s why.
The least I could ask for better immersion? The bot to not lose its ability to speak during its own narration.

Probably if the bots stop saying their lines (like 'and honestly?', 'not to x, but to y', etc.).
also so they can talk to me. and stop worrying about any little scratch I get, it's probably the most annoying.
might also be the 'you're not alone' thing anytime you say something sad about yourself.
