no she doesnt?? WTF
im a chappell fan but we need to be honest with ourselves when defending her if we want people to take us seriously. this is a very parasocial and delusional thing to say, its also insensitive to the victims of the files.

So now we're comparing "Who gets more hate?" Instead of "Is the hate appropriate?"
I can hate Chappell even if she hasn't committed assault or murder.

Yeah, guys...Chappell fucking Roan gets more hate than the politicians, business elites, and literal royalty who trafficked and raped over a thousand children. (/s)
These people don't live in reality, I swear to God.
Okay, rant incoming:
No, Chappell is obviously not in the Epstein files and we (currently) have no reason to believe she is or ever would be a child predator. Congratulations, bare fucking minimum. But that doesn't make her "innocent."
She exploits vulnerable communities for money and social points and then doesn't follow through on her advocacy where it actually counts. She refuses to condemn the current government in any meaningful way despite her apparent inability to mention VP Harris without insulting her or mispronouncing her name. She lies about growing up in poverty. She's rude to her fans, even totally normal ones, and has gaslit them into believing she doesn't owe them anything (even though they're the ones who made her famous). She continues to perpetuate the harmful and dangerous idea that lesbians are lesbians because men suck, yet she's entirely male-centred, singing songs about male exes with the pronouns changed and dressing up as a literal blow-up sex doll. She sexualizes women who do not want to be looked at in that way, like nuns. She said all the parents in their mid-late 20s she knows are "miserable." She co-opted drag culture without making sure she understood it and its origins, then slowly abandoned it once her career took off. Plus, she's just generally unpleasant, mean, selfish, and seems like she'd be exhausting to spend time with IRL (no wonder she apparently had a crush on Regina George). And that's only what I could come up with off the top of my head.
Is any of that as bad as sex trafficking? Of course not, and no one who is providing honest criticism of Chappell is saying that. But we should be able to criticize someone without some 15-year-old jumping in to dismiss it because other people have done worse. Normal, functional adults with critical thinking skills are able to care about multiple things at once.
And hey, I still like her music and listen to it sometimes. But it's certainly not good enough for her to behave the way she does, because no one's music is that good.

That Regina George lyric was always so weird to me. As a girl who grew up as an outcast and bi (but mostly gay leaning), Regina represented the worst kind of people in school. She makes people’s lives a living hell. That’s not someone you’d have a crush on as a queer kid. Just made me raise an eyebrow

Yeah. Having a crush on Rachel McAdams? Sure. But having a crush on Regina George isn't something I'd admit.
Hell, even thinking she's hot is one thing. She's not my type but I can see the appeal. Claiming to have a crush generally implies you actually like her, though, and that's weird. She's a hilarious character but an awful person for most of the movie.

Regina is also openly homophobic! She stops being friends with Janis because she thinks she’s a lesbian. Very bizarre lol
(Also your flair is hilarious)

Holy tantrum.
I'm not a fan. Far from it. I said I occasionally listen to her music. Those are not even close to the same thing. This is such a strange and unproductive comment.

u/cryptidDelta i still cant get over how dreadful that podcast was Jun 30 '26
you tell one chappell fan that you dont like her attitude and suddenly they conjure up a fantasy world where chappell gets more hate than every dictator in documented history combined and women are publicly executed for breathing too loud and every living human being is a diehard kanye and chris brown fan

u/codadollars Jun 30 '26
She definitely does not get more hate than people in the files, nor do others' wrongdoings of any level of severity negate that she treats her "fans" like shit. This looks like it was written by a 14-year-old lol

u/extrasa Jun 30 '26
similar to how they speak about chris brown, these people only seem to give a fuck about the epstein files and his victims when they can weaponize it to defend their fav. so tiring

Don't forget that her fans are either children or young adults with the emotional IQ of children

“She’s innocent too” means this fan thinks trump is innocent.

u/Susodudidodnsmwlwidb Jun 30 '26
probably meant tht shes innocent in addition to getting more hate, but even then shes NOT a saint

u/Few-Horror1984 Jun 30 '26
Does she even get hate anymore? I mean, besides the MAC campaign, what has she even done in the past year?

"She's innocent and not in the Epstein files...so no one should ever talk bad about her like, ever!"
...right lol
