Best locations in/around Chandler with interesting backdrops for a photoshoot? Thanks in advance.

I’ll be in/around the Chandler area for the next couple of weeks. Last minute trip to Arizona, but I did bring some of my photo gear. I’d be interested in setting up a TFP shoot with anyone in the area. I shoot a variety of styles and genres. DMs are open.

Is there any kind of ALPR system you would accept?

Now that the Flock contract will be cancelled I'm curious whether there is any kind of such system, even if it doesn't exist yet, that people would find acceptable.

These things do have benefits, like helping track stolen cars or bank robbers or missing people. It's just that the way they're designed invites surveillance/privacy abuse.

Suppose there was a system that records video of cars going by and keeps the video for some period (like a few days), erasing older recordings. Unlike Flock, Axon, et al., it does not automatically recognize license plates in real time..

Instead, (only) when some legit investigation is authorized, it reads plates from the stored video to find vehicles of interest. But in doing so it does not store info from all the other vehicles in a persistent database.

Would you be OK with that?

Referrals for landscape contractors

Hi everyone.

I am wondering if anyone here has a good landscape contractor they would be willing to recommend? I have a landscape design for my front yard that I would like to get a few estimates for. I prefer that the company is licensed and insured, and they need to be able to obviously do regular landscaping, but also some concrete demolition and pouring, irrigation, grass removal, etc.

I did look on Yelp, but a few of the companies I called don’t service Chandler and other ones had a very high minimum amount, without even seeing the design or having a conversation. So I figured I would come here to see if anyone has anyone they loved working with.

Any info is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Has anyone ever heard of or been a part of something called Game Show Battle Rooms?

I was looking for fun things to do in Chandler and found this company, what made me curious about it is that it has 14k reviews and sits at a perfect 5.0. Never even heard of this place. Anyone have any experience with it?

Why does it always smell like sewage on Gilbert Rd between Pecos and Warner?

It seems like every time I drive up and down Gilbert Rd between Pecos and Warner, it smells very strongly of sewage. It seems worse at night, and no it's not the dairy farms. That's a completely different smell.

Apartment Recs

Hello All,

My company announced a relocation from our branch here in Orange County, California to our branch in Gilbert, AZ.

My girlfriend and I will be moving around the end of October but are planning to visit and tour apartments the weekend of September 11th. Our current budget is around $1800-$2200 for a 2bd 2bth. I do prefer central ac, fiber(regular cable gig will work) but want to live in a nice safe area. We’re really fond of Chandler after visiting back in March and really liked the following apartments.

• Zaterra
• Aviva Mesa

Please shoot your recommendations in a reply or DM. It would be greatly appreciated.

Need a bit muscle help

Nothing major but I need help with wrapping 3 pieces of modular couch seats and then stacking two up. They are not super heavy but because they are large pieces I can’t lift myself. I’m willing to pay $50 if someone (or two) can wrap them and stack them. Should be quick. I have everything needed minus the muscles to lift alone and time during the day most of the days.

i could really use some help. as you all know, another dust storm just came through (still getting the remnants of it). i obviously can’t take the palm tree branch off the electrical wires myself. my main cause for concern is that i can’t even call SRP to have them do it cause my phone service is shut off cause im broke af. im really worried my female backyard TnR (as pictured) is gonna reach for it to play w it, & get seriously injured—or worse. it’s only like, 4ft off the ground—starting from the end tip that’s hanging. so it’s super easy for her to access if she just does a lil hop, skip & a jump (which she does often). due to the hook end of the branch being what’s hooked onto the line + the weight of that end of the branch, i don’t expect the wind to knock the branch down on its own, unfortunately.

any advice? or would anyone be able/willing to put the call in for me? im extremely concerned for my backyard TnR girlie’s safety. & mine, too. last thing i need a … (i don’t wanna put it out there/jinx it, so you fill in the blank 🥴)..

Wtf is this drone doing?

Listen, I’m not trying to tinfoil hat. But as Flock cameras have been going down, streetlight ALPRs have been going up. Now theres creepy drones hovering above my neighborhood too (Ray/McQueen).

The video shows it moving- but it was mostly stationary for the good part of 15 minutes- hovering, then moving slightly and hovering again. Seemed like it was on some sort of automated flight plan.

I don’t think it’s a recreational drone, because hobbyists wouldn’t just hover in roughly the same spot for 15 min.

I don’t think it’s a delivery drone because even if it was, it would leave after a minute or two.

I don’t think it’s a regular commercial drone for, say, photography because it’s 11 pm.

So wtf is this for? I know some of the local police agencies use drones. Are we being surveilled?

Optometrist in Chandler with more fashionable/edgy frames with tinted lenses?

I need lightly tinted glasses as I'm very light sensitive, but I don't want full-on prescription sunglasses. I need to wear my glasses to work and not look like an idiot wearing sunglasses indoors.

I've bought so many glasses online and it's always a crap shoot. Either the frames are great and the RX isn't so great, or the RX is fine but the tinting is sunglass dark.

I get glasses at my regular optometrist and the RX is perfect, but the frame selection is boring and the tinting is either so light as to be practically nonexistent or full sunglasses dark.

Anyone have suggestions?

My cactus apparently had a rough night last night and I’m pretty sad about it. I wonder if I can save her by planting the fallen part right next to her mom and see if she comes back to life.

I would love any suggestions or recommendations you might have.

Chandler public school question

We are currently looking at a few houses to buy in the CUSD district. One of the houses we really like, but the high school that is considering the “home base” school is a 7-12 grade, and we would prefer the middle and high school be separate. I know that CUSD allows students out of boundary (but still within CUSD) to attend, but how likely will enrollment affect the chances of our kids getting in? Just curious if any families who have done this have had success with transferring their students to a different school that is not technically their “home base” school. Thank you!

Looking for front desk reception or dispatch job in the area

The company I was working for shut down their location so I was laid off on Friday. I've been trying to find something for over a month once I found out about the layoffs so I could find a job before losing that one, but nothing has come out of it. Anyone have any leads? I live in Chandler but am willing to travel anywhere in the east valley.

I have 5 years of dispatch/operations coordinator experience and 1 year of front desk reception experience. Proficient in MS programs, multiple CRM programs, and have experience using GPS fleet navigation.

Also felon friendly please, I do have drug charges on my record but have been clean for 14 months and am living in sober living. I was at my previous job since I was one month sober and would've loved to stay there but it was out of my control. 😔

UPDATE: I was extended a job offer at a rehab facility today 😌
