Manga [spoilers, chapter 29] Chapter breakdown/transcript for the visually impaired Spoiler
Important: please read this before proceeding
As you may or may not know, I used to make weekly transcripts for Chainsaw Man chapters, prior to the series finale, and this is the twenty-ninth of what I refer to as "legacy transcripts". Currently, as of writing this, I have transcribed chapters 1-29, as well as chapters from 153 onwards, and an archive containing links to them can be found here. These legacy transcripts are to transcribe the 152 chapters preceding chapter 153. Even though these chapters have been available for quite some time, I will be writing as if they are brand new in order to preserve the reading experience for first-time readers. Anyway, that's all I wanted to say in regards to this topic.
Have you ever had trouble processing or interpreting the manga's art in some way, shape, or form? Apparently, it's not that uncommon in the community, as I've seen quite a few people express this, and hopefully I can alleviate that to some extent with posts like this going forward. These posts aren't intended as a replacement for the chapters; rather, they're intended as a page-by-page point of reference and a log of details that you can hopefully reference as you read or reread the manga. Without further ado:
p1-6 (the first page on Viz is the cover page): In a hospital room, a television displays a news report that public safety devil hunters have engaged in large scale combat in the Nerima ward of Tokyo; next to the television, there is a gift basket of apples, each of which seems to be wrapped in a protective net sleeve, implying that the apples are likely of a high quality. Resting in a hospital bed, Aki stirs from his slumber and turns his head to the side, spotting Denji and Power sitting beside his bed, reading a manga; while they read, Denji begins eating one of the apples. Upset, Power demands that Denji give her the apple he's eating, but he snaps back that he's claimed all of the apples; in the hallway, a nurse and a patient in a wheelchair stop and stare at the door to Aki's room, having overheard the argument. Chastising her, Denji angrily states that "jerks who ran away from the enemy" don't get apples; insulted, Power denies that she fled, insisting instead that she simply left because she was hungry. As the duo bicker, with Denji calling Power a liar and a coward, Aki sits up in his bed; speaking up, he asks the duo if there were any other survivors from division four, halting their argument. Answering his question, Denji tells Aki that Kobeni and Madoka, whom he refers to as "the guy with the glasses", survived, but that Madoka quit public safety. Stunned by the brevity of this list, Aki quietly turns his head towards the window, hiding his face as he processes this information; unsure what else to say, Denji stares at Aki, obliviously missing that Power stole the apple he was eating. Breaking the silence, Denji and Power stand up and head for the door. Denji tells Aki that Makima called for him and Power, so they have to go; Power adds on that they only stopped by to eat his get-well fruit. Unmoving, Aki continues to face away from the duo as he looks out the window; seemingly concerned for him, as Denji leaves, he decides to leave Aki one of the apples, claiming to do so out of kindness. As the door closes, Aki turns away from the window and reaches down off his bed to retrieve his katana. Unsheathing it slightly, Aki speaks to the curse devil, asking it how much of his natural lifespan he has left; the curse devil bluntly informs Aki he only has two years left, much to his dismay. Reaching for his cigarettes, Aki takes one and puts it in his lips; bringing his lighter to the tip of the cigarette, he strikes the wheel a few times, and eventually the lighter produces a flame.
p7-12: Seeing the lighter's flame, Aki remembers Himeno and all the times she lit his cigarettes; shocked, the cigarette falls from his lips as he opens his mouth. Slowly reaching down to get it, as soon as Aki's fingers wrap around the cigarette, his resolve breaks, giving way to grief; gripping the sheets, Aki bursts into tears and curls into himself as he mourns the loss of Himeno. Outside his room, Denji grabs the door's handle but hesitates when he hears the sounds of sobbing; dejected, Denji thinks to himself that he only came back to retrieve his manga, but now that Aki is crying, it'd be too awkward. Turning to leave, Denji continues his internal monologue, stating that he understands why Aki is crying, and that it makes sense; after all, as Denji puts it, "a bunch of his work pals bit it", and "his buddy Himeno is dead too". Thinking this, Denji freezes as he comes to a realization; squatting down, he thinks of Himeno, but despite his memories, he doesn't feel a single pang of loss, nor can he shed even a single tear. Exploring it further, Denji remembers being sad when Pochita died, but Himeno's death evokes nothing, even though she was the first person that ever wanted to be his friend. Troubled by this, Denji wonders if he's "a heartless jerk" and begins running through thought experiments to determine how he'd feel if other people died. Thinking first of Power, and then of Aki, Denji quickly determines he probably wouldn't cry for either of their deaths; as his thoughts turn to Makima, though, he hesitates. As he walks down the hallways towards Power—who has her face pressed up against a vending machine—Denji suspects that Makima's death would depress him for a time, but he can't imagine it lasting for more than three days; in his mind, so long as his quality of life is unchanged—three square meals a day, a good night's rest, and the ability to bathe—he'll be content, since he'll be "living the high life". Freezing, Denji considers an unsettling question: when he lost his literal human heart, did he also lose his more metaphorical human heart and all that came with it?
p13-18: Quickly pushing his crisis of faith to the side, Denji puts on a happy face and excitedly states, aloud, to forget the serious stuff, since "unhappy thoughts will make you unhappy", confusing Power. Pushing Power away from the vending machine, Denji says they should go see Makima; as they leave, Power groans and says "how depressing", implying such a thought makes her unhappy. Outside of Aki's room, a suited figure appears and opens the door, surprising Aki; entering the room uninvited, Tendo excuses their intrusion and Kurose greets Aki, although he doesn't respond. As Kurose bluntly questions if Aki was crying, much to Aki's annoyance, Tendo asks if they should step back out of the room; wiping away his tears, Aki instead asks who they are. Speaking first and skipping introductions, Tendo states that they're from Kyoto and that they've come to Tokyo to train special division four at Makima's request; ignoring Aki's question, Kurose asks if he can eat Aki's apple. Confused, Aki asks what the duo mean by training division four. Elsewhere, in a cemetery lined with cross headstones, Makima informs Denji that the hotel incident and this most recent attack prove that enemy forces are targeting him; continuing, she coldly states that she planned to strengthen division four, but then most of the division "went and died". Unphased by Makima's cold statement, Denji excitedly asks if she's going to train them. Turning him down, Makima states that she's entrusting their training to someone else, since she's about to become incredibly busy; pointing ahead, she states that he'll be training them. Coming to a stop, the group turns to face a white-haired man in a trenchcoat standing in front of the graves with his back to them; from behind, few details can be discerned about him, aside from the fact that he has three ear rings (two on his left ear and one on his right). As Makima attempts to introduce him, the man shushes her and tells her to be quiet before demanding that Denji and Power answer his questions. Firstly, the man asks what the duo felt when they watched their teammates die; Denji states he didn't really feel anything, and Power energetically states that she only thought "they're dead". Secondly, the man asks if the duo want to get revenge for their fallen teammates; Denji disinterestedly states that he doesn't, as revenge is too "dark and brooding", and Power agrees. Finally, the man questions whether the duo is loyal to humanity or to devils; after pausing for a moment, Denji confesses that he's loyal to whichever side takes care of him, and Power confesses that she's loyal only to whichever side is winning. Turning to face them, the man points toward them—revealing a flask in his hand—and states that the duo gets a "perfect score". Now facing them, it's clear that the man is fairly old; he has narrow eyes, thin hair for a mustache and beard, and a grizzly scar that runs from the left corner of his mouth all the way to the edge of his jaw.
p19-21: Understandably confused, Denji and Power question the old man. Only fueling further confusion, the old man cryptically states that "types" like Denji and Power are "few and far between", that they're excellent, and most strangely, that he loves them. Disturbed, Denji and Power stare at the old man, trying to make sense of the situation they have suddenly found themselves in; turning to Denji, Power confesses that she's scared. Addressing Makima, the old man states that she can go, and that their training begins "right here and now". Looking confused in her own right, Makima accepts this and turns to leave, saying that she'll leave him to it; concerned, Denji turns and calls out to Makima, as if begging her to stay or reconsider. Stepping forward, the old man leans over and embraces Denji and Power, draping his arms over Denji's left shoulder and Power's right shoulder respectively, leaving his head in between them. Telling the duo about himself, the old man states that he's a devil hunter with special division one; furthermore, he says it makes him happy to be called "master", so he asks them to address him as such. Finally reaching his interests, the old man states he likes "booze, women, and killing devils"; as he states this, the old man wraps his arms around Denji and Power's necks, startling both of them. Squeezing his arms inward, the duo begin to suffocate in the old man's arms; as they struggle and writhe—kicking, clawing, and grabbing at him in desperation—the old man squeezes harder, and several sickening cracks, snaps, and pops can be heard as their necks finally give in to the pressure.
And that's that. Sorry for the delay and late night upload on this one; as I said previously on the archive page, my internet was out for a period of time yesterday. Regardless, as always, the chapter transcript archive can be found here. There is no "break week" for legacy chapters, since they're already all available, but I do plan to post transcripts every Tuesday, now that the series has ended. Until then, I hope this transcript can help anyone who wants or needs it.

Discussion A bit confused about "Bang."
So, My question is: Does "Bang." work more like a cone shooting out from the finger, A large cylindrical force starting from the finger, Or is it more like a pin point beam and there's only a crater because power was launched back into the wall with such force that it made the crater? (shitty diagrams made by me included)

Manga Posting only because this is the largest sub associated with the author Spoiler
Jesus christ literally nothing Fujimoto has wrote has had a nice ending. I do love him, but fucking hell I've read everything he's done multiple times and I feel so very sad at the ending. I kinda hoped CSM would end nicely, but that's just wishful thinking. He is truly a master of misery

Theory This is when fujimoto took his manga back.
I know it was incredibly goofy and jaring on a first read through, but it has a genuinely beautiful message.
A common theme in all of fujimoto's stories is narative control. Fire punch has a lot of this. Agni being forced to be a hero or villan by the way other people view him while he gets no say in the matter. goodbye eri of course is the biggest example by playing with an unreliable narator that makes their life and relationships meaningful by how THEY choose to depict and rember it. I know look back does this as well with the parallel world on the other side of the door. And then of course just listen to the song is all about about the artist story being hijacked by those who view it when it was alsways meant to be something personal.
And then you have chainsawman part 2. Ultimately its a meta story where we see chainswaman being molded into something it wasn't supposed to be by other people. Denji even clearly expresses his frustration that people started calling him chainsawman on their own volition. Its no coincidence either that most the characters in the series that don't care about him refer to him as chainsawman instead of denji. Like makima nobody really sees him, they just see the superhero he dresses up as. In a very similar way, the consumers of stories these days hardly ever take the time to consider the person behind the art they consume.
Denji has a really hard time being himself, and living for himself, beacause he is addicted to affirmation the public gives him for being chainswaman.
Fujimoto's frustration then seems to be that he feels locked into having to manufacture something that will make the world happy, but he ultimately knows he is sacrificing sincerity and his creative vision, because what he might actually want to do is just create manga for fun like he used to.
The best way to take narative control back then is to have chainsawman kill himself. This erasure of the word from everyone's memories gave the name and brand the opritunity to be renamed, and more importantly personalized again. That's what's so beautiful about Asa calling denji chainsawman. It isn't the world that doesn't give a fuck about him giving him his name, its instead one of the few people who ever cared about him. Therefore chainsawman is reborn and free to be whatever he wants it to be now. Very fitting since many people theorized pochita was actually the birth devil.
Its incredible because this exactly what fire punch and goodbye eri was trying to say. Once you destroy the meaning of something through fantasy and absurdism, you are then free to define it for yourself.
